    @@milena-hs5kq The idea of using real world objects to measure is to give a human reference to a massive object. People have a hard time imagining big numbers, but if you've been on a football field, you can imagine with two of those would look like pretty quick. Weight should only be measured in Toyota Corollas though, spaceships is not very standard

    @Neal Alack I was stationed right next door at Naval Station Ingleside from 1997-1999. I loved watching all the activity going on. I worked offshore for a short period of time in 2008-2009. I loved the time I worked out there.

    The idea here is that less smoke is directly emitted into the atmosphere. It plays as eco friendly but in reality its probably to avoid giving the workers lung problems by living near diesel generators for weeks.

    This is the next oil platform my son helped get built and commissioned in the Gulf of Mexico, after it being built and commissioned, he is assigned from his office in New Orleans, La. he is also still the go to person for the day to day running and trouble shooting of any run plant issues that the operators in the control room on the oil platform. The current platforms that he is responsible for are the Horizon, The Appomattox and the last rig built the Lee (?) , that he helps any of those 3 rigs that they can't or having issues with certain control room problems. and he loves his job.

    @@ILovePancakes24 I was talking about Oil Rigs not the oil itself. There might be only handful of oil rigs that have been made in the past 20 years. The cost of maintaining it, transporting people to and forth every 2-3 weeks, transporting supplies for operating the rig and transporting the oil itself back to the shore is not that feasible compared to just drilling on the land.

    All oil rigs eventually run dry. It's normal since they're extracting a finite resource. They're not designed to go on forever. Once it's no longer profitable, they move on and find fresh oil.

    Skyshark88 the platform uses jet engines fueled by fuel made on site from the crude oil. The jet engines turn turbines which make power, then the heat from the jets is captured and make steam which turns another turbine that also makes power. It’s amazing, and completely self sufficient!
