the reason fingerprint doesnt is disabled is because some sort of licensing, its like if they want to be able to sell in the US they have to disable it, i bougth an xperia x compact from amazon and flashed the latin american firmware and works like a charm, you can also flash UK firmware. www.androidcentral.com/sony-fingerprint-sensors-us-deals

Thanks! I just bought the Xz1 compact! It's amazing! Mobile Hotspot is unlocked, unlike Pixel XL2. Small screens are so easy! The Xperia interface setup was so inviting and interesting. First time I got a Sony, and I'm happier than my one plus 2,3,axon 7.

Love this phone. I was not very much into the previous compact as it had way too many compromises compared to past compact phones but this one looks to be back in the game.

Great review, beautiful phone... and that is because of it's bezels and thickness! I had to use a Samsung S8 for a few days and I hated this soapy shiny slippery big thing of glass so much, never knew how to hold it because of it's Infinity Display and size. I hope Sony will bring an Xperia XZ2 Compact with the same size as before and maybe a slightly bigger 4.8 inch Full HD-Display, USB 3.1 and OIS! Would be the perfect phone for me.

Snapdragon 835 should perform like a monster with a 720p display!

watching this on my X Compact. I'm glad that Sony never gave up on their compact range. not all wants the biggest screen. and i don't really mind the bezels as long as they keep the front facing speakers and waterproofing.

Watching this on HTC one M7, no joke this video made me dig it up and plug it in. I must say that even though it's so old the screen quality is amazing.

Junaid M it was and still to this day the most innovative phone that came out comparing to others. It blows my mind that it had 1080p screen in 2013 and iPhone still to this day is stuck on 720p. I don't blame you, it really was a great phone. Hell put a SD 835 and Android 7.1 or 8.0 and I'll buy it again.

M Morales I'm still holding onto HTC 10 as well, use it around the house for like you said audio. My main sim is in U11. Still wish HTC didn't remove the audio jack from their new phones even though the earbuds that came with it are really good.

reason why sony disables the fingerprint scanner.comes down to paying royalties to some USA company.sony doesn't feel like paying for it.so it disables it since the USA market is very small. you can find this article somewhere on google.android authority wrote a article about it.

I have the Sony Xperia z3 compact and its awesome! I'm not gonna upgrade it soon cause it's still a beast! Sony makes the best smartphone 📱 ever!

I've had it for 2 weeks now and loving it. Owned an iphone SE before; great phone but i'm enjoying the Compact's slightly larger screen. Took me a little bit of time to get used to android's sometimes very confusing environment but fully enjoying it now.

It reminds you of a time when phones were easier on your life. Now... your phablet is like an AI baby constantly screaming for your attention with flashing notifications about chats and updates and whatnot. I miss my Samsung SGH D600. I was the last one in my generation to get a phone, and then the last one to upgrade to a touchscreen phone lmao.

My God! Just bought this phone and totally destroys my Samsung S7. The stereo speakers, the crazy battery life (2 days with heavy usage ). I know it's the chip from last year, but the experience it's almost stock android as the Nokia 8! You can get it for less than 350£ here in the UK. The fingerprint very accurate. Well come back Sony. I didnt have a Sony since my z ultra!

Sony Xperia Z5 Compact user here! I went back to that phone from Moto Z because I miss one-handed usability. Not only that, but I can charge and listen to music too! Since Sony stopped updating the Z5 series, I had it running with LineageOS. 👍

Watching on my XZ1 compact. Awesome screen and battery life.

Sony this year is finally back as it was with the Z3. Great camera, sound, battery life, UI, etc.

I bought this phone to use as my DAP. Interface is years above iBasso, Hiby, Fiio, A&K...

I'm waiting for a silver XZ1 Compact to arrive today. It's for my wife, but don't tell her as it's a surprise. I hope she likes it!

I had the X Compact for a year and it's been great, I'll be upgrading to this next year, it's all I'll ever need.

I'm a sony fan and a fan of compact phones. I hope sony make it more interesting, they keep making same features over the years. Awesome review!

Brilliant phone great battery and runs great, very underrated phone. I had the Z3 compact was a great phone aswell but had to use inside the cover all the time because it was glass all round and too slippy.

I like what I am seeing....Would be cooler to keep same sized body but make the screen bigger....Sony has always made the best phones I think.

I used to own the z1 compact, I miss it. because of that one small thing

I've been thinking about the Honor 9, but this really caught my interest. It's 50€ more than the Honor, but that one-handed usability is something I miss from the olden days. Besides that, the phones aren't too different in terms of specs and stuff. A little more storage and RAM on the Honor, but a 5.15" screen. Nevertheless, I'm not buying a phone until Christmas time (provided I'll get together money for a phone even then) so something new might come out. Hoping for a Samsung A3 2018, but it's not looking good. Everything these days is 6" 18:9 screens. Not my cup of tea in the least.

I love small phones and use a Samsung A3 2017 with 4.7 inch. It has no on screen buttons like Sony so it has more screen to use. I like it just the camera could be a bit better. I would love S8 mini !

The problem/good thing about LG phones is that their value absolutely tanks. Good if you waited to buy, horrible if you bought one at launch. My X compact is nearly worth the same amount USED as what I got it for a year ago. Sony phones hold their value incredibly well.

