Picked one up a few weeks ago love it, much easier to hold than my pixel 2 XL and battery life is way better. Great phone.

kapil busawah I love it mate, especially upgrading from a Windows lumia 550 phone! I downloaded the the oreo android update recently. Performance on the phone is great. No issues on multiple tabs, camera loads up quick, battery life is better than my last phone, resolution is great and overall yes I like it!! 😁 The new experia phones have great features I wish my phone had 😔

CallMeNumber I don't own the phone, but according to other reviews you can expect a minimum of around 7 hours mixed use, probably more if you're not gaming/stressing out the phone.

How do you find the curved back? Looks like it could be awkward to use whilst lying flat on a table?

I love the new design, if you are in doubt go to you local retailer and check it out. The only thing I dislike is the location of the fingerprint sensor, due to the curved back it's very nice to hold in your hand. It's a very very fast phone, great battery life, screen looks amazing, very good sound for a phone and the wireless charger works fine with even a cheap aliexpress qi charger :) And best of all it has the Sony quality feel and looks, this is not a cheap China phone people.

If you already have the s9 plus you might as well keep it, its a great phone and i'd sell it next year when the xz3 is released.

The screen resolution is not bad, 1080p is good enough for the size and at the first start you can choose what Sony applications are going to be installed.

FHD+ is only due to the 2:1 aspect ratio, otherwise it's just 1080p and on a screen that size it's clearly enough.

Bushangels I can but things just get ridiculous at UHD. I think QHD is the sweet spot between resolution and battery. IME my XZPREMIUM has been a champ on its battery.

And with a case on I never miss the fingerprint scanner which is much more reliable than my old s8

FHD+ is perfect for battery and performance so don't be disappointed phones like Huawei p20 and mate 10 pro are more expensive but still have FHD+ screens although mate 10 pro may have dropped in price

Sh0ckw4v3 yeah but mate 10 is the cheaper version their "flagships" all have oled panels or high resolution screens or both. Its just a thing that when theyre paying big bucks they want the best. I just dont think some ppl are willing to pay 800 dollars for a 1080 lcd with no stand out features.

Best24 mate 10 has a higher resolution than pro what I'm saying that we shouldn't be surprised nor disappointed that the xz2 has a LCD with a graphics engine booster which makes it look closer to oled than let's say iPhone 8 although I wish Sony upgraded to oled but I think they don't need to because they have mastered making good LCDs

Sh0ckw4v3 yeah i know i have the xz1 and the screen is great and i know the xz2 screen is great but its just the overall phone is lacking compared to other flagships and its price point if it was just thinner or had a headphone jack i would probably got it. It just doesnt feel like a upgrade worth 800 euros.I think i will just wait for the xz2 pro.

steve Lawson no bro. I mean at this point I'm starting to think that Touch Wiz *cough I mean Samsung experience has more design character. SONY's skin is not stock but it's stylish and light. That's a great combo and reminds me of older great HTC's like the M8. Not the design but the philosophy of light on android but heavy in character

Old design to me was better.. They just need to make it 18:9 ratio.

Previous design was better, just the front had to be adjusted for the new display size. The back looks like the u11

I have both this phone and previous Xperia phones and by far prefer the look of this

Sony is obviously a manufacturer of yesterday. If you of some reason hate Apple, Samsung, Huawei, LG, ZTE, Oppo and all other successful brands... This Sony could be your best choice!

What features is it lacking that the rest have? another biased review. I'll wait for the Xz2 premium though, i'm sure these guys at techradar would claim it lacks more features as well even though it has a 4k screen and not one of the competition has one.

Yeah same here, 4K HDR recording...its jam packed for the price and the compact will be just as good, Lets not forget who made waterproofing mainstream!!

How is the s9 any better?

Owned the z3 for three years and liked it a lot.... Decided to get this last week and I love it so far, does e erythi g with ease and screen is great.... I owned many phones and this so far is the best...... If only the fingerprint scanner was a bit higher, but hey first world problem.

Will get this once it's sub 400 dollars, which I'm sure will happen soon lol.

I paid 550 euro's and get a free headphone with a retail value of 350 euro. I could sell the headphone for 200..250 and end up paying 300...350 for the phone. Some people also sell the phone and the headphone and make a profit of about a 100 euro. Of course these are prices for renewal of subscription.

It looks better than Oneplus's phone, it performs better, actually has optimisation, is cheaper than the OP6 and is made by a company who knows how to make a good phone.

Still very satisfied with this phone, the free headphone I got from Sony is the best wireless headphone I ever used. Model WH-1000XM2 has great audio performance and I never expected ANC to be so good.

Sticking with my XZPremium... Better screen, 3.5mm jack, Xz2 has same camera sensor as Premium, just updated processing software... Speakers are bit louder on the 2, but not worth the price...you can get a pre-owned unlocked premium for about £200-£300 now...

