Kayak Camping - 3 Days in True Wilderness (Arkansas)
Спорт
We had to cut the trip short...water conditions were too brutal to cover the whole distance. The Ouachita Mountains are home to incredible rivers and streams. The region is undeveloped leaving rivers like this one in their ancient form. We spent 3 days paddling and camping! But somehow we only covered 8 miles in 3 days, savage.

So many things impressed me about this trip. The camaraderie, The grit, but most of all the abuse that Aquabound paddle took! When people say they can’t have a composite paddle because they’re too hard on them I’m going to send them a link to this video.

Always means so much to have you watching the videos Dan! Those aquabounds are something else I tell ya. This was straight abuse and it still has tons of life left. Put this video on their kiosk at the stores you sell to haha

I had hoped to get into some Texas Hill Country rivers this summer/early fall but the flow rates are non-existent. Hoping now for good rains this fall plus a few tropical “stir-ups” to up the ante for you Texas boys. I mean, hell, if there’s no water you can’t shoot cool video. I would hate that. Nothing worse than getting in and out of the kayak for 6-7 miles on the river. I floated the last section of Crooked Creek from the Lower Access to the White River a couple years back with my dad and uncle. We definetly made a memory. I will never forget how good the water on the White felt and how good the Breadeax Pizza was that night in Yellville! A few days on the river will really make you appreciate all the comforts we have in our modern world.

This video reminds me of a kayak day trip we did 15 miles of almost the same thing. Brother what a good trip with your buddies. I know the kayaking part was a little tough but you all hung in there and made the trip happen. You had some nice camping area. I know everyone's feet enjoyed being relaxed at the at the campsite. With all the portishing that you had to do I know my feet would have taken a beating from that cuz I still have pains in my feet time to time from when both of my feet was broken in the truck 🚛 accident. I just did a 40 mile kayak camping trip with my family and family friends over the Labor Day Holiday. What was more exciting is that my lil brother transferred back home with his job & he went kayak camping with us on this trip & it was his first time kayaking and kayak camping. He really really enjoyed it and he now wants to buy a kayak so he can join us on kayak camping Adventures. I'm really close with my lil brother and I haven't seen him in 2 years since the pandemic has started. He sad that he left Texas but he's also happy that he moved back home close to family and has a new activity that he loves. I will share your Channel with my lil brother cuz I know he will love your Channel since he likes kayaking now. I am so glad that he likes kayaking cuz I want to take him on so many kayak trips. Thank you for watching! Definitely tough on the kayaks
I so wanted to do that stretch of river this year and you quickly reminded me why I didn't. Rain was not our friend throughout most of the states this year. I'm hoping this Fall and Spring bring more fortunate kayaking times. Nevertheless, it still looks like a great trip albeit a bit of a travel from Houston for such low water... But I get why you went. More likely to find water there than in this state at the moment.

Yes! We got caught up in the beauty and definitely chose a time that wasn’t suited for a successful trip. Next spring we just might have to go back and see it in it’s true form
hell yeah, nice one.

Thank you! The Milky Way was brilliant out there
This is what I’m doing this summer I’m starting at jaw lake spillway and camping/kayaking to where it meets with bluestem, it’s not too secluded of a trip but it’s a decent sized journey for me and will be my first time solo kayak camping. So exited

Haha Matt Damon got covid and couldn’t make it. Such a travesty!
I love kayaking in Arkansas and many of the rivers are only good in April or May.

It was great out there! Hard work though
Thanks for the vid, Gatewood! Bracing for a trip like this in a few weeks (not the scenery, the draggery) --- I guess the dry summer set us up for some shallow fall rivers in TX?

Yeah these trips happen sometimes. We try to avoid it where possible but that’s not always the case. Depends which river! Most are low but east Texas is doing fine. Rio grande is pumping
Enjoyed the video Gatewood. You guys always know how to have fun even in the worst of conditions. When did you pick up the Crescent kayak?

Hey, Anthony! I suppose making the most of a bad situation is all you can really do haha. Evenings were relaxing! I bought the crew earlier this summer for a tandem trip with my wife. The crew can also be solo so figured I'd try it out like that too. Really enjoyed paddling it!