Real Camera Review on XZ1 Compact please!

just bought this used to replace a late 2018 g5 plus. The screen colours and clarity look killer on this phone it sounds great the glove mode is great as i ride a motorbike waterproof is nice slow mode is nice but the size oh my god the size i love this phone. would have got the newer one but no headphone jack sod that. really nice phone it looks mint wish they had made it grippy though no need for smooth. much less chance of dropping it now i dont have to juggle to use my phone one handed

I'm still using the XZ1 Compact after over a year of use. Check out the Ringke Fusion case, I have the clear/smoke grey version. It makes it feel more solid, the buttons are still clicky and the fingerprint sensor is still fully accessible. Although it feels less slim with the case on, I do like the feel of the phone itself in the hand. I've used it in the snow with glove mode and snow melt on it, it really works like a dream. It's just a damn good all round small phone and is fast as. I downloaded the Rootless Pixel Launcher from the Google Play Store which makes the home screen look a bunch nicer. I honestly wish I got the XZ2 Compact now just for looks and future proofing.

@@ytlurker220 sadly I'm taking the phone back. Bought it from cex and they took 5 days to send it and sent it with the wrong lead. Asked them to send a lead first class and they didn't they said they will send it on Monday so basically 11 days to get a working phone plus its network locked. Wish they had kept the micro usb and the newer one has no headphone jack so not for me. If I hadn't waited 3 days for an unlock code that didn't work I probably would have kept it

@@ytlurker220 I put video live wallpaper and cut a clip from the avengers as my wallpaper. I have transformers, the warriors, planet of the apes and avengers oh and equilibrium. Wallpapers. I did a video on them on my channel they look really cool but you need too use really good quality video and for the xz1 you will need a different app called video live wallpaper the app icon is a little colourful house about 3rd down on the play store

@@luc1ferblack micro USB is a lot slower and the cable can only be inserted one way. You can use any USB-C cable from a local shop and plug it into a USB wall adaptor or a computer to charge. You don't necessarily need the official Sony charge adaptor. I'd still encourage you to try out the Rootless Pixel Launcher with your live wallpapers. You can enable it by searching "Home app" in settings.

The phone market in North America needs more compact phones like this ! This Sony Xperia is great but a little pricey for me.

Just got mine and I have the fingerprint sensor as I'm in the UK. Moving up from the X Compact which also had the sensor, and I must say it's one of my favourite features. Don't understand why the US version doesn't have it. Great review man, looking forward to getting to know my ZX1 Compact 👏

I totally love the idea of a powerful small phone. When I switched to Cricket I bought an LG Risio for like $10 new at the store. I totally loved the size and it was pretty responsive (with Android 6) but it only had like 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, and a somewhat wimpy CPU. I've got a OnePlus 3T now, but feel it's too big. I may have to get one of these XZ1 compacts... Thanks for a really in depth review of it.

My biggest qualm with last year Xperia X compact was the price at launch. I believe there is a market for one handed phones that could compete with the iPhone SE in the $349-399 price bracket.

Was there a video about the Xperia XZ Premium?

A lot of reviews say the camera's low light performance isn't quite as good as current flagships. How does the camera stand up against something like an iPhone SE? (My current phone.)

Love the design, and it seems like a pretty complete package but pricing is... a bit high. Even if I prefer Android, I'd get iPhone SE over this one. Great review, as usual! :)

Do these new xperia phones still have issues like the original Z and Z1? Where after a year or so of usage, the adhesive gluing the back of the glass becomes loose and a corner of the back can somewhat lift. I'm using my old xperia Z1s as a music player since battery life is excellent but it's useless as a camera now, because of the lifting of the back glass.

My fingerprint scanner works great. I miss some feedback in the button though. The other xperia I have, x compact, makes click you feel in your finger, xz1 gives no feedback. Is it just mine??

im seriously considering the xz1 compact. but the double tap to wake feature is gone right? Anyone know whether the 4G LTE network will work in Canada or China? im buying the phone in China but moving to Canada in the future

Juan does android pay work on this device in the US? I can overlook fingerprint reader but I think the specs are really awesome for this form factor. I tried the XZ premium in a local Best Buy and man it was really snappy.,no lag at all. Also, the dedicated camera button feature is overlooked and underrated ..can you please please please let me know about the android pay please? I am planning to ditch my iPhone 7 and get this phone tomorrow..I need to know about the android pay as I use that a lot...please advise 🙏🏽

Does the phone supports landscape stereo sound (aka Does it have a second speaker on the bottom)? I've had my Z5 Compact for some time now and it's been failing the top speaker, so I though on getting a new one.

At 6.26 you mentioned my annoying gripe with Sony. I haven't used Sony for a few years now, but those damn square corners get caught in the top corner of jeans every single time, so it's a struggle to get it out. I wish they would just round off those sharp corners.

Shame they can’t even activate the finger scanner. Would’ve been even greater. Liking what they're doing this year. All they need to do now is clean up that camera app a little more and go with a new but also familiar design. Does look kinda stale now.

What's with the icons at the top jiggling about every time the data arrows flash?? You can see it at 7:12. I think I would find that really annoying/distracting if it was a constant occurrence... Reviewer? Anyone else? Has it been fixed with a software update?