Glass back? Well thats me out. Last Sony phone I had with a glass back cracked while charging... No word of a lie, it was on charge over night and woke up the phone was hot and the back had a spiderweb style crack. Replaced it and while recording the phone got warm, not hot, and the cracks slowly moved across the back glass. So its metal or plastic backed phones for me from now on. Ive currently had a Sony Xperia X for 2 years, its been bumped and banged in that time and even once or twice pulled and pushed onto the floor by the cat... And because its a metal back its not had a scratch in 2 years. So screw this cheap glass back fashion trend. My search continues

You forgot to mention that this phone is also dust and water resistant with an IP68 rating. I think this is actually a far better proposition in 2019, if you don't mind a phone from last year. There are some very good contract deals now, proving that it pays to wait to buy! A great all round phone which surely would satisfy everyone except perfectionists!! I think Samsung are overrated and cost way too much for many. And don't mention the vulnerable screens which seem to crack or shatter very easily! Forget the fancy tech-I would want a phone capable of withstanding a nuclear blast for what their "flagship" phones cost! So well done Sony for making a great device for more savvy owners :)

this is the best looking phone in my opinion, not a fan of the curved corner screens on most new phones, and i love the box look sony has kept with all their phones, really premium looking phone

Samsung and apple ia overrated. I mean... Theyre good but people buy them just because its more popular. I have used samsung s8 plus, iphone 7 plus then sony xz1. I stayed with my xz1. The camera is sooooo amazing. Even in low light. Front facing cam is amazing as well. Battery life is excellent enough i use data mostly. gives me 4-6 hours screen on time. Doesnt lag. Sony really made me feel contented. LIKE I Dont care if my phone isnt the popular one but im very happy with it. It made me mature in a way hehe .

Assen Mantchev any iPhone has better LCD than Sony. Htc is no slouch too, and makes definitely smoother, better optimized, better sounding and more durable performance and build wise phones than Sony. But none of them has better display than Galaxies and iPhone X.

The iphone x screen is comparable to the screen on my XZs (tested side by side). The iphone is only better in dark images because of the OLED panel it uses. The rest is either draw or a win for the sony, they feel like tiny Bravia TVs in your hands. They are also very durable and tend to remain smooth in my experience. Not to mention the constant software updates....

The actual quality in night shots is better than all of Sony's competitors, but the device has to be stable for best results.

This phone is such a win in so many ways. It's a shame they removed the headphone jack

Better design than last gen, that said why place the camera that low and the fingerprint even lower? This phone is way over priced for what it offers especially with the likes of one plus. Don't even get me started with comparing this to the S9+ or the Pixel XL2. Not in the same league....I love the underdog and was hoping for a killer phone and this isn't it.

But hey, it was you the reviewers of the phone that wanted this? So when Sony gives you what you want, it still wrong and feels after the rest. Sure I do not like the new looks of these phones, but the hardware is hardly after the rest. It can whip many of the others brands phones without blinking. Cant understand what is it Sony lacks? I really don't get it? The problem why Sony dont stand out anymore, isnt hardware inside its shell, it its looks. The design is blend. Sony has followed what reviewers critised Sony for ages now, the design. The did change the design, but yeh, now the reviewers want no bezels at all. I guess thats why Sony is after. Sony has no design language of their own anymore. Thanks to you guys, the reviewers. For the first time in years I aint even really interested in any brands phones, not even my favorite brand... Sony. Sony looks just like the others, so their you have it. The reason why its not really standing out. Its a Samsung, HTC, NOKIA, Motorola, LG and so on look-a-like. Due to upgrade my z5 but I'm giving this a miss ,doesn't do much for me,.camera seems underwhelming,,nothing new ,....think I will wait and see what comes out later in the day.,.....and Sony has always had problems taking pictures in low light,really poor .,....they really need to do a bit more for the money they are asking for,.

It's FHD+ not FHD. It was 19 megapixels in xz1 and not 23. This reviewer is weakly informed in many things.

It's not the best phone. Main reason is that lack of a jack, no gesture control on the finger print reader and an impractical design. The design is great to look at but it won't stay put.

XZ2 has better camera than S9. I own XZ2 for a week and I was very suprised how much is the camera better than my previous Xperia Z3+. In my private test, Z3+ takes slightly better pics than Galaxy S8. In real world, XZ2 is the best phone today. There is an USB-C - Audio adapter for wired headphones. That's because it's an HDR video. This is what an HDR content looks like on a non compatible HDR device. Moreover, this review isn't HDR either, that doesn't help.

1366solar in some cases, yes, like in xperia L1, but in xa1 and above that it had a pretty unique and elegant look, not just that, before L1 there were many xperia with that premium look, this xz2 looks as generic as all the shitty phones out there

Once upon a time, Sony used to make great smartphone like the Xperia Z and X series, now they morph them together to make an ugly child which only concentrates at being its own thing. Which it is, but is not its best part.
