So What Do You Eat After Cancer??

#cleaneating #breastcancerdiet #breastcancersurvivor #cancerdiet #breastcancer
I have a lot of conversations with friends, both who've had cancer and who haven't, about how confusing it is to figure out how to eat healthy. So many opinions out there! Just thought I'd share what I do, because it minimized my side effects during oral chemo treatments, seriously reduced my joint pain, and, I think, has helped my lymphedema immensely.

I had to completely give up dairy. I got more and more sensitive over the past 20 years and now even a little bit makes me sick and have pain in my left side. This past year it got a lot worse.

Is it a lactose thing? Curious if something like lactaid helps? While I was on my oral chemo, dairy bothered me a lot. It was one of the reasons I just couldn't do a keto diet. I discovered it wasn't all dairy, only some, so I'm still navigating that as the med leaves my system, seeing what changes. They tell me that could take several months, so I'm really curious. Some of it gave me digestive issues and made my joints really hurt. Now I've realized some of my worst offenders for joint pain are corn..weirdly, some wheat and fried stuff. The corn makes me sad, because popcorn was always my go to snack!

@@SimplyResilientMe lactade no longer helps. I used to be able to eat hard cheeses but can’t even eat that any more. I believe it is an allergy to a protein in the dairy.

@@SimplyResilientMe also I don’t eat any corn. It is mostly GMO or bioengineered so I just don’t eat it.

@@Jules-pu8zd That would make sense. The hard, aged cheeses are mostly what I can still eat, but i try not to push it. I can eat fermented dairy though, thank goodness.

corn was hard for me....like I said I love popcorn... I grew up on it...popped in a pan, not microwave stuff. And I live in the midwest, so sweetcorn is a summer staple. Most sweetcorn in non-gmo, as is all popcorn, so I think in my case it might be an allergy or a sensitivity. I use corn occasionally, like in a taco soup I make, but I'll use an organic one and I still eat popcorn occasionally, because I love it, but I know I'm going to pay for it...
