    Adding to what you said, I have a transgender friend, and honestly I never really asked about how she became transgender because it's deemed offensive. But, I've never had problems with her. I say "her" (not to mistake the fact she was originally female), because I have never seen her The boys locker room, I've always seen her talking to girls and the only boy she really talks to, according to her, is me. I'm not saying she said this but I assume she hangs with the girls because she understands that being transgender doesn't mean your actual man...

    I'm a bisexual man and have always felt this way about pride events...all I've ever wanted from society as far as my sexuality is concerned is to be able to live my life without hiding it, and without being treated differently than a straight person because of it. Nothing more. It doesn't make me special, and I don't want special treatment because of it and it annoys me when other LGBTQ+ people seem to think they should be. If your sexuality is the most interesting thing about you, maybe you need to make some changes in your life imo

  • @MDM1992

    @MDM1992

    And you've had that for decades, possibly longer than you've even been alive, certainly more than most of the people pushing for change have been alive. They are undoing all the work that went into society accepting gay people, so gay people need to fight along side us before these new generation nut jobs make everyone hate gays again.. i was born in 1992 and had gay teachers, gay friends, gay neighbours.. we knew they were gay and they didn't flaunt it, they just lived their lives, same goes for black, asian etc people, this new generation are all racist and and attacking straight people at every turn when nobody has ever stopped them living how they want to live in their entire lifetime. I saw no real homophobia or racism past the odd joke here and there growing up (and nobody is exempt from a good joke at their expensei might add) and they laughed it off and carried on like normal people, in the last 5-10 years i've seen nothing but race baiting from racists, gay pride forcing everyone to revere them for no apparent reason causing hatred on a mass scale, we are going back in time on both subjects and all because everyone wants to be a victim who is owed something rather than just live their lives and coexist as we did when i was a child-teen. "Protected classes" shoupdn't exist because we ALL have had the same human rights as long as i've been alive, we have all been treated equal, protecting ANY class over another in this day and age is not equality. When did the goal shift from equality to superiority?

Douglas Murray can speak like this, because his personality is like a respectable gentleman and he's not categorised as gay by anybody on the first look at him. However, not everybody is like that The people that are waving on the gay pride bus, are the ones who have been oppressed and shunned by the very same society they're waving at all their lives. So they're acting like celebrities, like they're something special because all their lives they been treated as the opposite. It's a correction of that. As a senior gay man I completely agree. We have won the right to marry and are now protected under law.This should be enough. Since the late 70s I have found gay pride and parades a sickening display of vulgarity. It's one thing to tastefully march for a cause but half naked men and women dancing on floats shaped like a phallus doesn't represent the typical gay. It's become solely based on sexuality which overshadows the real human rights cause. Leave your go-go boots and pink wigs at home and you'll be taken seriously. Also leave the big chip on your shoulder at home. The people you want respect and acceptance from are more likely to give it if you present yourself respectfully and don't make it a mission to push the ugliest example of yourself in their faces.

    I totally respect your cogent point of view and sense of decency regarding ssa people not being entitled to any special privilege. You sound to me to be a decent civilised gentleman. Please, I ask that you read my comment all the way through, before being offended and giving me the thumbs down, or dismissing my earnest comment. I refuse to refer to same-sex attracted (ssa) people as “gay”, with the hijacking of the English word “gay” and the rainbow, reserved for a certain select minority of the human race. Such false claims are delusional and destructive to children growing up in a crazy mixed up world. The bow was set in the sky by YHWH God as a sign of His covenant with Noah, that never again will God flood the Earth. For centuries, “gay” in the English vernacular simply meant happy, joyful. Cannot all human beings be gay? Cannot all people see a rainbow and be reminded of God’s promise? My wife’s son is ssa and is a decent, diligent medical student just finishing his undergraduate medical science degree. He is very intelligent, but deeply psychologically and spiritually troubled, not being blessed with a stable father figure for most of his life. His mother did the best she could to raise and educate him. I came along too late to have any real influence over him. His first serious “relationship” with another man, saw him used as a worthless, cheap shag, chewed up, spat out and left to fend for himself. His mother had to pickup the pieces and save him from suicide, resulting in him failing his first year of university studies. The following year he met a decent (as far as I can tell) man, conservative, career oriented, public servant, who gave my stepson real stability, love and support that his mother could not give. I respect my stepson and his partner for grabbing life with both hands and building a future. He is grateful that I care for and love his doting mother. For the sake of harmony, we avoid controversy, which is tragic, as it is important for family members to explore and express ALL of life’s options and opportunities. Anyway, we “get along”, albeit as a strained truce. He and his partner are atheists, which sorrows me greatly, concerned for their eternal souls. All I can do for him is be a dependable friend and hopefully our friendship will grow to the point where we can really discuss life’s REALLY important questions. In the meantime I pray for him and his partner.

The pendulum always swings both ways and when it eventually swings the other way (whether that's in a year, 10 years or 30 years from now) things can and will get very ugly. I watched a documentary once about how prime time TV is rarely accessible to gay presenters unless they are of the camp, "flaming" type of gay. There were several daytime presenters who were gay, some of whom I had thought were gay, some I had no idea, who said they had been openly told that they weren't the right "type" of gay and if they weren't willing to camp it up and make double entendres all the time they would just face an invisible barrier to prime time programming. Looking back you can sort of see it, from Larry grayson, Danny le rue straight through to Graham Norton there's definitely been that trend.

    I love Douglas Murray he is totally REAL. And he doesn't need public acceptance of his sexuality to love and like himself. He doesn't need social acknowledgement and special treatment to love and live his life. Validation comes from acceptance of who you are as an individual as a decent human being. And accepting who you are and being a decent human being doesn't demand celebration.

    I had a student come to me one time to ask if his being gay would be a problem for me. He went on to explain that my predecessor had given him a hard time the year before. His words to me were no judgment of my choice, just a request to know before it got too late for him to pull out for individual study. Let’s just say this ended up being one of my favorite students that year. He was open about himself - not so much his sexuality as his vibrant personality and love of literature and drama. The topic would come up occasionally, but always in an organic manner and not forced into conversation. Let’s just say he set the bar for how I interacted with others in the years to come and I will always be grateful to him in allowing me the grace to be MYself and still show him the love and respect he deserved as a fellow human being.

    some gay men are masculine and some are feminine. telling someone who happens to be camp and effeminate that they need to hide themselves and present themselves inauthentically to society is ignorant and dangerous. i am masculine and represented university at sports. douglas murray looks and sounds like someone who throws a ball like a (inserts homophobic slur). to me there's nothing 'manly' about him. i mean look at him....how can you be a 'man' and sound like that with those effete mannerisms he has....and to not have a beard. right? your comment is stupid. this thread is about insecure gay males who find camp people threatening to them. anyone who has a problem watching drag-race has issues (and this includes you). the only negative about queens on floats (with boas and whistles) is the mainstream media who focus on it and then present it to the world as how all gay men are. but you may want to remind yourself that it's these 'feathery queens' who were brave enough to be themselves so that people like you and me (who hid away in fear) now have the same human rights as anyone else. you sound like a black person moaning that other black people go out waving BLM banners. activism is there for a reason....and as long as there are people like you who have a problem with other people being in your club (you're a fag - get over it)....then activism is what we still need and it's the media you need to be addressing....not queens who like to dress up and be girly. go check the abusive comments levelled by closet cases at cross dressers on gay dating apps; "no CD/trans....if i wanted a woman i'd fuck my wife"...."no weird CD lingerie wearers....ugh"!! you're a bigot. well done bruh.
