Nobody seems to recall that. Also, given the last Generations ignore what happened in that game (the easter egg there of Ray and Mighty said they are both missing since 1993, the year of the SegaSonic arcade game where they were playable), I may say people in general forgot them. Also, none of those games are Sonic Team games.

I love how the newer characters are “unfinished.”

Even to this day, I still burst with nostalgia knowing that this game even exists. It's one of the best, if not, the *Best* Sonic Game out there. *Disclaimer*: I forgot to say that I’ve played this game AFTER I’ve played the original trilogy, yes I’ve even went through most of the lore of the comics and whatnot. And, yes. Sonic Advance exists. But I’d argue that Sonic Advance 2 is the better of the Advance trilogy. Not saying this is the best game, but it’s definitely up there.

The little jingle at the end of the song always makes me tear up, this game is truly a masterpiece and I adore it very much

No one of consequence well yes before chaotix there was sonic crackers which had sonic and tails and not only that he has the same sprites he had in crackers but tails was recycled to a hidden glitched character

No one of consequence I don't know for sure but I think Mighty was actually in the running very early on as the mascot for the series and came up short, which might've been a good call as 'Mighty the Armadillo' doesn't look as good on paper as 'Sonic the Hedgehog', but this is coming from a massive Sonic fan from day one so who knows? Beyond that Mighty and Ray starred alongside Sonic in the arcade cabinet SegaSonic the Hedgehog (at least I think that's what it was called) and Ray as a character was shelved after that. Mighty got another role in Knuckles Chaotix for Sega's doomed Genesis peripheral the 32X and afterward suffered the same fate as Ray.

Honestly, I don't think that is what it will play like. I'm pretty convinced it will play more like the glider from the Game gear version of Sonic 2, where you nudge up and down on the d-pad to gain air, and there's a momentum element to it.

Van Hung Tran it's looking like the "physics" are different enough from the Mario cape. At the spot you referenced when Ray pulled back he didn't catch wind and bounce up like Mario's cape does

@The yellow Egg Yeah but it does feel missed potential that Mushroom Hill and Ice Cap were not reused when those 2 levels arguably had the best atmosphere of the Classic Sonic games. And yeah Ice Cap has the copyright problem with the Jetsons but Mushroom Hill doesn’t have any copyright issue that I’m aware of

Seriously? can a development team even do that? I'd honestly never heard of a dev team just like....hiring some other dev team to make a game. I thought they'd been shouting out the game because of pressure from Sega or something.

Salty Stick Unfortunately the continuity is so messed up Sega/Sonic team are stuck hence the retcons, here some statements from the creator himself; Why couldn't Tails and Knux go super in heroes?, because in the modern era only male hedgehogs can go super. Why is classic Sonic from another dimension?: because in the classic era the future is good however Sliver is proof it isn't so instead we split the timeline in two; the classic era (starting from Sonic 1991, good future) and the modern era (starting from Sonic adventure, the future in jeopardy) also Sonic boom is a different dimension as well as the one with humans. What happened to the moon?, it was repaired off screen by Sonic and co just after Adventure 2 but before Shadow the hedgehog. Will Mighty and Ray appear in the modern games? (outside easter eggs); No, we consider them classic era character's however they may become mainstays in the classic era if that's what the fans want. Take these statements with a pinch of salt tho you never know where the next retcon might come... :P (next retcon Shadow is actually a demi-god and Blaze is from the future not another dimension... oh wait they already did that didn't they?)

The reason Mania is so successful is because the people working on it are concerned with making a good game, whereas Sonic Team and Sega, with Forces, are more concerned with making a good brand. It's a difference in focus. And it may not seem like much, but it is making all the difference here. Another way to describe it would be to say Mania is just trying to be itself, while Forces is trying to be the center of attention.

Dragonpit problem with forces is that Sega tried to please everyone, and ended up pleasing no one. 1) People complained about the boost, so Sega made sonic slower and went back to the wisp instead of coins to make it so sonic couldn't go as fast as he did I'm generations and unleashed. 2) but a good amount of fans still love the boost mechanic, so they still kept the boost in. 3) people liked classic sonic and mania, so forces forced classic into the plot, which backfired. 4) Fans wanted more playable characters, so sega gave them the option to create a character which backfired. Sega tried too hard to please everyone and it backfired. Main easy is that modern sonic doesn't have an identity unlike classic sonic, cause each new modern sonic game the gameplay is vastly different from the other

Knuckles and Mighty are instantly bros again, Tails and Ray look like they're going to get along just fine, and Sonic is ready to show Eggman the real super power of teamwork. I have never been this excited about a crowded elevator.

2 years later I still smile after seeing this :)
