I had the first, red tracksuited, version bought for me in April 1976. They were quite pricey at the time and as you pointed out were a very large toy compared to other action figures. Although the skin sleeve perished long ago and the socks disappeared, Steve is still looking good on display in my studio. Keep up your dogged research and great filmmaking. Cheers 👍

The six million dollar man is still one of my absolute favorite t v shows and I still have some of the toys that I purchased off ebay.

After waiting to get MY first Kenner Six Million Doller Man, I finally got one. My best friend back in the day had one and I loved playing with it and his Bionic Transport. I have been trying to gather all the small parts for my Transport, but I can't find anything locally and EBay is filled with crazy prices helped out by high shipping costs...... I have ran in to two shady sellers that post deceptive photos or flat out lied about questions. Take up time and money slow to be returned by Ebay....... But I am still just in awe about the toy as I was in 75.

As I stated on your bionic repair station video, Six Mill really ran neck and neck with Megos when I was a kid. After all of these decades (did I says decades?) it has only gotten more impressive when compared to what we have seen for toys during all that time. In fact I would go as far as to say Star Wars really cut down on how creative companies would go to create a figure once their 3 3/4 figures sold like gang busters. If you look at the Six Mill figure, there is a ton of engineering on him. I consider him one of the last miracles in the action figure era. Here you have a figure that not only has bionic features with the modules, but also an outer skin to cover them! I'm not entirely sure even Hot Toys would do that today if they picked up the license. I think Six Mill was one of the last great figures where a company truly tried to build something that could be imagined doing so many of the things the character did. It was a major achievement in product design with mass marketing appeal that hit the shelves with an astoundingly good price. The fact that this came on strong when the Mego brand was beginning to lose steam really speaks to the fact that scale does not always necessitate whether a figure line can successfully carry playsets. People talk allot about GI JOE in the small scale during the 80's, but look at the adventure sets developed during the 60's and 70's for the 12 inch versions? I think it really just comes down to how well they are designed with kids in mind while being constructed to be produced economically. But I digress. I remember the first time I ever saw a Six Mill figure on the shelves. It was an impressive sight seeing this big figure with all kinds of gadgets with these huge graphics of Steve on the cover and those cool scenes of him lifting the motor that had an amazing likeness to Lee Majors. It was like Captain Action Artwork on steroids. Taking him out of the box for the first time new was like an exploration and discovery mission. All of his features were one-of-a-kind. There had never been a "bionic" eye. There had never been a figure with roll up skin that had bionics inside. And then he even had "bionic strength" by lifting an engine block. It was really an event getting this figure new. There was nothing out there like him and remains so to this day. The quality was (and remains) impeccable. Oh if you're ever looking for an excellent arm skin replacement, this guy right here is the real deal. Superb quality, exact fit, and the skin tone is dead on from the 70's. I highly recommend. my absolute favorite holiday gift got a huge haul of bionic man toys from my aunt kept waking up to see if it was really in the house or if they were only a dream. Wow

Wow I never had one but the rich kids in primary school did lol but I did get to play with one and they were awesome. Way before there time.

The Six Million Dollar Man was my first favorite science fiction TV series, and I wish I had these figures featured in the video. They look fantastic. He would've fitted in with G. I. Joe once brought to scale.

Many thanks for this fantastic review. Your obviously a fan, even owning a Six million Dollar Man T-shirt and all. I've wanted a complete Six Million Dollar man action figure since I was 5 years old. The bionic capability(which was the precursor to the Cyberpunk trend which came years later), always fascinated me and I dreamed of playing with this figure and the others, performing bionic surgery at the end of battles with Steve Austin's foes etc. It should be noted that there are thankfully manufacturer's in the great UK, that produce reproduction skins, which are kind of essential as the 1970's examples as you mentioned are all perished. The new skins are more of a silicon type that work rather well, but it may pay to purchase a few if you want to play with them and re-live the glory days. Anyway, really enjoyed the video, it was so wonderful to see all the Steve's in the three available outfits and the excellent mention of all the upgrade parts which came out for this fabulous figure. If only the designers of this figure had the technology that we see today in action figure design, they would have made the most amazing version of this classic figure. I wish someone would pay them to do such an updated figure, so future generations could enjoy this amazing figure. The company that does, is going to be shocked at how popular such a figure will be. I've only seen a static statue since this figure and it kind of sucks compared to the original 70's figures because they were simply more action packed. Fans want to be able to see and play with those incredible bionics.

Call me a card-carrying geek, but I've always liked toys that featured robots and cyborgs.

I just recently got my own six million Dollar Man action figure I am missing the jumpsuit and the shoes but other than that is in real good shape and I really enjoy it

Spotted one or two items I have picked up in Action Man Job Lots over the years the origin of which I had often wondered about but now I know! And knowing is half the battle! ;-)

Yeah mate, the Mission to Mars outfit uses the same gloves and boots as the vintage Action Man Space Rangers. Palitoy borrowed kenner's tooling for these...

My wife objected when you called this a "boy's toy". She was into The Six Million Dollar Man growing up and had many of these figures and accessories. On the other hand, I did not. But we were both into Star Wars and sometimes display our Death Star playsets side-by-side.

I loved the show. I saved up my pocket money to buy the figure with his engine block. The six million dollar man and the bionic woman were family viewing on.a Saturday night. We would watch Doctor Who with Tom Baker then watch Lee Majors in.his latest adventure. My dad would say go on Steve sort them out.

I was always puzzled as to how Steve Austin’s non-bionic arm was able to move every bit as fast as his three bionic limbs when he was running.
