Please tell me you are doing the side content as well, the raids and trials. Shadowbringer hits extra hard if you have done Alexander and Omega, and the payout in Endwalker is even bigger for those who didn't ignored all that sweet blue quest content.

I actually started Alexander on stream and I'm def doing the Omega Raids as well. You're the second person to tell me to do these so it's gotta be worth it. 😅

@ They definitely are. A good chunk of this content is a floodgate of Final Fantasy fanservice, like the Warring Triad Trials, the Ivalice Raids and the Omega Raids. Every raid, alliance raid and trial series are worth doing. It’s funny how because of all the praises FFXIV gets for the story, many players rush the MSQ and skip all this optional content, which is not only very good, but surprisingly relevant for the lore.

Storm blood is that expansion that is rough at the beginning but man does it stick the landing. By the time we are at gates of Ala Mhigo beginning the battle I was so jazzed and ready to overthrow the Garleans

Glad to see you enjoyed Stormblood! Despite all its faults being a split story on two fronts that many find mixed I still enjoyed my time when it was new, and by god Zenos has been the best part of XIV I'm forever thankful Yoshi-P and his team conceptualized him the way they did. And the Lyse love staying strong is also great!

I'll never understand this critique. Especially when comming out from HW a story even MORE split in two fronts that were at best tangentially related. There are several points in HW where you are RIGHT THERE from a cool ass event like storming Niddhog's house, but then whoop, nono, get blue balled. We have to go see some BS will Ilberd. At least both Parts of SB are directly related to the opposition to the empire and it doesn't constantly interrupt one for the other.

I'm actually surprised that you were fast to finish the 4.0 MSQ...When I was playing this, it took me like a month to finish. But I am happy for you that you enjoyed Stormblood! From here on out, it just keeps getting better. No exaggeration whatsoever on my part :D And yes, I agree with Gysahl Fields that if you want to maximize your experience, lore and story with the upcoming patches and upcoming expansions, please do the Alliance Raids and Normal Raids from previous expansions (ARR, HW and SB).

I started doing the Alexander raids during the stream last night, will probably continue them and then move on from there!

My dude you are blasting thru!! This is awesome! So happy you enjoyed Stormblood, we're just into the patch content with my dad and he loved it too! Good luck with the Omega raids if you do them (you will enjoy them for *reasons*, hohoho), and going into Shadowbringers... get your feels ready! ;) Will try to catch your streams more often, I gotta see this live! ^^

Thanks dude! I'm ready for ShB.... or maybe not, idk lol I definitely want to do the Omega Raids, might do them (or start them tonight) on stream tonight!

Some comments from me and that will be all I will say: 1) Lyse is amazing. 2) Zenos is amazing. 3) If you liked base STORMBLOOD, then you should be very excited for what comes in the Patches... 4) SHADOWBRINGERS and ENDWALKER and how they build on the Story. You are not ready hahahaha!!! 5) STORMBLOOD IS EPIC!!! 6) Please play Shinryu Extreme!!! You will LOVE it!!! 7) Do NOT proceed to SHADOWBRINGERS without doing the OMEGA Raid Series and IVALICE Raid Series. You will lose alot of the STORMBLOOD feeling. 8) At the end when they were all singing, it was the original ALA MHIGO National Anthem, with the original lyrics. The one you heard at the beginning of the Expansion was the lyrics the Garleans had enforced on them. 9) The pose of all the Characters at the end when they put up the Flag, is the Title Screen Amano Art, in-game. :) 10) I love STORMBLOOD!!!

I'm definitely considering doing the Ivalice and Omega Raids, I'm very happy with SB, can't wait to continue the patches. At the end, once they sang, I expected the logo to form because I noticed the poses from the amano art and if it had... I may have gotten way more emotional cause that trope gets me every time. 🤣 So beautiful.

@ Hahaha, you're like me. One of my negatives for STORMBLOOD is that the Logo did not form. The other negative is no Blitzball Minigame came with Underwater swimming, AND THEY HAD TEASED THAT!!! CRIMINALS!!!

