From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted,” “Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey”), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer, Ed Mercer, and Adrianne Palicki (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”) as his ex-wife, Kelly Grayson, who’s assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald as Dr. Claire Finn (“24,” “The Larry Sanders Show”), Scott Grimes as Gordon Malloy (“ER,” “Justified”), Peter Macon as Bortus (“Shameless,” “Bosch”), Halston Sage as Alara Kitan (“Neighbors,” “Goosebumps”), J. Lee as John LaMarr (FAMILY GUY, “The Cleveland Show”), Mark Jackson as Isaac (“That Royal Today”) and Chad L. Coleman as Klyden (“The Walking Dead,” “The Wire”). The Orville has been renewed for a second season.

I can't figure out if there was a message to the first episode. My favorite episodes last season had political or philosophical points to them. So I'm hoping they also do more of that this season.

Do you know how the ships name "The Orville" Came about? Seth Macfarlane: I was reading David McCullough's Wright brothers biography while writing the pilot. Seemed fitting. Orville Wright....The Orville
The first episode of the new season: No grand space adventure, no life and death scenarios... Boring everyday life aboard a spaceship, and it was fun to watch. My only complaint was that Yaphit didn't have a storyline.
With The Orville comedic side, I was waiting for the Golden Shower ceremony with a little wind, not a lot just enough to mist the crews faces

I love this show for its sincere trekkiness and for its right in your meta face jokes. For instance, Alara is my favourite character not only because she is likable, but because she's ACTUALLY, honest to god, superhumanly strong and this makes perfect sense even when she looks insecure and vulnerable. Please, Fox, don't turn this into another Firefly and give The Orville enough time to be a long lasting classic.

Amazing first ep season 2

I just watched the first episode of season 2, loved it.
S2 ep1 was such a great showcase for the characters. S1 did such a good job establishing their personalities and relationships, so it was a lot of fun just watching them work off of each other. Seeing Isaac's relationship with Claire's family continue to grow, Alara's continuing romantic struggles, the growing rift between Ed and Kelly following the S1 finale....it was all so satisfying after such a long hiatus.
My favourite show I am happy :D

Love how the title said this season would Knock Your Socks Off, then the first thing pointed out is the relationships. If they showed a trailer of episode one and two fairly, nobody would tune in.
i couldn't find it yesterday on hulu, even after it was out....

hulu always has a delay. You might be able to see it on fox now live if you sign with your provider

@@f-22raptor25 i did see it on fox, i hate watching it on my tv but i caught it 11 minutes in.... i was spamming to find out what channel it was on. google said 02 channel but it was another.... im glad i found it.... hulu is still great

Episode 1 of season 2 was... lackluster. I mean it wasn't bad, but it just wasn't... good. I have high hopes for the rest of the season though.
