Me too. But there is one plot hole that never got addressed. The lead girl was told by her mother to focus on her schoolwork. But this choir was, if I am not mistaken, schoolwork. Therefore, by prohibiting her daughter from participating, isn't she preventing her daughter from completing her assigned schoolwork as she was instructed by mama to focus on? Seems to me that she wasn't trying to chase her "coulda, shoulda, wouldas" as mama called it, she was trying to do her class assignment as mama told her to do. And if a kid joins the choir at church, are they chasing dreams, or are they worshipping God in a little bit of an extra way? And how many people set that choir work aside as soon as they are done with school and join the work force? Virtually all of them. This is really my only complaint about the film is that Sheryl Lee Ralph is playing a character that doesn't ring true in her position. Other than that, the film is a wonderful place to visit for a little while.

@@briangallagher787 Did you ever notice that people always say "Not to belittle your concerns..." or some similar meaningless platitude right before they belittle and insult you? Would you care to try that again, but this time in human speak?

@@heinleinreader First how were you belittled or insulted by what I said? Now since you seem to want me to be impolite. No problem. Apparently you are not a parent. Otherwise you would not have been stupid enough to think, the Mother would think of that class as anything other than an extra curricular activity. That’s why I was surprised she didn’t make her daughter quit the class.

The actor said in an interview that they performed the song live during filming and everyone's reactions were genuine. Only a few people knew he was planning to hit that high note. They recorded the song with the high note and had it dubbed in in post, but they kept everyone's reactions in the film.

What's amazing to me about this video is how very talented people can fake like they can't sing and with a little coaching belt out an awe inspiring performance.
@heinleinreader
Жыл бұрын
That may be the hardest thing for a really good singer to do, is to sing poorly. For a group of them to do so, such as a choir, is damn near impossible. This took incredible coaching and much more practice than coaching them for singing it well as a group would.
