Full live stream of the Slater Log Clean & Press at the 2020 Arnold Pro Strongman USA Qualifier in Santa Monica. The athletes must clean and press each rep (380 pounds / 172.5 kg) with a time limit of 60 seconds.
The Arnold Pro Strongman USA Qualifier is part of the Arnold Pro Strongman World Series and features many of the biggest names in international competition, including Brian Shaw, Jerry Pritchett, Jean-Francois Caron, Rob Kearney, Matjaz Belsak, and 2019 champion and reigning World’s Strongest Man, Martins Licis. Among the challenges on the docket, this year are the 400 LB Farmer’s Walk, 775 LB Deadlift for Reps (w/ Rogue Power Bar), 380 LB Slater Log Clean & Press, and two events featuring Rogue’s Strongman Sandbags: the Throw Over Bar (ascending weight) and Sandbag Load (3 bags carried 30’ each).
The overall winner of the event will earn a spot at the 2020 Arnold Strongman Classic, held March 6-7, 2020, in Columbus, Ohio.

    Maxime has been in other qualifiers I saw him in Barcelona and was second in a event if not wrong the log for reps or the deadlift I don't remember well but I was amazed because never heard of him before that

    I don’t understand why some people can criticize these men. They’ve dedicated their lives to this sport, training every week with 100%, and some of you point out every shortcoming they have. They’re pouring their hearts into this, so they deserve respect, or in the very least, you to not make fun of them. Other than that, great job guys! Spectacular competition!

    Tackett I think people do that because the majority of these guys cheat by juicing. The mountain has admitted that he juices since they don’t drug test at the Arnold of World Strongest Man Competition.

    Truth. He could be Top 3 in WSM if he can get his deadlift up into the mid-to-high 800s. He lives near my hometown and my friend goes to his gym. He apparently just recently (last year) had a deadlift PR of like 765 or 775. But he is a beast otherwise.

    Is it dangerous to arch the back like that while doing OHP on the log?? I understand it recruits more muscles, like the pecs and stuff to help press the weight. But can it be dangerous for the back?

(Frankly, if you have to have 'encouragement' shouted at you every time you look at a dumbbell, it is time to get out) it's a shame i think Brians great, his cold could well have been the difference between qualifying and not qualifying :(

    The announcer bothered me , he keeps talking about how 10-20 years weight vs today. Yet 10-20 years ago reps were a huge part. The timer was 1:30. Now the timer is 1:00 and everyone now is doing less reps. He also kept saying he thought they would do 10+ on the DL and he thought 4-5 + on the press but dudes are doing 1-3. That's the issue with WSM atm

    Is that considered a strict press? I'm just wandering because they do build up momentum with their legs, so I wouldn't personally consider it a strict press (or military press). So why don't they do more of a jerk instead? Is that even allowed?

    @@VoltaBMX jerking a log is actually a really difficult technique it works for some but others have more success with a stricter press ...when you jerk it your not as under control and it's really easy to lose balance when the weight is overhead ..totally different to jerking a barbell

I thought Shaw was done, but his performance here has honestly changed my mind. He could have won this against some very tough competition, while clearly being a bit sick.

    Meanwhile, 300-ish lbs Maxime destroyed in the first 3 competitions. His weakness is deadlift though, and only recently had a PR of I think 765 or 775 lbs.

    @@jarenproc6866 He isn't missing anything. Just had an injury and a busy year. To be honest, I thought he was done until I saw this competition. Managed 775lb deadlift for 8 reps, did pretty good, if something dropped his way he could have won this. Also he had a cold or something, you could hear he was a bit sick.

    I think he is pretty capable of getting more wsm, him and thor more than anyone. Problem these days for most of things is social media, he is lifting for youtube, instagram and so. He should make pause with this shit for some time and more focus on strongman and get that wsm, he can devote to other things after that. Otherwise hes waisting time, every year will be worse and worse cuz hes getting older and new younger guys r comming. just my opinion

    @@caelahrens9767 better than Rob yeah without a doubt, Novikov is 23 years old and won 2 Arnold's qualifiers came second in the WSM heat by a bit behind Brian so I think in some years novikov will be ahead everyone else.

    I just need to admit. I finally had time to sit down and watch this shit. So how do I enjoy watching people be at their physical peak? With a liter of Dr Pepper and red vines.
