1 - focus on your main skin problem 2 - wash face at night, apply sunscreen in day 3 - main issues= acne, pih, oily/ dry skin, environment shift ( understand the environment u living in) 4- cleanser = double cleansing with oil based cleanser / Micellar water then wash off with regular cleanser. If having active acne then wash off with cleanser having actives like benzoyl peroxide (panoxyl) Or a sulphur cleanser 2 - exfoliation = 7% glycolic acid by the ordinary 3 - mist = for people with dry skin but acne prone. Glycerin + rose water mixture. 4- serums = problem focused like niacinamide5% + zinc 5- retinols = type + percentage matters , consistency over intensity. No irritation is the key 6 - eye cream = moisturize with regular one and apply thin layer of Vaseline 7 - moisturizer according to your climate and skintype = byoma gel moisturizer 8 - sunscreen To simplify it more cleanse, treat and protect 1-cleanser = oil based cleanser/micellar water, regular water based cleanser 2- treat = aha, bha, azelaic acid, retinoids ( for acne and pih ) 3 - protect = moisturizers and sunscreen

UV rays will still penetrate through windows like it was already said, so yes wear it indoors. But also understand that the less time you spend in the sun, the less you need to reapply sunscreen because the barrier that the sunscreen created between the sun and you is not breaking down as fast.

@@victoriaalliaud7538 sorry for a lengthy text. My current actives are: - adapalene, tretinoin every night for acne (I started with Differin's adapalene, moved to Altreno, which Dr. Idriss mentioned in her videos. Altreno's super gentle compared to other tretinoin products. I also tried retinaldehyde (Medik8 Crystal Retinal 10). In my experience, if your concern is acne (mine started when I was 25, so hormones are involved), go for medical forms of retinoids like adapalane, as this did nothing for my acne (and was expensive), so I used it under my eyes for fine lines - retinal woks great for that); - BHA 2 times per week for blackheads/sebaceous filaments, as retinoids alone could not make mine smaller (I use Paula's Choice 2% Liquid Exfoliant); - vitamin C under sunscreen every morning (This one is optional for me, as the effects were not dramatic. My main concern is PIE after acne that takes around 6 months to fade (and sometimes old PIH, which does not fade on its own). I used Paula's Choice C15 Booster, then Paula's Choice Anti-Aging Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum, and now I use RejudiCare 2CRM Sal with BHA and L-Ascorbic Acid. The last one made an actual difference and lightened PIE on my cheeks. No effects on old PIH, though. Dr. Idriss mentioned that to get rid of pigmentation you need multiple ingredients, vitamin C is not enough, but it boosts the sunscreen. - sunscreen (Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun : Rice + Probiotic SPF50+ PA++++ and Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-cica Water-fit Sun Serum are amazing). Inactives: - gentle cleansers: Bioderma micellar water + La Roche Posay Toleriane Cleanser; - moisturizer (any will do, because I just need hydration): I currently use Ma:nyo Bifida Biome Aqua Barrier Cream and La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume b5+ for dry patches of skin.

Totally 💯 agree, well into my 60’s here also and was a sun lover growing up in the 60’s living at the beach and not wearing sunscreen, 20 something ones have all the knowledge they need now to have lovely skin by the time they get to our age, it’s harder for us to reverse the sun damage without using really great medical grade skincare products that nothing over the counter really works and does what it needs to do…but one thing I’m grateful for is that I can afford the skincare and the sunscreen to Stop my skin from getting any worse…I now get compliments on my skin after putting in the time and money into my skincare without having any in office procedures done. Cheers to Our Generation ❤️❤️❤️🇦🇺

