Sister Act 2 (Finale) Lauryn Hill - Joyful Joyful With Lyrics (Ft. Whoopi Goldberg)
Музыка
I grew up in a Catholic household and although I am no longer religious, I still enjoy listening to music inspired by religion.
Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit
Joyful Joyful
St. Francis Choir (Ft. Lauryn Hill, Ryan Toby, Devin Kamin, Ron Johnson & Whoopi Goldberg As Choir Director)
A studio version of this song and many of the other songs in the movie can be found on the Soundtrack:
Sister Act 2: Back In The Habit OST
I loved this movie when I was a younger. Lauren Hill has always been a ridiculous talented singer. Yet again I couldn't find a good quality video, so I uploaded my own. Hope you enjoy.
[Lauren Hill]
Joyful, Joyful
Lord, we adore Thee
God of glory
Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Hail Thee as the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver immortal gladness
Fill us with the light
Fill us with the light
Oh, fill us with the light of day......
[Choir]
Joyful, Joyful
Lord, we adore Thee
God of glory
Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Hail Thee as the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin, sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Drive it away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us
Fill us with the light of day
Light of day!
[Rap]
Check the rhyme
Joyful, Joyful
Lord we adore Thee
An' in my life
I put none before Thee
Cuz since I was a youngster
I came to know
That you was the only way to go
So I had to grow an' come to an understandin'
That I'm down with the King so now I'm demandin'
That you tell me who you down with, see
Cuz all I know is that I'm down with G-O-D
You down with G-O-D?
(Yeah, you know me)
You down with G-O-D?
(Yeah, you know me)
You down with G-O-D?
(Yeah, you know me)
Who's down with G-O-D?
(Everybody)
[4 girls]
Come and join the chorus
The mighty, mighty chorus
Which the morning stars begun
The Father of love is reigning over us
[Lauryn Hill]
by the way
[Choir]
What have you done for Him lately?
Ooh, ooh, ooh yeah
What have you done for Him lately?
He watches over everything
So we sing
Joyful, Joyful
Lord, we adore Thee
God of glory
Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Hail Thee as the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin, sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Drive it away
Giver of immortal gladness ([Lauryn Hill] won't you)
Fill us ([Ryan Toby] Fill us with the light of day, Lord, fill us)
Fill us ([Ryan Toby] oh we need You, yes we do, fill us)
Fill us ([Ryan Toby] yeah..., oh, oh yeah)
Fill us ([3 guys] with the light of day, Lord)
...
([Lauryn Hill] We need you, come right away,
we need you, need you today, we need you,
I'm here to say fill us, fill us, fill us, fill us...)
Fill us with the light of day ([Lauryn Hill] oh, yeah)
Light of day!

Omg we should do a flash mob in spring like nationwide! Like with our masks and everything, everyone socially distant. It would be so cool. I think the masks and distance will actually add more weight to the performance!!!
This movie was a great example of showcasing color, ethnicity, true diversity just rocking together….and I love how it was done without talking about it and with just living it in the moment. God I miss the 90s. Plus, it wasn’t about thotting, sexuality, etc…. just talent, hard work, building character, standing up for the greater good, AND CELEBRATING VIBES with it!!!

There are so many people that can sing...many can sing well...and then others are just blessed with talent on a whole other level. Lauryn is one of those individuals. Much like Whitney(RIP) & Mariah... some are just blessed with more. Not to mention her rap game was pretty dope too.

I also sang this in choir in middle school. 😅 We actually competed with it a couple times.

One of the greatest movie musical arrangement ever
Never noticed the deaf sign language interpreter/ ‘singer’ begins Lauryn til yesterday. Always thought she was just dancing. THAT is prime representation. I love this movie 😭

That's the magic of music, even if u're not religious u can appreciate! Actually, i really like those american black churches (is that offensive? I mean churches that black people use to go) , seems that isn't boring like "regular church". If I'm not wrong, Aretha Frankling started singing at the church!
Lauryn Hill's voice will make you shed tears. Wow!
