From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted,” “Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey”), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer, Ed Mercer, and Adrianne Palicki (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”) as his ex-wife, Kelly Grayson, who’s assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald as Dr. Claire Finn (“24,” “The Larry Sanders Show”), Scott Grimes as Gordon Malloy (“ER,” “Justified”), Peter Macon as Bortus (“Shameless,” “Bosch”), Halston Sage as Alara Kitan (“Neighbors,” “Goosebumps”), J. Lee as John LaMarr (FAMILY GUY, “The Cleveland Show”), Mark Jackson as Isaac (“That Royal Today”) and Chad L. Coleman as Klyden (“The Walking Dead,” “The Wire”). The Orville has been renewed for a second season.

And: all the others... It is nothing but Sci Fi... ?? When was it EVER a 'parody'? Ask Seth or thecwritersvif igcwas ever a "parody". Not even for a millisecond was it ever a 'parody'. I didn't rebuild the entire Enterprise D in VR so I can sit on the bridge and watch a PARODY on the main viewscreen!

@@NextWorldVR Surely you must have seen the promos for the series before it aired? The series was clearly marketed as a parody of Star Trek, not unlike Galaxy Quest. However, MacFarlane has stated that he pitched the series to FOX as a parody of Trek because he feared that a serious sci-fi series would be rejected. Apparently, the first 5 or so episodes were more comedic to convince network execs that it was going to be a parody, but as the season progressed, MacFarlane shifted the focus to more cerebral, serious sci-fi (which was his intent all along). This shift was widely accepted by audiences, so MacFarlane later stated that season 2 would contain even less comedy and more serious issues (which it did...again to audience acclaim). Ironically, MacFarlane had pitched a new Trek series to networks a few years earlier, which were all rejected -- probably because CBS was already in the works for Discovery...which even more ironically, turned out to be the least-accepted installment of the Trek franchise.

Loved when he said that calling her out. Isaac was confirming something about women like her wanting children but don't know how to handle them because there's no father a role model to put them in check. All children needed both parents and if only ones will be than a role model like an uncle, aunt, grandfather or grandmother is needed to help, guide and teach them good manners and be civil. The boys needed male role models and Isaac though a male robot was the closest thing for them.

Part of me was a little sad in seeing Brian Thompson's character killed. I don't think he was a "evil" as Finn may have thought him to be. My takeaway was that he was just in holding her "captive" in that out there, she'd die. No if's and's or but's about it. He was ensuring her continued survival. As soon as she was convinced, she'd be free to traverse and survive alongside him. Needless to say, a knockout would have been preferred for me.

At the end they mention something about trying to get approval to send a medical team to the planet to help the people. If they will let them and not just attack them. The episode itself was OK but the kids were awful! I couldn't stand either one of them. The youngest was the worst of the two though. He is a huge baby and the whole situation was his fault since he was the one who threw the game which hit the controls and caused the ship to crash. Yet in the end nothing is done and he learned nothing from his crybaby bratty actions. I was hoping at some point Issac would tell him that he was the cause of the situation they were in.

The episode was ok but the kids were horrible. Especially the youngest, he was such a whiny crybaby. Not to mention it was his fault they ended up in that situation because the bratty little punk threw the gameboy device into the controls which crashed the ship. Yet he is never scolded about it and in the end learns nothing from his bratty actions.
