Got the first machine, now have the 3. Best purchases I have made in the last 10 years bar none. Incredibly consistent, excellent sharpening and keeps my profile which no hand sharpening can ever do over time.

Our whole family skates. We have had the sparx 2 for two years now. The sharpening is excellent. I have not had a single issue. Very easy to change between rings for different hollows. The number one benefit is the convenience. Any time a skate needs a sharpen, I can spend 3 minutes and it is done. No need for a trip to the pro-shop. I have recommended this to several parents.

I know most companies won’t be as open and transparent as this… but it would be great to get more content like this from around the industry. Well done.

With so much that goes into each ring, I wonder if there is consideration into recycling the used rings.

As far as I know they‘re just waiting for the CE seal, last I heard they were saying spring 2024. They might push the official release to the start of next season though (August-September)

I was told ‘beginning June ‘24 maybe earlier’ a couple of weeks ago by customer service. Very responsive btw. I ended up ordering from a Canadian outlet shipped to Europe.

@willynillynilky5226 the cool thing is that the 3 comes with the Beam. By the time you add that to 2, the 3 is less expensive.

The Gen 2 is on sale in US. And the beam (if you want to purchase) is compatable with any Sparx machine. GEN 1 - Gen 3

I received my Sparx sharpener the same day my friend received his. Both of our units didn’t come with the hardware to install the sharpener to the home base. I’ve tried email and by calling them to no avail. So my base just sits there not being used. Not impressed. Long overdue update: After searching, I found another video for mounting the sharpener on the pro base. It does indeed show that it can be mounted without any additional hardware. My mistake, but can’t figure out why they show hardware requirement on the downloaded app.

You don’t need hardware. You just need to removed 2 screws. They have a full tutorial video on their KZread and website.. and instructions on the packaging

@@HockeyTutorialOfficialI watched the video from Sparx. It clearly shows that longer screws are required plus two brackets that are to be attached using supplied screws that I didn’t receive. When you download their app, it has multiple videos on setup, sharpening, grinding wheels and so on. This is where I watched the video on switching the sharpener to the home base.

Tell him to lower the price of grinding rings it honestly makes me second guess buying a sparx machine other than that I’m happy with it…$70 a ring is trash

Here I have owned a Sparx machine for 7 years. I also own many other brands of machines . New steel and damaged steel is where Lay users get poor results from Any sharpener.. New steel is often not square one has do often many passes to get good inner and outer edges on both skates. In two different New K2 skates I did today one took 6 passes on a sparx on both skates. A different pair of K2 took 12 passes on one skate and 19 on the other skate. Many blades are made in mass production and the "pre sharpened" may be all over the place. So if you just do say 6 to 10 passes on new steel the Sparx might be great or you might have one inner edge with "no edge" until you do many many more passes Also your used skates might be fair in sharpness but the last Sparx or other machine was aligned wrong. So you have to grind more much more to get sharp edges and them square too. That's why skate sharpener places often charge double for new steel or steel ruined by others who messed up. One fellow had his high end blades come in and they had no edge at all. More of a chamfer. It too a guy in Pensacola with a Sparx machine 27 passes to get the steel ok. That Same pair that took 27 passes is extreme. It does not matter if Wissota Blackstone blademaster prosharp ez sharp SSM etc. If you have terrible steel you have to grind more.. that's why some cross grind first.
