This hate is being fueled by people like trump and even more so by the likes of putin and xi jin ping, you know, the 2 modern colonisers. A few months ago there was a guy in Grenada I think (a small island in South America that's in the commonwealth) saying a whooping 10% of Britain's modern wealth is his due to slavery. No, no one wants to talk about the prodigious Islamic slave trade “legal in some states into the 1970’s” or that the Africans themselves had culturally, religiously and indeed economically engaged in slavery long before any European involvement. No one wants to talk about the statistical fact that most African slaves were enslaved by and sold by other Africans. No, no it’s all America and Englands fault. Forget the fact that the English ended the west African slave trade single handedly at extreme cost of money, resources and lives. Indeed, going all the way back to the Romans, the Vikings, the Greeks, the Mongols, the Moors, and spreading across the entire world with the possible exception of the Antipodes. If we are to be fair about it, there are very few nations free from the stain of colonialism at one point or another in their history, and it’s purely the case that Britain was the last of a long line of colonial powers and is therefore coming in for more criticism than the rest.

June 1837(age 18) to January 22 1901(ag 81) was more of constitutional monarchy(with Queen Victoria as a figure head and mostly as a ceremonial role) than under her Grandfather George III r. October 25th 1760(age 22) to January 29th 1820(age 81) . even more of a Constitutional monarchy so under George V r. May 6th 1910(age 44) to January 20th 1936(age 70). Queen Elizabeth the II was mostly a figure head( emergency powers never really used)during her 70 year reign r. February 6th 1952 (age 25)to September 8th 2022(age 96). my mother was born in 1952 but I wasn't born until the 1989. so she has been around for 3 decades of my life.

I moved to Trinidad and Tobago in 1962 when it gained its independence from Britain. It remained in the Commonwealth until I left in 1976 and became a Republic. Since then, it has done nothing but gone down the toilet!

Has Douglas Murray been knighted yet? Or at the very least been made the Secretary of State for Education yet? Because he just schooled the hell out of a lot of f**king idiots with that final monologue.

The sad fact is that a large number of people never read history books that have any depth and substance on a chosen subject matter. So to understand history, they choose to take a very oversimplified, and often politically, and socially adverse narrative as 'the truth' on a historical event or era. Duglas Murray is correct about one thing; if English colonialism had been genocidal, a large numbere of people today would not even exist because their lineal ancestors would of been killed. Also the wealth of the British Empire was built largely on 'the trade of goods' not on 'the human slave trade'. So, the truth in today's world is colonialism = genocidal slavery = you owe 'me' reparations. Which is pure gold digging crap.

This American wishes to express her heartfelt condolences to the British people on the loss of their beloved monarch. A beautiful lady. Please ignore our hateful left, they do it to us too.

I'm in Ireland and I don't listen to Irish lies either. Hence for the past few years I hardly know who is in government. And what did she do to help the formally enslaved people? The British government paid out £20m to compensate some 3,000 families that owned slaves for the loss of their “property” when slave-ownership was abolished in Britain's colonies in 1833. Nothing went to the actual enslaved people only to the evil slave owners. So get off your high horse.

Thank you for that acknowledgment! Britain was influential in stopping the slave trade from Africa and it paid a heavy price financially for doing so. Now let’s all look at the Islamist slave trade that flourished for over 200 years along the Barbary Coast with close to 1 million Christian’s enslaved… why no mini tv series about these people?????

In the 1860's a Yankee woman, on seeing General Robert E Lee on horseback, commented: "I wish he were ours." (I'm also a Yank and I totally agree!) But on seeing these vid clips of Douglas Murray (and reading his book "The Strange Death of Europe") I also think: "I wish he were ours" (USA)! Not to worry, Mr. Murray belongs to all the world especially in this relentlessly global day and age.

I love the fact that Douglas speaks his mind, no holds barred, and uses facts rather than his emotions to prop up his points. I’m disgusted with the way some media companies portray themselves.

Im not trying to have a go at you so don't take it that way but England did try to genocide the Irish. During the famine, France sent ships of food to Ireland. The English blocked them from delivering. It's true. You can look it up. Their was an English army persons diary found with all of this information. Granted he could have been biased but it shows what the report just said wasn't true in my opion. This brings everything else he said into douth aswell. Untill I can prove his word right I'll remain sceptical.

That being said, I agree to always take everything with a grain of salt. I don’t know enough about the topic to solidify my stance, but I simply appreciate the difference in his construction of an argument compared to typical American media which bases it’s argument on feelings more so.

A society pushed to the extreme will often settle for the opposite, we've seen it happen time and time again. I am sure those perpetuating these ideas are aware of this fact

I come from a line of Dutchmen (Voortrekkers) whose forefathers were held in concentration camps in South Africa under British Rule. Many women and children died of diseases and starvation in those concentration camps. It happened about 100 years ago and I can't tell you that I'm affected by that today, nor is it reason for me to hate the late Queen or anyone of British decent. It is in the past and I don't allow it to dictate my future. May the Queen rest in peace and may Brittian be under God's immeasurable grace.

If you enjoy good poetry, Rudyard Kipling wrote a great one, in the voice of a British soldier expressing his respect for the Boers he had been paid to fight. The Afrikaner government then oppressed the black majority for about 40 years (apartheid). Now the black majority government has been marginalising and oppressing the white minority for the past 28 years (broad-based black economic empowerment). It is a nauseating cycle. Let our past only serve the purpose of a mere schoolmaster, one that we learn from, and one whose mistakes we dare not repeat.
