Thanks for reviewing this, currently budgeting a new replacement for my phone with this being its alternative. Is there any recent updates to the game optimization/ or in-game center suite (OriginOS) to force frame interpolation in selected games, ones that aren't reliant on being the CN ver / global ver. I'm aware the 1+ Ace 3/ 3 Pro offers the gaming features, but ain't a big fan of its screen and selection of camera hardware.
@axhng2 күн бұрын
hi there. no updated to the game features still unfortunately, and the game will need to be whitelisted by the phone before the frame interpolation feature will show up. So like Genshin for example, the global client won't show the option for frame interpolation at all, unlike the OnePlus CN phones which is a bit more general. IIRC it was the same for Xiaomi too. 😅

i have no idea actually since CN side they usually don't mention this. looking at www.vivo.com.cn/originos the oldest mid range phone that is listed to have originOS4 is S12 series which is around 2-3 years old, it might be around there. but this is just a guess of course, and nothing is certain. security patches wise, i have no clue at all since I only started using CN phones this year. but at least in the 2 months that I've been using Neo9S Pro, i've gotten the June patch last month, and then just earlier today the July patch. no idea if they will keep this pace up in the long run or not though, but it's looking to be better than Xiaomi at least.

the green line will probably have a chance of appearing on all phones with OLED screens, since that's just the result of screen failure. my guess is it's something related to heat damaging the display, and since a lot of the older sony phones don't have great thermals, and the 5iii is using the hot SD888, my guess is that it'll have a higher chance of getting green lines too.

Hi, i am based in SG and is looking to get this phone in Chinese ROM. i would like to know if there is any differences between global ROM that I should be aware of? Thanks!!!
@axhng24 күн бұрын
hi, the main thing to note is probably that some google features won't work. Like Google Location History (affects Google Opinion Rewards, Google location timeline), Nearby Share (nearby file sharing i think? and maybe Android Wear won't work properly? not too sure about this since I don't use those features), and no Android Auto. There might be others I'm not aware of though since I there are a lot of google services I don't use. then the more minor stuff is probably notifications delay for some apps, but that can be easily fixed by changing app settings to let them run in background. there are CN apps preinstalled too, but most of them can be removed. then there are some CN specific features that won't work without a CN oppo account like some of their AI stuff. the plus side of CN ROM is that they have more options for customisation compared to Global OxygenOS/ColorOS, and they offer more granular controls over app permissions. This is just software, and hardware wise the Ace3 seems to be slightly better compared to the 12R. UFS 4.0 vs 3.1, and Ace3 has the Pixelworks X7 Visual Processor (some gaming features uses this for frame interpolation, etc).

