I've heard so many peaceful Christmas carols sung by great voices that destroy the spirit of the song by using it as a showcase for their loudest and strongest pitch, but to me, that betrays the song, and the notion of taking the season as a gift. Miss O'Connor gave this beautiful song its perfect tribute. She kept it peaceful, soft and allowed her audience to listen to its verses .

My mom would sing silent night to me many nights growing up, and is one of my earliest memories. I’ve never heard a version that made me feel as comforted and calm as Sinead’s voice does in this. Suddenly I’m a child in my mothers arms again. Thank you for this.

She sings with one as clear voice as a Angel But I can remember her first song, and also, like Nothing Comparse, the first time in Tv was aired to MTV. I was overcome by Tränen. I was just talking to a neighbour about the tragic loss yesterday, and asked her if she had heard this - I told her, the world stops turning while you listen, it is so magical. If I remember, going by the video, it was recorded for Malcolm McClaren’s Ghosts of Oxford Street film.
