Lyrics:
Well, you tell us that we're wrong
And you tell us not to sing our song
Nothing we can say will make you see
You got a heart of stone, you can never feel
You say "Oh, I'm not afraid, it can't happen to me
I've lived my life as a good man
Oh, no you're out of your mind
It won't happen to me
'Cause I've carried my weight and I've been a strong man"
Listen to the man in the liquor store
Yelling "anybody want a drink before the war?"
And your parents paid you through
You got a nice big car, nothing bothers you
Somebody cut out your eyes, you refuse to see
Ah, somebody cut out your heart, you refuse to feel
And you live in a shell
You create your own hell
You live in the past and talk about war
And you dig your own grave, yeah
But it's a life you can save
So stop getting fast, it's not gonna happen
And you'll cry but you'll never fall, no, no, no
You're building a wall
Gotta break it down, start again
No, no, no, it won't happen to us
We've lived our lives, basically we've been good men
So stop talking of war
'Cause you know we've heard it all before
Why don't you go out there and do something useful?
Oh, listen to the man in the liquor store
He yelling "anybody want to drink before the war?"
"Anybody want to drink before the war?"
"Anybody want to drink before the war?"

The passion in this song is overwhelming
This song is true proof of how important a strong voice is. The music is minimal, the melody is not the most changeable, the most important thing here is the voice, the power, the anguish... may you rest in peace Sinead, there will probably never be an artist like you again.

Honestly - not 'Nothing compares 2You' but THIS song ALWAYS makes shivers down my back. RIP Sinead... .
Одна из любимых, пересмотреть переслушать не могу остановиться, очень жаль ..Очень талантлива , навсегда в сердце..
I will always carry Sinead with me. I won’t forget the struggle of the Irish to be free, I won’t forget the British’s cruelty. Sinead, will alway be my hero.
It really amazed mig that Sinéad wrote this song when she was just a teen very matured and insightfull, she is a wonder and genius. Nothing compared to her.
One of my favorites from her. I certainly hope she has found peace. RIP Sinead O'Connor. ❤🙏
RIP sweet Sinead, your passion and talent gave so much to the world 💜
A timeless classic. Thank you for the wonderful music! RIP
Ahh, Sinead you were such a badass woman and an inspiration. You were never afraid to damn the plan, damn the man, and start again. You pushed us to see more of ourselves, like a true artist. I wish you divine peace. ❤🙏🏻
Beautiful melody, full of emotion about the atrocities that took place 100 miles up the road ... incredibly brave as well as beautiful. Sinead broke so many boundaries for women, for peace and for her craft. The line 'why don't you go out there and do something useful' in the song is so powerful a message. Sinead is my all time favourite musician and this is her best song in my opinion, Troy coming a very close second. Thank you Sinead. Petra

Thank you, Sinead, for just being here and sharing your amazing art with the world. A true legend and legends never truly die.
Literally the best singer I’ve ever heard, live or studio she sounded amazing. She had a hard life, her poor son.
Rip Sinead I get chills everytime I listen to your beautiful voice. You were very loved I'll miss you😢
She was a Lion, Rest gently you'll never be forgotten❤❤
I'm a fan of Sinead for 20+ years, but I've never heard this song before today (I might be a bad fan). And this song is soooo awesome, I love it so much ❤
I was one of the lucky ones who discovered this back when it was first released.
Na zawsze w sercu i pamięci. Byłaś i pozostaniesz wielką osobowością. 🖤
I recall vividly the day I bought here album Lion and the Cobra (on a whim, hadn't heard of her)..blown away that a 19-year-old could deliver such a powerful record; amazing tunes, amazing voice - but the pain was there for all to see. Subsequently her life was tormented and brutally unlucky. But what a voice. RIP Sinead Oconnor
God rest her soul. May she rest in peace with her son.
A friend of mine came walking through the house this morning and I had a feeling that I have heard it before but I wasn't sure about it. I have been battling alcohol and drug addiction for years I have always been a fan of Shanid O'Conner ever since I was a teenager my sister loved the song nothing compares and I listen to it every time I get a chance and I cry when I hear it sometimes. It's not just a song but more like a song from the heaven's about it warms my heart. This song has been playing on my device's all around the sober house that I am in and I would like to say that it my have been a huge help for my sons who are probably going to have a dad that is sober for the rest of my life and I am excited because I made a decision to be there for them and drown in a bottle like my father did. Ty so much Shanid O'Conner I love you forever and ever..

Seriously.. One of the greatest and STRONGEST "voices" (persons) to walk this world... I could actually listen to her going into a street fight with the odds stacked against me... And, just the same.. Trying to relax and go to sleep with a BIG smile on my sleeping face.. I'm a big eclectic fan of music, and especially pipes, but I've never heard anyone who sings more personal than Sinéad... One huge regret is that I never got to talk to her... She was approachable like few others, I've seen.. Keep singing beautiful one! Other Angels surely appreciate it too...
Rest in peace 🩷
Goodbye Sinead! Thank you for all you gave me... I always watched you with amazement, admiring your power...even though knowing life is hard, for you and all the people, you were the one who was not afraid to scream it loud.... I can't believe it. Only hope you're in a better happier place now. RIP 😢 I will never forget you....I wish I was like you. I will never get in terms with what's happening nowadays....
rest in peace you perfect soul🫀
