That is the best thing about it but kinda the only good thing. Everything else feels a like it comes a little short, no? I talk about this in a video. I really wanted to like this phone. I wish there were more small options. Please, watch the video if you care about these things haha. I really wish the market understood how important a small phone is.

I cannot understand, why everybody is criticizing plastic materials on smartphones, they usually have good grip, are tough, not slippery, allow for inductive charging and good signal reception, etc. The only drawback might be bad heat conduction. Glass is brittle and slippery, metal is ductile, worsens the signal transmittance and is prone to scratches if coated for colouring. Glass and metal both are actually bad choices from a functional design perspective.

I like the rear except for its round shape. Although it makes the phone comfortable to hold it makes it look fat and old. I also would have preferred the top and bottom bezels to be curved just to give it that flagship feel.

@RandomUser221 I got my XZ2c for 499 USD and the Geekbench scores I got on this thing were better than the s8, s8+, s9, note 7, note 8, pixel 3, pixel 3 XL, and the oneplus 6.

Seriously people, screw big phones !! I have never ever felt comfortable holding a big phone, Sony does provide us good specs in a small phone, what's better than that, I am Sony Xperia Z3 Compact user, I love the phone but it has some issues, but at least it is easy to carry, easy to hold.. I might consider buying this phone XZ2 Compact, if I get money xD

In my opinion 5" - 5.5" is the sweet spot for phone's chassis. You can hold it nicely and it's like just right size

Honestly, most people are gonna put a case on their phone so how premium it feels really isn't relevant (to me). The phone also feels really solid in the hand, thanks to the thicker design it sits in my hand really comfortably. I upgraded to this phone from my Xperia X and I'm really happy with what I got. Definitely recommend.

Having used xz2, i missed that phone. Its beautiful, its well made, and the feel in the hand is great too.

I own the Sony Xperia XZ2 compact green version. I love the built of this Sony. It's not cheap built. It's firm and solid in your hands. It has a nice weight to it. And the size is perfect. Easy to hold. So there aren't negative thinks to speak of. Very happy with it.

What a terrible review, does not even mention the niche aspect in which this phone is trying to exceed in - usability and holdability. It just talks about the aspects that the rest of the market is fighting over - tech specs that only geeks care about

I think so too. The size is great! Easy to handle with one hand.

Lacklustre design? This is great and practical design, and no worries of fragile glass back.

I kinda like the design of this phone, it reminds me of some Lumia phones, which were greatly built and felt great in the hand.

Thanks for the review. I think I'm going to go for the XZ1 Compact as the new design is not to my taste, and I'm not ready to give up the 3.5mm headphone jack.

As a user of one I do not agree with "Bulky" or "Plasticky". If You chose a phone by material as a priority, go and by a VERTU but stop whining here :) Even so it is a subjective matter.

@Hollanda1975 hmm, I just ordered a copy. I hope the issues were just isolated incidents. I agree with you on the shutter speed. I am coming from a Pixel 2. But playing around with the device at Best Buy and I realized that the faster shutter speed only works when you are in manual camera mode, not software auto mode.

Why can’t they just make a new Sony Xperia Z3 compact with quick charge and a better battery? And better camera and screen etc? Other than that that phone is my all time favorite and I currently have a Sony Xperia X compact

What is your obsession with glass backs? They are prone to cracking and breaks and at some point, you will slap a case or a cover over it anyway... Plastic lasts longer and also is less slippery ... You have also missed out the Xperia goodies like Xperia Actions, Xperia Tips which are tucked inside

Honestly, I am fine with the plastic feel and small size. Not everyone is out to show off their phones. I like that it is a power house steallthy small and discrete mini flagship for 2018.

Sony’s compacts have always felt like premium devices. I don’t get how they fucked the design of this up. I mean come on Sony!!!

I love it. The best compact phone on the market now.

I really love small phones and this year it is really hard to get a good one so Sony is on my list and I will buy this phone.

Why do you wear 2 watch?

Its a great device, however it gets quickly very hot on normal climate temperatures, it tends to slip of the hands , no appropriate casing from Sony ...Sony customer support failed to address the overheating problems despite repeated emails at my end .

Great review with good samples of shot! If they're not gonna include the wireless charge then should make the phone in aluminum unibody instead of plastic back imo.

I`m comparing Sony Xperia XA2 and Sony Xperia XZ2 Compact. Battery is XA2 3300 mAh (endurance 92) hours and XZ2 Compact 2870 mAh (endurance 88 hours). Is the difference really only 4 hours between those two?

Picture, but mainly sound is better. Hi-res audio. And LDAC (hi-res Bluetooth) Is the selling point. Both headphones and Bluetooth devices sound 10x better. (cheap generic headphones/speakers sound like quality. Brand name = even better) (other sony products with hi-res) Since I've used and gotten used to the sound quality. Nothing else sound the same. I don't have hi-res audio but am majorly impressed. (they would sound even better)

I love the Sony phones... so glad they are still making smaller devices; I hate those giant phones. Maybe I'll wait until next gen when they hopefully add wireless charging and bring back the 3.5mm jack.

This is not a good review at all. The reviewer makes arbitrary comments such as he did on the battery life of the phone. It is in fact not a review just an opinion piece.

Amazing internal specs but such a dated design, I'll skip this one for sure.

Its a great and fast phone , however pay attention to factory installed APP's such as AWS which is a huge spying device , this APP will track all your movements especially purchase and credit card history ,it also collecting lots of other ads from other APP's the APP can not be removed and if disabled ( cause serious intereferance ) The phone gets hot during summer climate in Europe eventhough not exposed to sun at all , the cam shutter is way to slow and complicate in Whatsup mode , screen cam , video and flash modes hardly visible on screen , no protective case the phone will soon slip of your hands but in general is a great device unless more surprizes during long term operations . Sony Customer support Europe a worthless piece of S !

What a piece of junk this so called "smartphone" is... after 1 year of countless updates the touch screen is still problematic(production fail). The battery doesn't last 1day of normal use... It is overheating while playing games, filming in 4k, using skype etc. The glass gets scratched really really easy. Can't use the headphones anymore because the usb port is defective(usb auto-detection failed errors)I've had only issues with it. And i thought the z5 compact was a bad phone, no more Sony for me ever again!

Paid apple fanboy... We don't care :) we are happy with our superior sony phones!

It looks like it should have been few years ago, not in 2018, looks like midrange king... $400-500 kinda phone, tops!!! Just put a 6 series Snapdragon processor and suddenly it will make more sense.... No fast charger in the box? Copying iPhone X package, LOL (I bought Moto X4 for £199 recently and it had fast charger in the box, just saying, COME ON!!!!!!!) Sony, come on, we love your phones of future past, not this, noooooo.... 😭😭😭

Phone with No Headphone Jack will never attract real music lover like me. Xz1 is a better choice.
