    My beagle got pyometra when she was about 8 years, and luckily we got her to the vet in time and she was able to live another 4 years before having to be put down. Because of having to watch her almost die, i am getting my almost 6 month old yorkie spayed today. Interesting video to see. Thank you.

    Rightly said... Uncontrollable haemorrhages are the worst feeling ever.. last two spayings which I did, had the same problem, but somehow with God's grace I could control it and the dogs are fine now...I have been doing surgeries since the last 4 years, but I never felt as helpless than in the last two surgeries.. learned some new techniques from you doc... Thanks a lot.

    I am so scared for my puppy Dahlia who is a Chow Akita Mix. She recently had puppies with our German Shepard and I see how much she has to endure as a mom and the responsibilities needed to care for her and her babies. I would like to have her spayed, watching this to see exactly what happens is very enlightening. Thank you for giving us a view into this world of surgery!

    Thank you for the informative and well-documented video. Our female dog was just spayed after first heat as recommended by our veterinarian, but you stated to have the spay procedure prior to first heat to avoid mammary cancer. The conflicting views are confusing. We took her in to be spayed at 6 mo. and were informed that new studies indicate a less chance of mammary cancer if spayed after first heat. K

    People, if you love and cherish your dog, save her from the very real possibility of cancerous mammary glands and a lethal uterus infection by having her spayed at some point. These two painful and deadly conditions cannot occur if she is spayed. I have an American Bulldog (entirely white with a black eye patch) that has always been the sweetest animal I have ever encountered. I never wanted to have her spayed because I mistakenly believed the misconception that it would change her personality. The fact that her not being spayed was posing any health risks never crossed my mind. Nearing age 10, she had to have cancerous tumors removed from her mammary glands. Less than 4 months later, she developed the death sentence known as Pyometra, which is a pus filled uterus that will burst at some point and cause your companion's entire bodily systems to become septic (toxic) and she will soon die a painful death, unable to even recognize you even as she struggles to take her last labored breath. I got my big girl to the vet just in the nick of time and she was saved only by a "drop everything-right here-right now" emergency spay. Don't concentrate on the population control agenda, and the personality change fears were proven to be nonsense. Instead, focus on keeping your girl healthy and doing what is best for her well-being, both now and in the future. Please educate yourself in advance. I could kick myself for my ignorance and for putting her through the resulting surgeries and suffering. It was all completely needless and so unnecessary. I thank God for allowing me more time with her, and she remains the sweetest dog ever.

    ovary sparing sterilization which leaves the ovaries intact and removes the uterus only. The ovaries will continue to produce normal levels of female hormones.

  • @Bunnykat7

    @Bunnykat7

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Nancy “Barcode Tattoo” Canche This however leaves the dog at greater risk for mammary cancer and given most dogs have quite a few mammaries it's generally regarded as better for the dogs health to remove the ovaries. When taking into account cancer is incredibly expensive and many dog owners are just not financially capable of affording it and then the survival rates being not great in many instances its just more likely the dog will be better off without them.

  • @Bunnykat7

    @Bunnykat7

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Lori Thomas Its not necessary most of the time. Too much fluid will hurt the dogs kidney's and fluid will cause them to loose body heat rapidly. When their abdominal cavity is open its not a great idea to chill them. Also she lost next to no fluids and she will be able to eat and drink normally very shortly after her surgery.

    +Sarah McNally Not really, it would cost more for the client and unless the animal is at risk there is no point since it's so easy to put one in when the animal is under. I work at an office that does 15+ spay and neuters a day and we have never had a need for an IV in 3 months of working there.
