My machine is just like this, except it's a 201P made in Australia. The stitching it does is just beautiful.

I came from your website, lots of information there and thank you so much. I have run across quite a few of the 99k on facebook and craigslist but no 201, so I am still holding out in hopes of finding one. :)

Thanks for this video. I have an old black 201, the old shape, and use it for quilting as the aperture is so large. It was a treadle in a closed cabinet but my mum had it converted to electricity when I was about ten. I did learn originally on it as a treadle. It is great fun using a treadle. I may convert it back I am not sure. I also have a hand crank 201 set in a wooden case. I bought this in the 80s second hand it was originally electric, the dealer changed it before he sold it as the motor had burned out, but I might see if I can turn that one into treadle. I really enjoy all your videos many thanks again.

Hi Maureen that would be difficult and the belt machines run better anyway. You will love the 201. I call mine Duchess.

I think the "Singer 216G" will give the 201 a run for its money! I wish i could get an aluminum 201K in the states.

I found a black 201-2 complete except for the key at a Goodwill outlet for $8. Excellent condition bobbins some tools attachments and a manual printed in 1947. I have to figure out what to do with it now.

Hi Alex, can you please tell me (if you know and I imagine you do), what year the Singer 201K went from cast iron to aluminum? Would one or the other be preferred for thick leather work? Thanks. I enjoy your website too. Keep up the great work.

Hello. I've just bought one of these to do the interior upholstery of the family project cars. Can you please give me some advise on needle and thread sizes? The interiors are going to be leather, vinyl etc. I remember sewing with my Mum when I was young and her bench looked just like yours, happy memories. Thanks again......

Hi Alex, Thanks for all your videos, I am learning a lot! Question, are all singer 201s the same size around the base? I would like to put an electric foot pedal 201 in a Brentwood case currently used for a electric lever 201. I don’t have either item yet, hence the question. Thanks in advance!

Alex, what are your thoughts on the that replacement motor in terms of longevity? Have you every tossed a servo motor on one of the 201s to see how it fairs with the added power down at the low speeds?

Any idea what it would cost to retire a 201k. I'm looking for one on eBay, but the research suggest that electrical issues are common because of the age of the wiring. Any suggestions.

Any tips for a beginner like me with a 201k handle opp. I like the handle operation but i then have the one hand only for the fabric . Also i think by needle clicks a bit near the bobin hook? seems quite before the material goes through though :) thanks and good video

+atommachine It is very easy to bolt on a motor, just one bolt. try putting in a fresh needle as well that may cure the clicking...

Hi Alex. I've been to your sewalot site, and very interesting it was too. I've been bidding on Ebay but these machines are going for big money now. I managed to find one cheap, which I will be picking up tomorrow, but there seems to be something missing off it. I'm good at fixing things but have no experience with sewing machines. Is there anywhere I can get a parts list or diagram of the 201k like yours? Seen plenty of the cast iron ones but not many ally ones until I found you video. Thanks
