Richie is the man! I had the enormous privilege of having not only shared the stage with him but also recorded soprano sax on one of his beautiful album "Metal Caribe" Richie also played on my first album "El Angel" along with Paquito D'Rivera and Alex Acuna among others.I recorded a couple of his great compositions on my album as well. His use of pentatonics on "Mambo Tango" song recorded on my album, is amazing!!!. I will be eternally grateful to this great musician friend for having produced me and inviting me to record on his Songosaurus label. A big musical hug for Richie Zellon!

Excellent tutorial, Richie! I've been working on these changes for about two years now - learning and memorizing several choruses and still can't improvise freely over them unless I'm sticking to blues licks. Anyway: your lesson is adding valuable material to my vocabulary and I'm looking forward to Part II. Thanks for all of your efforts - they are much appreciated! Tom

Thanks! Glad to be of help! It took me years to fluently solo over Rhythm Changes when I first made the transition from blues to jazz, so don't feel bad. Hang in there...being able to flow on this one somehow makes it easy to solo on a lot of standards...

Very cool vid. Thanks Richie! Hey, I noticed when you are playing straight pentatonics that you rely heavily on the first and middle fingers and not so much the ring finger. For bends etc. The only other person I've ever seen really do that is Todd Rundgren. I guess geniuses think alike. :)

Thx... I use my middle supported by my index for bends because I don't have enough strength on my ring finger due to an accident I once had....so it's not so much "genius" but instead necessity...😀
