In this Spindle Spotlight I am featuring three different styles of bobbin or spool style spindles made by three different spindle makers. I wanted to show how the same style spins differently, and what might work well for one spinner, might not work the same for another. It's wonderful that there are so many talented spindle makers making spinning tools right now, because in this art one size definately does not fit all!

Spindle Style Pros:
Unique design
Removable spools/bobbins
Can spin a variety of fibers
Variable weight and speed (depending on maker)
Support or suspended style (depending on maker)
Spindle Style Cons:
Few makers so style might be hard to find
No "industry standard" so each maker's style will spin differently
Balance fluctuates depending on bobbin (some will spin balanced, while others might not)
Bobbin/spool can slip or come loose while spinning, this doesn't happen with a fixed whorl spindle
