Lyrics:
Each of these my three babies
I will carry with me for myself
I ask no one else will be
Mother to these three
And of course I'm like a wild horse
But there's no other way I could be
Water and feed are not tools that I need
For the thing that I've chosen to be
In my soul
My blood and my bones
I have wrapped your cold bodies around me
The face on you
The smell of you
Will always be with me
Each of these my three babies
I was not willing to leave
Though I tried, I blasphemed and denied
I know they will be returned to me
Each of these my babies
Have brought you closer to me
No longer mad like a horse
I'm still wild but not lost
From the thing that I've chosen to be
And it's 'cause you've thrilled me
Silenced me, stilled me
Proved things I never believed
The face on you
The smell of you
Will always be with me
Each of these, my three babies
I will carry with me for myself
I ask no one else will be
Mother to these three

Ireland’s greatest ever female voice has left us. Sinead tried so hard but in the end, it was all too much. May she Rest In Peace and be in the arms of her loving son.

Ireland's, but also the world's. I know there are more popular, female singers who are globally renowned. However, I think most of them (living) still can't hold a candle to Sinead. May she RIP.

Sinead inspired many. Remember hanging in the west village with my friends in the 90s and we were soooo obsessed with the beautiful fiery soul who taught us about the travesties of this world. Gosh, she removed the veil of ignorance. I was but a teen but I knew it was TRUTH. I love you Queen. You have raised the consciousness of a nation. ❤️💔

This song appeared in 1990, two years before she stood before the world and tried to "prove things we'd never believe." The stunned silence after she tore up the photo, the boos and jeers when she appeared on stage at a subsequent Bob Dylan concert, the violent threats by Joe Pesci -- had she anticipated any of this? But she was determined to make us look at it all. And then, ten years later, the world offered proof. She was right all along.

I wish you said this in a real face to face conversation with me because I would grab you and hugg you so tight and with the same tears forming in my eye beds I would say let's sit and chat it up some in her honor. Heart broken yes, but it's a world we live in that silences the brave and gives glory to the wicked. Soon Justice of the unseen Almighty will as Daniel 2:44 says put an end to it... That's the only hope we have. 😢❤

What a loss, may Sinead RIP. So sad for her struggles and losses. Her voice is like no other (she is the GOAT of female voices) going from such tenderness to utter menacing, even in this song. Truly unbelievable, every time I hear it. This is one of my most favourite songs of hers. An utterly angelic voice and she had such striking features - that face! Those eyes! I love her bravery and the warrior that she was. I was a teen when she became famous and loved her immediately; her moxy (understatement) was so out of the norm for popular culture and how we (girls) "should" be. I pray for her peace, finally. And I know she'll come back even more incredible and powerful in the next life. Also, this is actually a beautiful video. I had forgotten and hadn't watched it in years.

Loved the whole album when it first came out, but, at 14, I was a bit too young to get this song. Now I'm my 40"s, & never being able to have a child live to term it has a meaning my child self never got.

Just over the past few days I have been able to watch or sing any of her videos or songs. I find it still difficult to mention her. It's a deep seeded loss yet again...The tragedy is while she was screaming for help and justice NO ONE listened... Very few of us heard her but our voices got smaller, our hearts beat slower... While our minds are consumed the absence of love for one another drowns out the human compassion so many of us crave need want. She was that human with compassion...she was a once in a lifetime voice that was warning us of so many unjust things going on and she paid horribly for her honesty courage and her losses... her absence her death should be more than just another memory... I miss and love you sweet sister, wish we could go for a long horse back ride and relax on the shore while you sing to the sea and all the babies who love adore and miss you. You are forever sadly bravely missed. You will Live Forever ❤ Love always Alice Mays Daughter

Beautifully put. I agree with everything you have said. There never has and never will be anyone like her. A true artist with a beautiful soul. Heartbroken she has gone.

I listened to this non-stop after I had a miscarriage. Sinead wrote this about her own miscarriages. The honest genius of how she uses her incredible voice to communicate the deepest emotions humans find difficult to express has helped me (and I am sure countless others) through crises. I hope she has enough support and love with the pain of losing her son.
