It's a grandfathered Star Trek tradition. There will always be a team on the other side operating the doors by hand, and there will never be seat belts on the bridge.

@@ManabiLT They've "finally" added seatbelts to the bridge chairs at the end of at least three of the movies as a gag, and then completely ignored them in the next one.

@@pauldzim Technically yes, but in the 1960s you had to stand on a pressure mat to active the doors. And they weren't all that common because of the limitations of that design. What we think of as a modern, motion sensor activated door of the kind they had on TOS didn't start getting installed until the 1970s. 1980s for ones that actually worked worth a damn. So it's easy to see why people would attribute the idea to Star Trek. They see it on a scifi show, and then a few years later they start appear in real life.

And I get halfway through the video and I start thinking oO0(could be one of those where the mistake is so subtle that I missed it, so I'll have to replay to try to spot it) and then I get to the end and realize; no, I won't. I did replay the end though, since it's a mite baffling how he manages not to notice the door is closed.

Since the doors are "futuristic" and "always work", The characters aren't suppose to stop and wait for the door to open. The actors have to walk at the doors full speed fully expecting that they're actually going to open.