    1. Cleanser - bioderma micellar water - option to use spray then cotton - vanicream - works well but kinda burns the eyes - PanOxyl -Benzoyl peroxide - for active acne and oily skin a few times a week.let it sit for a while. Bleaching - Sulfur cleanser - for extremely oily skin if benzoyl peroxide does not work for u 2. Exfoliate - lighter, 2-3 times a week - The Ordinary - 7% glycolic acid peel - Bubble - AHA/BHA - 10-15 minutes good for sensitive skin because of glucanolactone 3. Mists - for acne prone or with dry skin - Tower 28 - Hypochlorous acid spray. Minimize bacteria, can be apploed on masks or headphones if it causes u breakouts - Glycerin-based and rosewater mist 4. Serum - problem-focused -Glossier - Oily and acne prone skin; Niacinamide and Zinc - Arnica Rolling serum (Pillowtalkderm) - redness and puffiness - Timeless 10% or 20% ascorbic acid - vitamin C 5. Retinol -Glossier - 3 nights a week then if good, 4 times. Very lighy - Elf Skin - stronger, almost as effective as tretinoin but not as irritating. This is good, can also serve as an eyecream 6. Eyecream - no need for something specific - use vaseline if u need to lock in moisture but this is contraindicated for persons with millia under the eyes 7. Moisturizer - tailor to climate - dryer - use hydrating moisturizers - Vitamin C Moisturizer (pillowtalkderm) - lightweight moisturizer - need more if climate is dryer - byoma - lightweight gel moisturizer - like a hybrid moisturizer and serum 8. SUNSCREEN!! - La Roche-Posay - Super Goop(?) - need spf 50 - Lura Mercier - can be used a smakeup base, spf 25 -Super Goop glow screen - can be used as higlight but can feel burning in the eyes

I’m 26 years young and I am a carpenter. I work outside in the blazing sun all summer. I never wore gloves or sunscreen or even a big enough hat to protect my face from the sun, I literally never cared and thought sunscreen was bad for you (hippy step mom). I already have visible fine lines under my eyes along my optical bone. Along with deeper lines on my forehead and in between my eye brows (the wtf face wrinkle). I have minor acne break outs pretty much all the time on all parts of my face. I am so grateful for you!!! I found you a couple months ago and I absolutely love and appreciate your message so much. I am 32 and still have acnee and hyperpigmentation and oily skin. I cannot remember to not have acnee, and of course that no one ever told me to not to touch them and how to take care of them. I started to build a skincare routine in my late 20s,and also then i started to wear sunscreen. A long time i had no acces to information but thankfully now i am taking care of my skin and i wear sunscreen all day every day even if i don't leave the house. In my country i have no dermatologists like you,so all of the info that i learned and learning are from the few people online that i trust, you are one of them. Thank you ❤

Having sensitive acne prone skin is a nightmare. All I can suggest is to be selective about targeting the acne and otherwise use products to calm, hydrate, and support your skin barrier. Maybe use your face wash to target the acne, as it’ll only be a few minutes contact time. The Kate Somerville “Eradikate” one she showed in this video is actually pretty ideal for sensitive acne prone skin, as sulphur is one of the least irritating things you can use for acne and it also contains oat to soothe. Another good one is Versed’s “Keep the Peace” cleanser, as it contains 1.5% salicylic acid, but also contains blue tansy (same active as chamomile) to calm. Both cleansers are creamy and non-drying. As for what to leave on your skin to target acne? Azelaic acid might be your best bet, as it’s also a treatment for rosacea, so pretty much designed to help reduce redness and inflammation, along with doing a pretty good job of fighting bacteria. The hypochlorous acid spray she showed can also be used as a toning mist to reduce bacteria without being too harsh. With everything else, I’d just focus on being gentle and kind to your skin for now. Aloe vera, ceramides, oat, centella, and blue tansy are your friend. And don’t be afraid to use facial oils, as there’s a theory that by applying oil yourself, you’re beating your skin to it and so it tricks it into not producing as much sebum. Some oils to try might be The Ordinary’s sea buckthorn oil (can reduce inflammation) or oat/ceramide facial oils, such as Pacifica’s “Vegan Ceramide Face Oil” or Kinship’s “Oat Ceramide Relief Oil”. You don’t need to use a crazy amount, we’re talking like a drop or two and you can mix it in with your moisturiser (otherwise use as the last step at night). And remember that anything you use, you don’t need to use on your whole face. If your cheeks are dry, you could just oil your cheeks and leave the rest of your face, for example. With any luck, the oil should absorb and not feel greasy. If the irritation calms down after all this, you could consider trying to introduce things like vitamin C and retinoids, but wait for things to calm down first. AHAs may never be your friend and aren’t the best for treating acne anyway, they’re more for helping with acne scars and boosting collagen, but retinoids can help with those anyway, along with treating acne, without the same level of irritation. Try to resist the urge to rush to that point and just focus on calming your skin down for now, though. Maybe in a few months, everything will have calmed down and you can tiptoe in with the other stuff. And don’t feel the need to go overkill on the suggested ingredients either. As long as the ingredient is in one product, it doesn’t need to be in every product you use. Like, probably best not to buy the whole line of a particular range if all the products contain pretty much the same active ingredients. If you use a salicylic acid face wash, you don’t also need a salicylic acid serum, for example. Hope this helps🤞🏻