will u review the iQOO Neo9S Pro+ too? and is the camera on these 2 phones better than on oneplus's nord 4?
@axhng25 күн бұрын
probably won't be, since I've already tried a few SD8Gen3 phones and other than that, bigger battery, and the fingerprint sensor, they're probably very similar. SD8Gen3 and D9300+ perform quite similarly anyway. Hardware wise the Neo9S Pro does have better camera sensors for both the main and ultrawide. not sure about main camera performance, but if the nord 4's ultrawide camera is the same 8MP sensor they've been using on their lower end devices, like the Ace3 for example, it likely wouldn't be as good as the neo9s Pro or Pro+. OnePlus' front camera image processing tends to be a bit more natural looking as well compared to iQOO's in general.
@kae267825 күн бұрын
@@axhngThat makes sense. The nord 4's ultrawide is pretty bad yeah, both the front and the ultrawide seem the same to Ace3 by specs alone. Hi, I have question for you, I want to buy a new phone and I have 2 phone that I consider to buy, between this Oneplus Ace 3 vs Redmi K70 which one you think is better value for the money ? Here in Malaysia the different in price around RM100 (SGD28) which is K70 a little bit cheaper than Ace 3. For the preference I actually prefer flat screen more than curve screen but for the software I never use ColorOS or HyperOS before (been using OneUI for the past 4 years) but based on review that I watched I think I prefer ColorOS more than HyperOS, so which phone do you think better/good for me ?
@axhngАй бұрын
the difference isn't huge and specs wise the Ace3 looks better. bigger battery, better screen, better fingerprint sensor, and OnePlus tends to have slightly better gaming performance where as Xiaomi usually is a little more conservative. But you'll have to see if having a curve screen is annoying enough for you or not... screen protectors for curve screens are harder to apply, and also cost more. Personally I tried a few, and the type that works best is the UV film type that similar to the ones they give out of the box. But they're still not as lasting as glass, especially the oleophobic coating, they are harder to apply since you literally only get 1 chance. a single speck of dust, and that's it. I think i probably ruined 2 before i got it right. even then, those are still more expensive than tempered glass. if you can wait a bit, perhaps you could consider the upcoming Nord 4 as well which is a little less powerful, but should have a flat screen, and will be running global ROM which is easier i guess. For Ace 3 you'll have to make sure the phone has been region unlocked as well so you can use it outside of China, so a bit more hassle there. Redmi is a little more hassle free in this regard since they don't have region lock.
@pudinichigo91Ай бұрын
@@axhng thank you for the very fast reply, I really appreciated you take some time to write a very detailed review/option, I guess I will wait for a bit and see what the Nord 4 can offer and for the spec I think there's will be not much different from Ace 3V other than the design only
@axhngАй бұрын
@@pudinichigo91 no problem! hopefully there'll be a bit more than that since for Nord 3 i think they upgraded the camera over the ace2v as well. since from photos the nord4 camera placement is different, it might mean they changed some other things too internally. performance wise 7+Gen3 is not too far behind 8Gen2 anyway unless you're planning to play very demanding games on it.

@axhngАй бұрын
@@pudinichigo91 between the two, maybe CN HyperOS by a small margin. To me it has a nicer layout on the homescreen when it comes to large folders, I like the more iOS style control centre and notification centre, it has a bit more gaming features (like in genshin being able to run the game at higher resolution natively), it has a manual video mode (something that OPPO refuses to add for some reason), and i find HyperOS a bit better in terms of auto brightness adjustment. Just that xiaomi is a little slower when it comes to updates, and "smoothness" probably is a little behind ColorOS 14 (the latests few versions). Also, xiaomi isn't doing any of the nonsense region lock like OnePlus is doing for their CN phones, so it's a little easier in that sense too. But these will differ from person to person i guess and for some, might not be a deal breaker at all. 😅

Hi Alex, do you have any problem with notification especially with Whatapp when you using OnePlus with color os china rom ? Like notification got delay or no notification at all when you left phone locked/screen off ?
hi there, for notifications, have to change app settings to allow them to run in the background, etc. if not there will be delay or even no notification until reopen the app. It's the same for all the CN phones I've tested so far though. but once changed, then notifications would come in as per usual.
@@axhng I recently bought phone with HyperOS China rom, even I already did what you mentioned like set app to auto start, disable battery restrictions & locked app on recent apps I still got delayed or something not getting any notification at all for Whatapp until I turned on the screen or unlock the phone, so I decided to sold those phone and now planning to buy OnePlus with ColorOS if there's no problem with notification, especially with Whatapp
Thanks for reviewing this, currently budgeting a new replacement for my phone with this being its alternative. Is there any recent updates to the game optimization/ or in-game center suite (OriginOS) to force frame interpolation in selected games, ones that aren't reliant on being the CN ver / global ver. I'm aware the 1+ Ace 3/ 3 Pro offers the gaming features, but ain't a big fan of its screen and selection of camera hardware.
hi there. no updated to the game features still unfortunately, and the game will need to be whitelisted by the phone before the frame interpolation feature will show up. So like Genshin for example, the global client won't show the option for frame interpolation at all, unlike the OnePlus CN phones which is a bit more general. IIRC it was the same for Xiaomi too. 😅
Bought myself one as my first iPhone
What's the update policy of this phone? Is it the same as the Neo 9 pro global 3 + 4 years?
i have no idea actually since CN side they usually don't mention this. looking at www.vivo.com.cn/originos the oldest mid range phone that is listed to have originOS4 is S12 series which is around 2-3 years old, it might be around there. but this is just a guess of course, and nothing is certain. security patches wise, i have no clue at all since I only started using CN phones this year. but at least in the 2 months that I've been using Neo9S Pro, i've gotten the June patch last month, and then just earlier today the July patch. no idea if they will keep this pace up in the long run or not though, but it's looking to be better than Xiaomi at least.
When ends the security software updates in this phone? Have it 2 years now.
Does it has green line problem as found in Xperia 5 ii ?
the green line will probably have a chance of appearing on all phones with OLED screens, since that's just the result of screen failure. my guess is it's something related to heat damaging the display, and since a lot of the older sony phones don't have great thermals, and the 5iii is using the hot SD888, my guess is that it'll have a higher chance of getting green lines too.
How many OS years and security years that OnePlus ace 3 provided?
i don't recall any mention of that, but that's the same for most China phones. They usually don't mention or promise the duration OS/security updates.

