Sony can stand toe to toe with Apple and Samsung. Actually the quality of their phones have been for years but they're not aggressive enough with marketing. Loving my XZ PREMIUM but just wish they removed the oversharpening in the camera

Thanks! Unfortunately I don't quite remember where I got the wallpaper though. 😂 It could be just one of the default wallpaper? I normally either use the default ones or just go for one in the Google Wallpapers apps.

Small but potent - I like what you did there ;)

just update launcher to the last version, (apk from apkmirror site), it should have double tap to sleep and swipe-up to open app draw. double tap to wake it's NOT A LAUNCHER FEATURE, it's a feature of android kernel.

Design flaw: the top and bottom horizontal edges are very sharp and uncomfortable to hold.

I love this phone. Just bought mine last week. Android oreo is buggy though, a bit tolerable for now.

The xperia xz1 isn't a upgrade to the xz premium. Xz premium is the real flagship as it has the same hardware but on top of that a 4k hdr screen.

Price of this phone in 2019 ???

+Bryan Lee actually for me it's still the XZ1 compact. The software experience is nearer to stock Android, Sony is better at software updates, the 960fps camera is pretty nice, the battery life is great, and it's IP68 too. Haha.

Is it still worth getting this phone at the end of 2018? I'm planning to replace my Z5 Compact, was thinking of XZ2 Compact but its design is kind of unsatisfying for me.

I would say it all depends on the price. If it's cheaper than the xz2 compact, for sure it's still worth it. SD835 is a very capable chipset.

Alex Hong Thank you for the reply. I can get XZ1C at around $449 at Best Buy, price is not really a problem for me. What I want to know is, if there are any issues related to processor or battery warming/heating up. Also, for how long will the XZ1C get software update support? Since it came with Oreo out of the box, it should get 2 more major Android updates, right?

+guiyeii if you enjoy the smaller phone for factor, definitely. The XZ1 compact is an upgrade over the X compact in almost every way. Better performance, battery life, camera, thermal management, water resistance, speakers. Even if you don't care for her 3D stuff or ultra slow motion video capture, it's still a nice device. :)

Sony should make their next compact flagship phone, with their epic ARC design, that's would make Sony great again

How can you hide its on screen softkey? It turns 4.6 inch display into 4.3 inch one, actually.

I don't think there's a built in immersive mode all the time? it normally hides itself in certain full screen apps. :)

Sadly, Sony no longer producing compact phones and the last compact phones like xz, you won't find them in Southafrica.

Is it sony xperia xz1 compact has more longer battery life than mate 10?i don't care about size of the phone but which one is better in all aspects. I hope someone can give some info.

I haven't had the chance to use the mate10 yet, so it's hard to say. But compared to the mate 9. i think the xz1 compact has slightly better battery life. But it could also be because it's a smaller screen, so i consume less media on it.

you have to download the pixel launcher apk and then manually install it ya. apkmirror should have them. :)

i think the one i used here is a default wallpaper, if not i often just use Google's wallpaper app. :)

if both were brand new, the battery life is better on the XZ 1 compact since the screen is smaller, and lower resolution at 720p only. Specs wise the XZ2 Compact is pretty much an incremental upgrade all round. Except that it doesn't have a headphone jack anymore. So i guess it would depend on the price now? Personally, i do like the xz2 compact a little better just because of the better screen and how it looks. 😂

@@axhng Much appreciated! My worry was about size since xz2 compact seems to be much thicker and heavier. Do they feel about the same in hand? Is price about the same for used ones in Singapore? In US xz2 compact is significantly more expensive ($300 vs $210). also does the dual SIM works well on xz2 compact?

if budget allows and you don't mind iOS, i would say iPhone 7. It's a more complete package in terms of hardware in my opinion. Especially if you play a lot of games, most games performs better on iOS. It will also get updates for a longer period of time.
