    You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice kzread.infoUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

    I wish a woodworker would do a comparison between an American cabinet saw and a European sliding saw. Actually building a bunch of projects using both saws so we can see the negatives and positives and which saw is more user-friendly.

    Hey Andrea. I have just bought a second hand felder saw with no outrigger. I have bought the alu extension table to use instead of the outrigger (due to space and cost) but wondered how useful you find the extension table. How much weight can it support? Do you crosscut long rips of plywood using your extension table? Thanks hector

  • @AndreaArzensek

    @AndreaArzensek

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hi Hector, I have the same setup because of the limited space. I do crosscut long rips and the table seem to support a good amount of weight, I don't see a problem with it. The only drawback could be the smaller surface of extension table, this not giving enough support to big sheets. Cheers

    I have the Felder Format4 shaper with the sliding table. If you get a chance and can find some work time on a T60C Martin saw do try it and you will see the difference. V Rolfe Chicago Felder is now making a 140 cut with the newer model 700 with 400MM blade. Very compact saw like the regular 700.

    Format 4 is like Ferrari of the machines, that includes the Martin machinery. You can't even compare these, but I'd love to own a Martin saw, jointer and thicknesser. Maybe in another life 😂😂😂

    @@AndreaArzensek I have one Format4 machine and it is advanced compared to the regular Felder series; BUT; Felder premium is not in the same league as the Martin machines due to use of metals, switching, options, machining, machine layout, beef where needed, fine tuning of the settings, etc. Just a different approach by the Austrian engineers compared to Martin lineup. Then, talking about SCM Italy; well they have yet a different approach and so does Altendorf-OMG just short of the mark in lots of areas and functions. For Felder, it is difficult to offer different levels of quality and function and then turn around and be the top in a class that is very competitive. As companies evolve it is difficult to have the same engineers leading the way over a 20-30 years period so cost vs. performance and quality materials tends to drift: this is only normal for all the fields of machine manufacturing. Just look at the American woodworking machines 60 years ago and how things have changed. I bought the Martin machines with a bit of ignorance after visiting the show in Atlanta and seeing Martin and Felder. There were several options on the Martin saw at that time that Felder did not offer for another 3 years. Just luck that I spent the extra cash and got Martin. Took some years of use to really appreciate what Martin does.

    hello great video thank you very much for your time, I wish I could have the help of the cabinetmaker community, I am undecided between a SCM si nova 400 and the Felder k 700S for my new workshop. I have the experience of having worked with the SCM si nova 400 for 2.5 years and with the format4 for 1.5 years, but I have never seen a k 700S. Thanks to everything and prosperity.

    It is an absolute beast, after some minor modifications to make it fit our needs, we absolutely love it. Compared with K3, on our K700 only the 3Kw motor is the same but everything else is another league. Just the X-Roll is worth the upgrade.

    Hello Andreas! I am a bit confused about the adjustment of the sliding table. I have a Felder combination machine and my sliding table are adjusted level with the rest of the saws table.

  • @AndreaArzensek

    @AndreaArzensek

    2 жыл бұрын

    The sliding table should be adjusted so it is a hair higher than cast iron table. I don't know if that is different on a combination machine. The idea is that it eliminates friction with the cast iron while crosscutting or ripping when using the sliding table. That said, if You want it flush to the cast iron and you like it that way then don't change it. Always use what works best for you, not what others say, unless it improves on your method. Best regards from Croatia 😊

    @@AndreaArzensek Thank´s for your comment. I have checked my saw and the Sliding table is 0,05mm above the main table, maybe a little more but not as much as 0,10. In your wide at 7-7.07 minutes it looks like the sliding table are a couple of mm above. That was what made me react.

    We got a new saw, Felder K700. There is a video on the channel. We're really impressed with Felder 700 , it is a beast and total overkill, but the quality is unmatched and incomparable with Hammer. We aren't quite happy with Hammer A3-41 jointer performance so we ordered Felder AD7-41. The thicknesser on A3-41 is flawless though.

    Not gonna lie, I feel like the tables should be perfectly coplanar on a $10,000+ USD saw. I would probably be quite unhappy with this as one of my biggest complaints with my current saw is how difficult it was to make the cast iron top coplanar with the stamped metal extension wings.

  • @AndreaArzensek

    @AndreaArzensek

    2 жыл бұрын

    As for stamped metal extensions, they are perfectly aligned with the cast iron. Aluminum Sliding table is a hair higher for a good reason of eliminating the friction with the cast when cutting. This is the biggest pro and con at the same time. I've had both saws and I would always choose the slider if I could have only one.

    @@AndreaArzensek I also would think that the sliding table should be on the same plan. Would making them the same level really add that much drag especially when the material is being pushed by a back fence and the entire table is sliding. It looks like a beautiful saw. Thanks for sharing 👍

    As someone who has a lot of experience with Felder company's tuning saws, I can assure you that that problem is very easy to eradicate - the saw is designed so that you have access to tune every screw. Generally, at the factory they set the table slider 0.25mm higher than the cast iron (so that, it doesn't scratch the laminated surface). Just lower the slider with the screws and you have a flat surface
