Peter Cetera, the long-time lead vocalist and front man for Chicago had his jaw broken and wired shut for an extremely long duration. He therefore learned to sing through what we see as clinched teeth. This has forever been his singing style which makes it look like he has very little mouth movements at all. He's gone on to have a very successful solo career. Keep up the great work you two.

I grew up with this great band from the 70's-80's. They were a rock & roll band with horns & blended elements of classical music, jazz, R&B, & pop music. They had a lot of great songs such as "Make Me Smile", "25 or 6 to 4", "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?", "Beginnings", "Questions 67 & 68", "I'm A Man", "Where Do We Go From Here?", "Free", "Lowdown", "Saturday In The Park", "Make Me Smile", "Colour My World", "Hard To Say I'm Sorry", "You're The Inspiration", "Will You Still Love Me?", "Look Away", "Feelin' Stronger Every Day", "If You Leave Me Now", "Old Days" etc.

Given the amazing sounds that Chicago produces, it stands to reason they would have amazing, eclectic taste in music, and yet, I'm still always a little surprised to see Peter Cetera wearing a Bauhaus 'Bela Lugo's Dead' t-shirt in this video. Love it, and hope to see some Bauhaus on this channel, starting with Sanity Assassin, She's in Parties, Adrenaline, Of Lillies and Remains...

We did a Chicago medley in 7th grade choir that had colour my world in it and I remember how HARD those melodies were. It is a sweet simple song to listen but when you are singing it the notes are very hard to find...and may have been hard to count as well. I remember choir was the first I had heard of the song so I didn't know what it sounded like. It is a very sophisticated piece of music.

Terry Kath and Peter Cetera shared the leads in 1970’s. Terry accidentally shot himself to death in 1978. Peter then became the sole lead. They got into power ballads in the 1980’s. Cetera started a solo career later.

Peter Cetera and Kenny Loggins were the ballad KINGS of the 80s. Amazing love songs that could melt butter. My favourite Peter song is Glory of Love from the Karate Kid 2 soundtrack - and Hard Habit to Break. He also does an incredible ballad with Amy Grant called Next Time I Fall. Daddy's Girl from the movie Three Men and a Baby is the cutest song. When Peter left Chicago and they switched singers - they came out with my all time favourite ballad of all time called Will You Still Love Me. Sending you both huge hugs for diving into more Chicago. (Had to edit - Glory of Love is from Karate Kid 2)

I love Chicago's music and Steve Perry is the best of all time but I have to say that the there's really only one choice for the most prolific balladeers of the 80's and that title goes to Air Supply. Kenny Loggins really didn't do a lot of ballads in the 80's but he was the king of movie theme songs.

@JeannieSchmidt, that is a great song. I hope that you didn't take my post as criticism because I surely didn't mean for it to be. I'd be hard-pressed in picking between that one or Sweet Dreams. I wish that the people that post reaction videos didn't all react to the exact same songs and actually took suggestions from the comments from those of us who remember not just the radio hits but the deeper cuts. So many absolutely great songs weren't even released as radio singles and the younger generations are missing out on them.

Peter Cetera's voice is just awesome! This is from their 14th album, Chicago 17 which is their biggest selling album. Stay the Night, Hard Habit to break, and Along Comes a Woman were the other big hits from this album. From Chicago 16, Hard to Say I'm Sorry/Get Away and Love Me Tomorrow. From Chicago 18, Will You Still Love Me and If She Would've Been Faithful. Some earlier favorites, No Tell Lover, Alive Again, Old Days, (I've Been) Searching So Long, Wishing You Were Here, Call On Me, Just You and Me, Questions 67 & 68, and Saturday In the Park. Peter Cetera left the group between 17 and 18 for a solo career. Has a great duet with Amy Grant, "The Next Time I Fall". Glory of Love was featured on the Karate Kid II soundtrack. Now I need to listen to more, lol.

