Are we looking at the same product? I replayed it twice and thought Dr. Idriss said the Vit C cost 15.00 which did seem unusually inexpensive for a Dermatologist brand. I think I totally misunderstood though...because on her site it sells for 58.00 per 1.7 oz Jar. A little steep for my wallet. It is comparable in price to some of the others she put forward. I am sure it is awesome though. I truly do enjoy watching Dr. Shereene's videos. She is full of helpful advice. If I lived in NY...I'd probably see her for a procedure of some sort...in the future.

The timing of this is perfect! I bought the l'oreal vit c serum just before xmas bc it was on special offer in Boots. I never loved it bc the salicylic acid is too drying for my skin anyway, but the dropper style bottle that you're always complaining about proved its inefficacy recently as it's totally oxidised now and I don't want to finish it. I'm afraid it will do more harm than good. I was literally thinking this morning, I wonder what vit c I should go for now instead. So thank you for reading my mind! :)

After watching one of your early videos, I have now been using the summer fridays serum for >6 months and really love it. I use it every morning with zero irritation or redness. The max I could use L-ascorbic acid was 2-3x/week. With that came redness, irritation and the inability to use tretinoin more than 2x/wk. Now I use tretinoin nightly, again with zero irritation. GAME CHANGER!! My cosmetic derm was even a bit surprised at the change because she didn’t originally approve of abandoning Skinceuticals. I am just finishing a bottle of summer fridays and going to try the pillowtalk derm when it’s back in stock.

This is one of the most useful vitamin c videos I've ever seen. I've been using Andalou Naturals night creams, moisturizer, sunblock and cleansers in a variety of ways for a few years because they feel good on my skin and my skin is very sensitive. But I could never figure out if any dermatologists actually supported the brand. At least with this video I was able to see that my vitamin c day cream has MAP, Dr. Idris' least favorite and useful! It's good to know. I use a lot of their products that aren't vitamin c and have hyaluronic acid instead but still good to know.

If anyone is looking for a less expensive THD serum, Vanicream has one for sensitive skin for about $20. I just bought it, so I don't know about the results. But, it has a 5% concentration of THD ascorbate and ceramides, and it comes in an opaque tube with a pump. It's definitely missing the bells and whistles that the pillow talk one has, but I'm still excited to try it.

I religiously use SkinCeuticals and for anyone who uses it- I purchased an airless makeup serum pump, and fill it with the product and refrigerate it, which makes a profound difference. If anyone is purchasing this make sure you purchase the darker tinted bottles not clear. When I am finished with the product I clean and sanitize it and then add my next bottle. Going to now try Pillow Talk! Congrats on launching your line.

Such a helpful breakdown! One serum I love with Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (with 3% Vitamin E and 2% Ferulic Acid) is Peter Thomas Roth’s Potent-C Power Serum. It has a high vitamin C percentage at 20%, but I’ve never found it irritating and I have relatively skin. I think it is because of all the moisturizers. It feels nice on the skin-and it’s not sticky like Skinceuticals. It also comes in a pump. Only downside is that it can separate after you’ve had it a while. Not sure if that means it’s losing potency or not.

@@fahomedchowdhury5738 Like better Korean skincare than any other. Have tried a lot of moisture products from Cerave, La Roche Posay, Eucerin, etc, while using tretinoin due to damaged skin barrier. The only ones that repairs and now are my holy gail’s are Korean: Pyunkang Yul essence toner, Pyunkang Yul Ato cream blue label, Illiyoon Ceramide ato concentrate cream, Cosrx advanced snail 92 and Etude Soon Jung 2x barrier intensive cream.

So a few weeks ago I started Vitamin C: Dr. Brenner C Serum, 20% ascorbic acid, and my face began turning from pale/white to reddish/tan, even though I didn't go outside once. Now, like you said in the video, I found out that ascorbic acid is very volatile, and oxidizes fast. As soon as I stopped the serum (which was still clear in color), my skin returned to it's natural color. My guess is that the high concentrates of ascorbic acid oxidized on my face to give me that fake tan look, because my skin wasn't irritated, puffy, peeling or hurting at all. So eventually I'd like to try something different

Dr Idriss, I have been using for several years Isdin Vitamin C Ampoules and love them. I also LOVE the packaging, it's in a glass ampoule, You use it up in 3-4 days. I would love for you to review this product. For clients that can not afford Isdin I sometimes recommend Vichy Vitamin C Ampoules, they don't have the added moisture to them like Isdin but also I would like for you to review. Thanks.

Thank you Dr. Idriss for your knowledge on skincare. I also find that the highest form of vitamin C comes from fruits, since the skin is an organ, it absorbs all the Vitamin C from the fruits like crazy, I do love juicing oranges, papaya and all fruits since they're very high in Vitamin C, my skin literally glows just like how the best serums work. I combine your advice on Vitamin C serums with a high Vitamin C fruit diet and it works so well.

This is PERFECT TIMING for my question! I read that vitamin c "eats" copper, which is why copper peptide products specify not to use vitamin c at the same time. But I've been using snail mucin lately, which according to my research naturally contains copper peptides. So my question is, should I avoid vitamin c when I use snail mucin? I am SO IN MY HEAD about this please help me!!! Thank you Dr. Idriss

Thank you Doc. I have been watching your videos regularly lately. Being in Mauritius, I love SA products like Kalahari (now Franck Global) and Saloncare SA. The climates of SA and my country are nearly the same. Both plant based ranges, they offer great products (serum and mask) with Vitamin C combined with other peptides. If ever you do get access to SA ranges, it would be great if you could share your expertise about these products. Thanks again for your efforts to educate us so much about skincare 🥰

Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom. I’m very late to the skincare routine game (I’m 37🫣) BUT you are helping me to put together a simple and informed routine. Thank you! Question: is there a way to “tame” or handle-with-care skin tags on the face and body? I have some skin tags on the body, but recently noticed a new small one on the eyelid. I’m scared it will grow and make my eyesight worse 😅

I use the brand from Skinceuticals C E Ferulic for over 3 years now and it’s really effective. It really brightens my skin. Indeed it is expensive, it stains on your clothes so you have to be really careful when you apply it especially on your neck and if you are wearing white or light colored shirt. It is hard to remove the stain. I will gonna try the brand from Paula’s Choice. Thank you Dr. Shereene ❤❤