Poco F6 pro vs OnePlus Ace 3. Which one is better for you? 🙏
personally, probably Ace3 since the hardware is better on paper. bigger battery, nicer screen, better fingerprint sensor, better build quality. I can live with CN software as well. the only thing is perhaps the curve screen which is a bit of a hassle when finding screen protectors. but if it's the K70 Pro, or K70 Ultra, then I'll probably lean towards those more since performance is something i care about. But if you want something with proper global ROM, then no choice but to go with the F6 Pro. 😅
@@axhngfound on Ali, OnePlus ace 3 variant 16/512 gb for 350 euro, and F6 pro 12/256 gb for 333 euro. My only concern is OnePlus main camera. People says it is really weak and even worse than Poco 😐
In country the Redmi K70 (Non Pro) is $30 cheaper, in that price would you recommend it over Oneplus Ace 3?
hmm... i wouldn't recommend it over the Ace3, but it will be a good option if you absolutely don't want a curve screen? If you don't mind it, the Ace3 might still be a worth it since it does have slightly better hardware IMO. Better build quality, bigger battery, nicer screen (resolution is a bit lower but i found the colours and consistency a little better compared to the K70 Pro i had), and the fingerprint sensor position is higher and easier to use.

Hi, it's easy to flash Global rom to this device. Then google pay, android auto will work? Anyone knows?
xdaforums.com/t/ace-3-to-12r-how-i-converted-my-oneplus-ace-3-to-12r.4663519/ AFAIK, it's not easy? and there are issues still from what I've read. if you care about android auto, probably better just to get the official 12R instead or perhaps the 12. I think the CN version of the OnePlus 12 can be converted to global ROM with almost no issue (aside from hardware differences like no eSIM for CN version).
Actually im talking about flashing global rom with google play services installed and locked bootloader for banking apps etc. Its hybrid ROM for Google functions. But allows only manual/local OTA update. On ace 3 forum on xda, please check the thread title : [HOW TO] Install ColorOS "Global" edition and lock bootloader.
@@emrahpoland that seems like some sort of a hybrid ROM which seems to have its own "peculiarities" like being unable to get official OTA since it is not exactly "official". Why my ace3 can't open gamespace😢 pls help
have you checked if you have allowed the necessary permissions? it's one of the items on the long list of things they ask you to turn on on first boot, and if you unchecked it and denied the permission, gamespace won't work IIRC. i think that settings is inside settings somewhere. I don't have the phone anymore so can't verify, but it might be under "additional services" or "additional settings".

just have to make sure that the device has been region unlocked. if not, it might not work properly after a while (calling functions will be blocked). if it's too much of a hassle, probably easier to just get the 12R instead since it's sold officially there. cause as far as i know, it's still not possible to do a proper conversion from colorOS to oxygenOS without complications and hassle.