A lot of the Lyse hate seems to come from them having two main story writers. Banri Oda (one of the main lore guys) wrote all of the Ala Mhigo stuff and Natsuko Ishikawa (writer for Shadowbringers and Endwalker) wrote the Doma arc. All of the character development and learning she did with Hien, like when they were talking in the cell in the Azim Steppe stayed on that continent when they got picked up by the other writer's story. I like her overall and though she is divisive, I would like to see her pop back up more often.

I hope I get to see more of Lyse in EW now that I finished ShB. I really enjoyed her character moments.

i think people were (and still do) dump on Lyse because of her closest analogue in Heavensward, Alphinaud, generally having a much more impactful arc by comparison. In fact i think most of the Stormblood downers are just comparing it too heavily to Heavensward and Shadowbringers. Stormblood's only crime was being a solid 7/10 at worst that's sandwiched between two 9/10 expansions.

At this rate, you may be able to finish Endwalker before FF16 comes out. I'm excited for you to see those expansion and also have the frame of reference when you start FF16. You'll probably catch many of them.

I'm hoping I can get to the end of EW before XVI but we'll see, Zelda and Street Fighter might slow me down a bit 😅

In case nobody said it yet, those are the actual voice actors singing the Ala Mhigan anthem there at the end and not professional singers, to really drive home the “we did it, this is us, we are home” feeling of pushing out the empire after so long I know it might be a super minority opinion but man, SB just hit me so much harder than HW, even if the community really didn’t like this expansion that much compared to HW before it, I’ve always been a nut for war stories and this was everything I could’ve hoped it to be on top of Zenos being my favorite villain/antagonist archetype in media so I’m unashamedly biased

Zenos is an incredible villain, the type of villain that is determined to be as evil as possible but also reveled in that. Like, the VA absolutely killed every scene he was in. I honestly really liked SB, I like war stories too so it's possible that's why I liked it so much too and I certainly don't get the hate, because it was fantastic.

@ I still absolutely loved Heavensward, and I realize it’s on me, but I went into it expecting a war story (end the Dragonsong war) and got “the dragons are sad because of humans, be sad that they’re sad” and we didn’t really do anything about the “war” until the post story with the rebellion and then the final fight But Stormblood, god, I just, it’s so good, we are here, we are on the ground, we are fighting and winning and losing, pushing hearts and making calls, and I AM IN Then I go online and find out that apparently this is such a minority opinion I’m not sure if I can even discuss my love for it with the fanbase or else it’ll just turn into a typical “yeah but Heavensward did X better, Stormblood didn’t do Y either” that I get a lot Heavensward may have hit my emotions, but Stormblood hit *me* if that makes sense

Makes total sense, beating Zenos felt cathartic since you fight him 3 times, losing those first two times pretty badly. It honestly felt like a personal journey. Very well done.

@@kuronaialtani Mechanically, and fundamentally, Stormblood is a home run. It set the precedent for how they continue to design dungeons, had some of the best trials ever, and from a gameplay perspective, probably the best series of Alliance raids. But storywise the main 4.0 series missed the mark for most people because it felt very disconnected to your character. As The Warrior of Light, you play second-string to a character like Lyse, who for all intents and purposes, was literally just introduced at the end of HW. Her "Yda" personality is gone, not that there ever really was one to begin with, and now you're forced to sit and watch as this ineffective, ill-prepared, over-confident, and highly irrational "hero" is going to save her homeland. The reason why it worked in HW is because Estinien and Ysale were far more fleshed out and worthy characters to carry the story, so while the WoL also takes a bit of a supporting role during that, it feels earned. Estinien is a literal war hero and Ysale is revered as a savior to the heretics. Lyse, on the other hand, is a third-rate Scion whose only real contributions up to this point have been making nonsensical one-liners and punching people. Now don't get me wrong, her growth throughout 4.0 and beyond IS excellent, and I'm not one of the so-called "Lyse haters," but her forced importance to the overall story of Stormblood is largely why many people do not like this expansion on the whole. The writers fumbled the Yda > Lyse character reveal and then subsequently tried to make up for it by making us care about her, but the damage had already been done by that point so much so that everything going on around her character was largely ignored, despite the fact that characters like Yotsuyu, Gosetsu, Yugiri, Hien, Raubahn are universally beloved, and Asahi is detested (for all the right reasons). Zenos is a character that falls into the 50/50 category of love or hate but the people that fall into each camp are generally very passionate about why.
