    45 degrees sounds very aggressive and like it would completely round over your edge. I would say you're holding the gummy stone at maximum 5 degrees. Honing is something that I'm still trying to figure out with my Sparx sharpener. In my experience, I still feel a bur on the out side of the blade after a good deal of passes with a stone flat on the blade. I've tried the course, medium and fine stones and I still feel like the gummy stone does the best job at removing the burs. I am definitely not holding the gummy stone at a 45 degree angle though...

    What’s the best way to clean the stones? Been using mine for a while and they are starting to feel less and less effective due to the metals packed in the stone.

    Question going on a 45 on the edge is that only for coated steel or is that any kind