there is no official IP rating as far as I know.
This phone can wireless charging ?
it doesn't support wireless charging. only the 1iii or the newer 5iv supports that.
Hi, i am based in SG and is looking to get this phone in Chinese ROM. i would like to know if there is any differences between global ROM that I should be aware of? Thanks!!!
hi, the main thing to note is probably that some google features won't work. UFS 4.0 vs 3.1, and Ace3 has the Pixelworks X7 Visual Processor (some gaming features uses this for frame interpolation, etc).
will u review the iQOO Neo9S Pro+ too? and is the camera on these 2 phones better than on oneplus's nord 4?
probably won't be, since I've already tried a few SD8Gen3 phones and other than that, bigger battery, and the fingerprint sensor, they're probably very similar.
@@axhngThat makes sense. The nord 4's ultrawide is pretty bad yeah, both the front and the ultrawide seem the same to Ace3 by specs alone. Right now neo9s pro+ is winning me over with the feature rich specs and a slightly better camera. But I'm not sure how much the chinese OS will hold me back even with the english language, since people said there will still be some chinese in some apps. Thanks for your insight

Now i am interested to get K70. Anybody has experience buying direct from taobao. Any shipping issues to sg? Possible to ship by air or must by sea?
I've not tried getting a phone from taobao yet, but the process should be straightforward. I've seen some sellers offer the option for direct air shipping too. the price for direct air shipping usually includes GST, service charge and all that too. Though unless there is a particularly good promo, perhaps the new K70 Ultra could be an option too. I saw earlier on taobao from the official store "小米官方旗舰店“ that k70 ultra is around 540SGD, whereas if it's K70 during non promo period i only slightly cheaper...

@@axhngso OnePlus 12r supports esim but not in Singapore ? However it supports other regions?
which one would you choose? k70 pro or iqoo 12?
between the 2.. probably the iQOO 12 but only if it's CN ROM. if it's global ROM iQOO 12 vs k70 Pro, I will probably lean more towards K70 Pro since software experience is quite important to me and FunTouchOS is just.... not that great imo... iQOO 12 is a bit more expensive, but the camera performance is noticeably better to me and i think worth the extra if you care about camera quality. Plus smaller things like haptics, and speakers are better too. But personally at this point, i might not consider the K70 Pro anymore even if i don't care about camera quality, since there is the new Neo9S Pro+ which also has a SD8Gen3 processor, but has bigger battery as well as ultrasonic fingerprint sensor.😅or even the older Neo9 Pro or Neo9S Pro are both still good options if you're okay with mediatek's chipset.
@@axhng oh I didn't know there's a new neo9s pro variant, i guess I'll have to take a look on that one, and see which of these phone i will buy. thank you for that information.
For the preference I actually prefer flat screen more than curve screen but for the software I never use ColorOS or HyperOS before (been using OneUI for the past 4 years) but based on review that I watched I think I prefer ColorOS more than HyperOS, so which phone do you think better/good for me ?
the difference isn't huge and specs wise the Ace3 looks better. bigger battery, better screen, better fingerprint sensor, and OnePlus tends to have slightly better gaming performance where as Xiaomi usually is a little more conservative.
@@axhng thank you for the very fast reply, I really appreciated you take some time to write a very detailed review/option, I guess I will wait for a bit and see what the Nord 4 can offer and for the spec I think there's will be not much different from Ace 3V other than the design only
@@pudinichigo91 no problem! hopefully there'll be a bit more than that since for Nord 3 i think they upgraded the camera over the ace2v as well. since from photos the nord4 camera placement is different, it might mean they changed some other things too internally. performance wise 7+Gen3 is not too far behind 8Gen2 anyway unless you're planning to play very demanding games on it.
@@axhng yeah, I hope they will give better sensor for Nord 4 even just for main camera only, btw 1 last question, which one do you like/prefer for the software/UI between ColorOS vs HyperOS? I want to hear your experience or opinion why you like that software/UI compared to others

i have no idea. i went to see the listing on giztop and it says, "This phone is a Chinese edition, pre-installed global ColorOS with full Google Mobile Service and Google Play store, OTA updating supported." which doesn't make much sense since there is no "global ColorOS" for OnePlus phones, just OxygenOS. what's is good about this two phone? neo 9 with sd 8gen2 or Neo9s pro with dimensity 9300+ in the long run of usage?
for neo9 it's probably just the price. for long run usage, the 9300+ will definitely last longer. apps and games will only keep getting more and more demanding over time and the more powerful phone will be more usable longer. 👍the Neo9S Pro+ should be launching soon as well with SD8 Gen 3 based on leaks, so if you want something with snapdragon chip, that could be an option too!
