I love Sonax BSD! It's one of the cheapest retail spray sealant/detail sprays here in the UK. The water beading and durability is truly fantastic! I recently mixed it 50/50 with AngelWax QED to make one hell of good detail spray for those who like to amplify the gloss and slip characteristics of the BSD. Great video as always Scott. Take care.

i have bought Sonax BSD a few weeks ago and i love it, i found the best way to use it is put the liquid in a seperate spraybottle that can mist it out finer, the way i use it is i wash my car, rinse it off and use the BSD as a lubrication to dry my car with a soft microfiber dryingtowel, its also a very good product to spray into your doorjambs and all of the water runoff areas and even the painted metalparts in the enginebay

This stuff does have amazing water behavior. I applied Sonax Polymer net shield this weekend and it isn’t an enjoyable product to apply, but repels water and dust amazingly. I think brilliant shine detailer is a little more user friendly and provides similar results. Interestingly, Polymer net shield does have a bit of silicone in it but sure doesn’t feel like it.

Here at poland we have tenzi carnauba spray, more like spray wax. Kicks ass in looks and feels department totally but requires carefull application. Did 1,5 months and 4000 on my car. 10 minutes application if you know what you do.

How do you like Beadmaker? I take most professional reviews with a grain of salt as they have their own motivations. Brian from Apex Detail and Scott are the exceptions. Apex has a good overview of the product. But I agree, I would like to see Scott's take on it. I've never really caught the Beadmaker bug, sure it gets slick and has nice beading, but nothing outrageous or deserving of the "game changing" claims. A base application can be finnicky and picky and is not very direct sun or humidity friendly. Durability has continued to be mediocre in my environment, especially if you dry with forced air and don't use it as a towel drying aid every wash. For me personally, S&S is a better option all the way around.. 👍👌✌

Great video, you could have mentioned the 5l BSD size is $66 directly from Sonax's US site, and sometimes they run 15% sales. Which makes it a good bit cheaper than buying the small bottle. It's still more than Meg's, but closer in price at least. And any non US product is nice as the rest of the worlds "gallon" size will give you 5l instead of the 4 we get here. Everything I've used from Sonax has been great. And I'll always love Meguiars for the solid product line and pricing.

Bought some, used it today, its a copy, to me, of Armorall Shield - thick, and you work slow. I still need something as a drying aid that quicker to use so hunt continues and I may mess aroud with dillution ratios because then its cheaper than demon shine! But, neat this ones good for winter for sure when its colder and i want to put a decent wax down. So far Demon Shine is my go to for drying aid as it needs no care, just spray and wipe as you dry. Also a dialy needs something to fill the scratches so Super Resin Polish will be a regular throughout summer and this in winter with a yearly claybar

I too am on the SRP camp. I then follow up with Fusso Coat and use sonax BSD as a drying aid diluted 60/40 with Megs Last Touch. But technically you can also dilute it with water only, same ratio. I bought a gallon of last touch last year and it will probably last me another year or two! BSD is a great dying aid when diluted. Watch Brian's video on it (Apex Detail).

This stuff appears to be similar in consistency and behavior to the drying aid sold by Ammo called "Hydrate". With that product, you are supposed to apply it while the panel is still wet apparently but I tend to like it on the panel when it's almost dry and it behaves almost exactly as you say this stuff does. The Ammo stuff is very expensive (around $25 for a 16oz bottle). In testing products with friends, we found of all things the "Jay Leno's Garage" product called "Evaporate" is almost identical to the Ammo product but can be had for around $10-14 a bottle. If you're interested in testing "new" products, the "JLG" line of stuff is actually pretty nice. Not that the detailing world needs any more products, lol.

Hello Scott, I really enjoy your videos. You highlight a lot of products saying that they're the best that you I have ever used. But then I go to another video and you have highlighted another product in the same category that you said was the best. Now I understand that you like most intelligent people try to constantly learn new things, so your trying other products and find something better than what you were using to begin with. So what you may have thought was the best product 4 months ago, is no longer the best product and your highlighting a new one to replace it. My question is, can you do an end of the year best product review, in other words tell everybody what you feel is the best product on the market to-date for any given part of detailing both at a retail level and a professional level. That way your viewers like myself can go out and purchase the best product or at least what you think the best product on the market is to date. I'm sure not only myself but otnet viewers would appreciate it. Thank you

Scott, have you ever used "Stoner Spead Bead Quick Detailer" before? I recently picked up some up on a BOGO deal and was really impressed by its performance. Also, would you consider Sonax BSD to be more of a sealant due to the longevity?

yes sonax is a sealant but so is meguiars x wax..we know this to be true because both products are synthetic in nature..wax just means= anything that treats, fills or covers a surface and thats why meguiars calls it a wax...the word wax tricks us sometimes because we assume it means something like carnauba or bees wax in nature..but paint sealants are waxes by simple definition..we just need to know if its natural or synthetic..if its all synthetic we would call that a sealant:)

hey scott, ive got the fusso coat on my new VW in grey metallic and its not what i expected. so i will remove it, for removal i will try KochChemie Green Star, Chemical Guys Clean Slate, Petzolds Polycracker and an IPA. If i can remove it i will reapply wax, the collinite 476s. to increase the lifetime of the 476s i want to top it with the Sonax detailer. Do you think this is a good idea ? i really like the lifetime of the fusso, but i dont like the oily haze it has, so i want to try the 476s.

Interesting comment about FC. I have it on my silver car and I think it's awesome. Could it be that the sealant reacted to something that was left on the paint? I did a careful paint prep (clay followed by Collinite 840 Prewax Cleaner) and polishing with Autoglym SRP followed by a wipe down with Carpro Eraser, before applying the Fusso Coat. I did this for as a winter preparation 2 months ago and it's still looking great. I apply Sonax BSD once every 6 weeks or so. My summer wax is Collinite 845 which I prefer over the 476.

Have you actually compared water beading and durability head to head? In my head-to-head testing of 32 different waxes/sealants, I found Meguairs Xpress Spray wax to be among the most hydrophobic of anything I tried and actually outlasted many liquid and paste waxes in terms of water beading, still beading tight and quickly after 2 months (8 washes) when most had given up. I also wasn't able to perceive shine/gloss differences on my light colored paint. I would like to give brilliant shine a try, but in my use, Xpress wax is no slouch in terms of durability.

Economical = cheap = silicone = not on my car thanks! IMHO it's horrible stuff. BSD works even better if you don't spray it onto the panel but instead spray it onto a damp microfibre, it pretty much eliminates the grabbiness without reducing the effectiveness and no overspray! It also makes a good rinseless wash when diluted 3:1 with water and a great drying aid. Excellent video Scott 👍

Sonax lasts for weeks, synthetic spray wax lasts a few days. Sonax is a better value because you would apply Synthetic wax 4 times to once with Sonax.

When I use Sonax BSD first I tap it in an another bottle. The fine mist bottle you did a review on is perfect for a more even distribution. And if you still have problem to apply it I spray 2 mist in the mf towel first time then 1 mist for every panel spread it out. Have another mf towel with short nap think polish remover mf to buff of. As you say no pressure when spreading and buffing. For some reason it works awesome on white cars. My go to QD is Angelwax QED not as extreme water behavior as BSD but more gloss and wetlook in it. Not the same longevity and water beading but it is not far from Sonax. I think Angelwax is starting to sell in the US now and do you have the uppertunity to test it out do so. They got the whole range of detailing products and most of the products is top notch. The quality is very high and some of the products are pricey but a little goes a long way. I don't know how they work in direct sunlight though which kind of is a must for you. Like your channel and learning alot from you! Thanks for sharing your experience.