i have so many skin problems that are equally bad i don’t even know what to prioritize. active acne and clogged pores, bad scars and wrinkles from years of skin picking, PIH and PIE, dryness, really thin skin around my eyes causing terrible dark circles, fine lines over the entire surface of my skin that are rapidly getting deeper, eyelid drooping/sagging, volume loss especially in my lips cheeks and temples, and honest to god jowls. on top of that serious hair thinning and a receding hairline, dry, loose, crepey skin on much of my body, and all-over stretch marks. i’m 21 and live a decently healthy lifestyle, just cursed with terribly unlucky genetics. and in no way can i afford to address all of these problems. it’s unbelievably depressing to look so rough at what should be the peak of my youth. i look easily 30 and i know i will age poorly even with all the best interventions i can afford.

Hi Dr. Idriss! I've been a loyal subscriber for years now. My skin cleared up because of you! However, I moved to Southern California 3 weeks ago from a rainy Oregon climate and I am breaking out horribly! I noticed my skin feeling dry so I added the Aveeno oat serum and have been moisturizing more. I do everything in this video and have great habits. What do I do!? Stick to my routine or change something? I use 0.05% retinol x4-5 week, exfoliate w/ flash mask x1 week, exfoliate w/ Paulas Choice BHA x1 week. Daily vitamin c and spf. No makeup, wash face x1-2 daily. Pimple patches, etc. HELP ):

Firstly, thank you - it's a real pleasure as always to follow you and your videos :) I'm a junior doctor, working as a GP in Scandinavia and I get many questions about general skin care from younger women, primarily with a focus on anti-ageing. Seeing that it's hard to get a dermatology appointment for that kind of stuff, I'm doing the best I can and I'm using your lovely videos as an inspiration ! :) Do you have any advice regarding an easy, budget-friendly 2 step skin rutine with a focus on anti-aging available in Europe? In the perfect world, maybe a moisturizing cream with spf + ascorbic acid and a stronger retionol (possibly with niacinamide) for advanced users (= if you would like to advance from cerave resurfacing retinol) ? Best wish and merry christmas The young Scandinavian doc.

hello doctor shereene, thank you so much for your videos, i know asking for advice in comments probably last thing you want to see and read. but i started having so much acne around two months ago and someone advised me to use a body shop Tea Tree face wash and toner which I recently found out has salicylic acid. everything got better and my acne did reduce. but suddenly out of nowhere i now have an eye line that goes from the corner of my eye to my cheek, the drugstore told me to use Darphin retinol capsules for 60 days and it will go away, but i can't trust anyone anymore. I would really appreciate if you could share your advice. I'm four months into my 21 and female :)

Or just picks up when you stop moving and just laying in bed trying to fall asleep? I have insomnia and was thinking about getting this. Thanks for all your content. It’s always very informative.

Thank you so much for this video! I was looking for a beginner's guide to skincare and this was really helpful. I was wondering how best to incorporate a multivitamin face oil into my routine? Ithas vitamins A, D, E, & F. My current routine is just cleanser and almond oil as moisturiser since I have relatively acne free skin and I'm 23 living in a humid, polluted region.

Dear Shereene, would you be able to recommend some products specific for skin that is exposed to (chlorinated) water, please? I'm 43 years old and in the swimming pool 5 times a week for 90-180 minutes and always on the lookout for regenerating skin/hair and nail products. After my swim I'm using body oil on my body, and retinol serums for the face, along with a caffeine eye serum and a then a peptide moisturiser on top. I switch between brands, depending on what's on offer. If you are aware of any products specifically for swimmers, please share! Thanks a lot! 🏊‍♀️

I'm 21 i did not have much acne on my teen years now i do but my guess probably is because i moved from a dry climate all-year-round to a really humid summer place. Talking about retinoids, my derm prescribed me tretinoin 0.025% last year and i have been back and forth with it cause i had my skin barrier sensitized this year and lots of breakouts on my cheeks so i stopped every thing i was using just keeping the big 3 and i found out my hair cream was the one problem. I wanted to start again the process but i was pelling bad and having breakouts at the same time. Now I'm increasing the frecuency without problem using a buffer cream bellow and having stoped exfoliating completely. I still have breakouts but normal skin in general
