Boy, the color satuation in your video is striking, and the evening light inside the tent was perfect as well. The bright red jacket was also a perfect contrast with mother nature. You must have a great camera! Wild Arkansas is beautiful and this was a very enjoyable episode. Sincere thanks!

Hello Paleo Hiker MD, I spent my life in healthcare, but as a RN; I enjoy your wilderness hikes and of course talking about the rigors and stressors of healthcare as I can truly relate. I'm retired now and enjoy your videos as it gives me fond memories of when I used to hike, hunt, and camp in Alaska. I only get out for day hikes now and my wife and I do some RVing. I love your gear reviews. I do have a question: Why do you pack your light gear on the bottom of your backpack as I always did the opposite to keep my heavier items on the bottom to lower my center of gravity? It made for less often and easier falls with decreased stumbling. You bring back fond memories of days in the woods. Thank you, Starling Black

Merino Wool would make your hike more comfortable.. It wicks moisture away from the body and helps evaporate it.. So you stay dry.. Being sweaty can help cool you on a hot day, but when the temps drop, you will get chilled. Merino Wool is an animal based product.. it has anti-bacterial, anti-microbial benefits.. Your sweat will not stink when wearing Merino Wool and your body temp will be better regulated.

I did the same thing last year with my brand new GPS on a Virginia trip. I thought it fell off my shoulder strap when I stopped for lunch at a shelter. I back tracked a couple of miles to the shelter and looked for a while but couldn't find it. I finally gave up and went to put my pack back on and felt a lump in my hip belt pocket. For some reason, I put it in there instead of clipping it in the usual spot on my shoulder strap. I was glad I found it but sure wish I had checked my pack earlier.

I have a GPS story as well. A few years ago my friend and I stashed our packs while we took a side trail. We came back and clearly the packs had been moved, and my GPS was not clipped to my shoulder strap. I figured it had been stolen. I started researching new ones, and almost pulled the trigger a few times. Around 6 months later I got that backpack out again and noticed something in the hip belt pocket...the darn GPS! I NEVER put it there, but obviously I did! The GPS was back from the dead LOL.

WARNING: Nitpicking ahead... when you get water out of a moving body of water, it helps if you put one layer of cloth (like a shemagh or cravat) over the neck of the bottle and point it downstream. You'll start with cleaner water.
