Always nice to watch your videos, Daniel! I picked up Appassionata Strings on release day and I'm very impressed with it. Spitfire nailed it with the legato that everyone's been wanting from their libraries. Should gel together quite well with Abbey Road One or Chamber Strings.

I just use it to transpose everything in to a new key so I can hear the track with fresh ears, from a new tonal perspective. Helps you hear things you might miss because you are too familiar with it in the regular key. Once I have finished listening I turn it back off.

Nice James, as always! Using Appassionata 'shorts' is hard to work with I experienced (just posted some demos using primarily longs). The expressive, passionate core of this lib reveals itself on the longer notes more I feel. Curious about your point of view. Thums up for your work, and be well, Jeff

For me I will only be using the legato in this library. It felt like the delay offset only works for the legato but leaves the shorts out of place, but to be honest I only bought it for the legato patches as they sound great.

Hello Daniel, Since you’ve used both, which do you prefer? Appasionata or Cinematic Studio Strings for their legato? Thank you if you take the time to reply.

I am liking Appasionata for the emotional melodic lines more at the moment. CSS is usually my bread and butter so its possible most times I will end up layering both for the final sound (having two great but slightly different legato patches playing the same line adds some 'humanity' due to the legatos not being identical it feels a bit more alive)

More RAM is important for composing, because in order to be able to play and stream multiple wav files used by sample libraries you need to store the first few seconds into RAM which can be played immediately as you press a key on your midi controller, that few seconds of 'preload' allows time for the computer to load the rest of the wav file. Its very clever, but is heavily RAM focused. I have 64gig 12core 2013mac pro

  • @-Meric-

    @-Meric-

16GB enough for Ochestral Mock-up's. Big Mock-up's? You'll need to be watching your RAM meter... especially if you aren't using Kontakt and are using players which do not have a purge feature. Sample libraries load their sounds with DFD, only a portion of the sample is loaded in RAM for quick playback while it fetches the whole thing off your desk. You can save some RAM by lowering this DFD number size down if you have an SSD (Which you do) but the real RAM saver would be purging. That is removing all the samples from RAM and only loading them in when you play the note. Many samplers do not have this, but Kontakt does. If you want to not worry about RAM 32 should be a good amount for any starter who doesn't have the huge flagship libraries.
