Solo Winter Camping in a SNOW STORM (No Talking)
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Solo Winter Camping in a SNOW STORM (No Talking). I spent a night solo winter camping in my 4runner during a snow storm. The temperature got down to 7F (or -13C) degrees windchill and the snow just kept falling. In preparation for fall and winter camping I wanted to give you guys a look at what my winter camping will be like this fall and winter. I will still upload vlogs with talking but I may possibly also upload no talking versions as well since people have requested that. I lost the original files so I couldn't remove the music but I tried to make it as calming as possible. In the future the non talking ones, (If people like this) will have no music or talking in them.

The Heater: amzn.to/3onz2EA

So I’ve taken some precautions to cover the LCD screen but yeah from what I hear I’ve gotten lucky that it doesn’t get soaked. So far I’ve used it in plenty of storms with no major issues. I might be changing my set up soon but like I said it’s worked for me so far. That being said I used a salad bowl cover that’s like kinda like cling wrap and put it over the screen. That and I’m going to test a mixture of diesel and kerosene to make it less likely to gel.
Subscribed....Love your Four Runner and tent set up. Nifty idea with the blow tube fire stoker. I have a slightly lifted 08 FJ with a 23 Zero Kabari on top. Recently purchased a Runaway Camper Off Road Venturist trailer. I may put the Kabari on my 09 Rav 4 which has the V6 and a few off road mods including a set of 235 75 17 BFG Ko2's. Currently using a Big Buddy heater or my Kovea Cupid heater but both produce condensation. I not prepared to spend a ton of $$$ on a hi end diesel heater but would be willing to try and buy one such as you have. I like the idea of it being nearly a complete yet mobile non permanent mount system. I think it would work well and look sweet hanging over my Venturist tires like you have on your Runner! BTW......Nice job on your Silent Movie attempt. I thought I was camped right there along side of you.

We’re actually looking at a rav 4 right now. My GFs Subaru doesn’t tow as much as we’d like. We’re also preparing for the fact that if the new Tacoma comes out next year I’ll be buying it and we want an SUV that can tow a little. And yeah the Chinese diesel heater is great to go with if you just want to try them out and then get something expensive in the future if you want. They aren’t necessarily 100% water proof which does worry me a tad sometimes but I’ve taken steps to make them as water resistant as possible and I’ve had no issues so far.

Long time subscriber but I usually don't comment! I just got a diesel heater for my 4Runner RTT set up (sound familiar?), and have been trying to find information about how they handle the snow/rain. So they claim that it’s “water resistant” and so far I’ve been fine, but now my ikamper completely covers the heater in the snow because it goes off over the tire. I make sure to cover electronics with these little like bowl covers, they kinda look like little plastic hair nets. I can’t promise it’ll be fine but I’ve got 10-12 trips with it in snow.

I thought those diesel heaters were not waterproof? I love the setup on the tire but wanted to know why it’s in the snow getting wet?
@OXFOOT
Жыл бұрын
So yes and no. They are somewhat water resistant but realistically the screen needs to be covered. I use this a crunchy seran wrap thing. It looks like a hair net but it’s supposed to cover bowls of like salad or just left overs. I’m going to be testing out a different heater that is fully water resistant and I’ll have to see the difference. Also good to note that at this low of temperature I believe kerosene is better. I’ll be testing that out this winter as well.

Thanks! And it’s because there was a decent hill that I parked on so I parked on the rocks on the low side of the hill to make it level with the other side. Makes sleeping in the tent a lot easier when you aren’t sliding to one side of the tent because you’re weight shifts with gravity.

Is the heater water proof??

It’s water resistant, I’ve run it in heavy snow and had no issues but there’s no IP rating that I’ve found so it’s not technically waterproof.

One side of the hill was way higher than the other, so in order to level out the vehicle I needed to make the other side taller. Parking on rocks helped me get as close to level as I could.