By the time Chicago 17 came out in 1984, the group had largely (but not completely) traded its trademark horn section for a more synthesized sound. Nevertheless, Chicago 17 became their biggest selling album of all time, thanks in part to You're The Inspiration and Hard Habit To Break. These songs completed Chicago's comeback journey that began with Hard To Say I'm Sorry from 1982. That comeback journey continued until What Kind Of Man Would I Be, which would be their last top ten hit in 1989. I'd recommend checking that out.

So glad you reacted to some 80s Chicago! I love all eras of Chicago, and these David Foster-produced songs were monsters when they came out. Perhaps, the older incarnations sounded more like Chicago with more horns, but you can’t deny the pop-craft in their 80s output.

The older inclinations not only had more horns, but crucially had the amazing guitar of Terry Kath & his soulful voice. I hate to generalize because everyone has their own taste, but in my experience when they transitioned from Kath to Cetera/David Foster they became focused on sweet ballads without the "edge" brought by Kath. The generalization is that the later Chicago was preferred by women, while early Chicago was loved by men. (Raises my hand...lol)

There's really two different Chicago eras. There's the 70's era Chicago with all the horns and jazziness. Then there's the '80's Chicago which was much more about pop ballads. I much much much much much much prefer 70's Chicago. You SERIOUSLY still need to hit Beginnings and Saturday In The Park. You two will flip over those.

Thank you…I’m also one of those die-hard early Chicago fans of the Terry Kath era. You can literally divide Chicago sound into 2 styles. As nice as Peter Cetera’s voice and the subsequent push of the record company to make their music more “mainstream”, helped to completely change the Chicago sound..they became this pop band that didn’t display any of the great qualities of all the musicians in the band… And Peter Cetera is a great bassist, but I really can only take so much of the pop songs he sings…that was not the real Chicago imo.

"Stay the Night" "Along Comes a Woman" "Next Time I Fall" (duet feat. lead singer Peter Cetera with Amy Grant.) "I Can't Let Go" (originally by Earth, Wind & Fire, so either way you've got horns. I actually like Chicago's version a little better, though I looove EW&F.)

This iteration of band had the members in their mid-late 30s for this song/video. Go watch early 70s performance, when they were early 20s, and note Peter Cetera's (the lead singer here, later left to go solo) hair, and of course the late Terry Kath, the original lead guitarist with the deeper soulful voice.

Starting in 1969, Chicago has amassed 37 official releases. Only 25 of those are studio recordings of original songs, or studio covers (such as their three Christmas albums and their big band album), the rest are compilations or live recordings. Still, 25 albums is a lot of music. The original band had seven members: Robert Lamm - keyboards, lead and backing vocals Terry Kath - guitars, lead and backing vocals Peter Cetera - bass, lead and backing vocals Danny Seraphine - drums James Pankow - trombone, backing vocals Lee Loughnane - trumpet, flugelhorn, backing vocals Walter Parazaider - reeds, backing vocals Over the years there have been several changes in the lineup. Now, only three of the original members are still with the band; Lamm, Loughnane, and Pankow. Their sound has moved and morphed over the years as well. I'm partial to the first seven album primarily, though I'm also a great fan of 22 (the big band album), 25 (first Christmas album), 32 (a harkening to their early sound and style), with tunes here and there throughout that I am quite fond of (like Feel from 30). Favorite songs from the early era: everything on 1 (except Free Form Guitar), all of 2, all of 3 -- okay, all of it. All time favorite song, though: from the fifth album, Dialogue, parts 1 & 2. Love you guys! Thanks for all the joy!

The singer Peter Cetera is wearing a Bauhaus t-shirt, a band that is probably the complete antithesis of this song musically and stylistically. Their most well-known song is "Bela Lugosi's Dead" but if I were you I'd start with "Kick in the Eye." After Bauhaus broke up, the singer Peter Murphy released a really good song called "Cut You Up" and the rest of the band formed the group Love and Rockets who had a huge hit in 1989 called "So Alive."

A lot of people who prefer the earlier Chicago sound and downplay the later Chicago of the late 70s and 80s do not appear to realize or appreciate how musically well-written, well-arranged, and beautifully performed these songs are.
