Whoopi Goldberg - Sister Act - Oh Maria
Hail holy Queen enthroned above,
Oh Maria,
Hail mother of Mercy and of Love,
Oh Maria,
Triumph all ye cherubim!
Sing with us ye seraphim!
Heaven and Earth, resound the hymn!
Salve (salve), salve, salve Regina!
(Clapping Hands)
Hail holy Queen enthroned above,
Oh Maria,
Hail mother of Mercy and of Love,
Oh Maria,
Triumph all ye cherubim!
Sing with us ye seraphim!
Heaven and Earth, resound the hymn!
Salve, salve-salve, salve Regina!
(Piano)
Our life, our sweetness here below,
(Oh-o-o)Oh Maria,
Our hope in sorrow and in woe (woe-oh-oh),
Oh Maria,
Triumph all ye cherubim (cherubim),
Sing with us ye seraphim (seraphim),
Heaven and Earth resound the Hymn!
Salve, salve-salve, salve Regina!
A-le-lu-iah
Mater ad mater inter marata
Sanctus sanctus dominus
Virgo respice mater ad spice
Sanctus sanctus dominus
A-le-lu-iah (A-le-lu-iah)
Our life, our sweetness here below,
Oh-o-oh-o Maria,
Our hope in sorrow and in woe,
Woh-o-oh-o Maria,
Triumph all ye cherubim (cherubim),
Sing with us ye seraphim (sweet seraphim)
Heaven and Earth, resound the Hymn!
Salve, salve-salve, salve Regina! (Salve yeah)
Salve Regina! (woh-o-oh)
Salve Regina!

What I really like is when they sing that final high note in the chorus, and then the clean stop. They literally almost frighten themselves, as they can't believe they just did that. The expression on their faces is priceless

My sister was pregnant at around 8 months with her first child and she needed my help as she didn't think something was right, I wasn't able to take her to the hospital and she had to basically beg for the money for a taxi to get to the hospital, this was in the UK. Her baby had died due to placenta failure and it has hurt me ever since. The baby was fully formed and the hospital allowed my sister to cradle her for several days on an air conditioned bed in a private room to help with the grieving process, is this normal in the US? Or elsewhere? Having heard she gave birth via phone, she exclaimed "she's beautiful", even though she clearly died.. Me helping her wouldn't have made a difference but she was all alone. She has since given birth to a healthy baby but underweight back in November but required hospital visits 5 days of every week after conception due to the risk and I was with her every step of the way, I'm sure I've lost.5 years of life in the process but completely worth it. I'm sorry to offload on you but I feel like I need to say this.

Exactly...she was ready to give satisfaction to the slow, opening section with all the voices in beautiful harmony and correct pitch, etc- then the downbeat sorta killed her vibe, lol. But she eventually comes around to love their "new style," where their voices "call" people off the streets to come in and worship. A wonderfully understated comedy with quite a positive message.

She was a great character. Even when she's at odds with Dolores, you can at least see where she's coming from. It's very clear that with everything she does, she's acting out of devotion to her faith and her love of the Sisters (She indeed is like a mother to them), and is seeking what she earnestly believes to be in the best interests of both. That then makes it all the better when she takes a shine to Dolores.

This video brings me back to when I was a little girl in the Catholic Church. And a group of people came in and they started singing just like this, and it was so amazing uplifting. Joyful, and then the next thing I know they Took it away. There Are people in the church that complains because they like the old traditional stuff, they're like kids. They're not used to new things, or They're not used to new Routines. But I always loved this video.😊😂😊😂

In Catholic practice, the congregation is supposed to the star, with the choir adding support. There are Catholic congregations that display this skill in music. My experience as a former Catholic who goes to Mass when relatives are in the choir is that congregations' skill in singing is improving and the choice of hymns has become increasingly small-c catholic.

It means "beloved Mother, undefiled" in latin (sorry, i don't speak english). As you must know, Latin is the language church for Roman Catholics. In 1968, after the Second Vatican Council, Catholic Masses are usually done in the vernacular of the parish community (before, almost all were in Latin). Still, currently Latin is teach in many schools of Roman Catholic majority countries. I studied Latin in highschool, and it's a nightmare! Latin grammar is extremely difficult.

My favorite thing is the happiness of the old nuns of the choir. They are so cute! ^^

It will never fail to make me laugh whenever the soloists act surprised whenever they hit the notes.

The first part was beautiful...all of them on key and together like a traditional choir. Then they bust out and it's like...BEAUTY. Both styles sounded marvelous.

I would definitely love to have a choir like this in my church :) I just don't understand why clapping for an amazing choir is not allowed during the Mass.
