Men's Rogue Elephant Bar Deadlift - Event 3 | Full Live Stream | 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic

Спорт

Complete coverage of the Elephant Bar Deadlift, Event 3 from the 2023 Arnold Strongman Classic in Columbus, Ohio (March 4, 2023). With this challenge, each athlete has 3 attempts to establish a max weight (inside a 60 second time cap). The Elephant Bar challenge also doubles as a Rogue Record Breakers event.
Coming off a great showing in yesterday's Austrian Oak, the foursome of Trey Mitchell, Bobby Thompson, Mitchell Hooper, and Rob Kearney once again set the tone to start Day Two, as all four look capable of flirting with the 1,000 LB barrier. Whoever manages to outpull the others could have the upper hand in the overall competition with two events to go.

To put things in perspective, Thor smoked 1046 pounds as if it was nothing, and then proceeded to lift 1105 pounds half way. The current lineup can not go beyond 1000 pounds, let alone 990 pounds. Keep in mind that Brian Shaw did not manage 1049 pounds. This shows just how much of a monster Thor was at his peak.

@@SvenTheShoeBuyer It takes around a year for a lat to come back fully. Nick Best tore his lat in a PL meet, came back to the same event the year after and competed again. Also, the max deadlift isn't his strong suit, so it's another mental block with that. I wish he would just ramp up his recovery and deadlift training and just screw trying to stay around 150 kg. He needs to get used to about 160 kg. He won't peak his deadlift unless his BW and training are honed in. I don't think he has the smartest programming around him.

My math on these bar weights doesn't add up and it bothers me. 881 pound total (Rob Kearney's first attempt) - 65 pound bar - 720 for 8 plates on each side - 35 pounds from a big white (10), small blue (5), and small green (2.5) on each side = 61 pounds worth of clips? Does this bar really have 30.5 pounds worth of locking mechanisms on each side, or is there another plate I can't see? Edit: Luke Stoltman's 886 had 9 plates for 810 which would indicate 5.5 pounds of clips on each side, so there must be 25 pounds per side hiding somewhere I can't see on the 881 pound lift.

How is it guys like pavlo keep making this mistake. Same with Luke on the squat last year. Get at least one number in the bank FFS. How many times does it need to be proven that consistent placing is key for overall success, not all or nothing placements.

Wait, the problem with Luke was that he opened too light and wanted to have a big jump, meanwhile Pavlo just opened too high.

@@edwardchester1 Your line, that get at least one number in the bank is directly opposed by Luke going for a too light opener, which, while got him a result, it was not indicative of his abilities. But yeah, in general, bad tactics.

Yes it is, why wouldn't it be? It's called hitching, it's allowed in strongman. The 'dead' part of deadlift just refers to the weight being static so idk what that breakdown of the name is supposed to be saying

The deadlift just refers to picking up a dead weight off the floor with no momentum. Doesn't matter how it gets from A to B in Strongman. This isn't powerlifting. Just like push pressing, split jerk, clean and press etc. are allowed in the log lift. No one complains about lapping an Atlas Stone instead of one motioning it.

And haftor is absolutely a stronger deadlifter than Brian no idea what you're talking about. You're trying to compare a hummer tyre deadlift to a regular 9 inch deadlift dude.
