Simplifying Humility And Integrity | Joe Sabini | TEDxUniversityofNevada

Humility, integrity, and hypocrisy are words people use a lot without really understanding what they mean. In this brief talk, Joe Sabini provides a simple way to understand each concept and explains how they relate to each other. Joe Sabini has lived in Reno, Nevada for his whole life. After graduating at Reno High School, he has gone on to attend the University of Nevada, Reno. He is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in the College of Business. Joe brings humor and thoughtfulness to all aspects in his life. He currently is found as the Lighting Designer for a local Creative Team at Grace Church Reno and assists in media and networking needs. In his free time, he finds passion in music and live productions and has performed all over the United States, including Carnegie Hall. He looks forward to traveling frequently to Australia along with other parts of the world on trips with the Love Does Team. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Clear thinking... thank you. Once when a child asked 'Abdu'l-Bahá' of the Baha'i Faith why all the rivers of the earth flow into the ocean, He said, 'because it sets itself lower than them all and so draws them to itself’. ~ Bahá'í World, vol. IV

Good talk. I like how he explained the topics in a little over 5 mins. I have read and listened to a lot of real life stories that build integrity - all of those came from a very good book Backbone Power The Science of Saying No. I recommend that everyone should read the book and/or listen to the audiobook. I swear, it's a great book.

Quick and to the point. The only thing I disagree with is your comment, "Integrity is aligning your actions with your beliefs." Aligning actions and beliefs are more about commitment and dedication. "Integrity" has to with moral principles, and since not everyone's beliefs are based on moral principles, it would be incorrect to say that "Integrity is aligning your actions with your beliefs."

Your point is taken, but I disagree. Our common understanding of integrity is tied to morality, but its basic meaning is morally agnostic. When we talk about personal or organizational integrity, keeping the basic definition invites us to intentionally express what we believe so there's a clear basis to evaluate integrity.

Thank you for expressing your view. Whenever I come across a video or post, I like to get as many opinions as possible. Words have different meanings to each of us. If we want to have integrity, we must first figure out what we really believe. That can take a lifetime.

A GREAT TALKING POINT. I BELIEVE ONCE A LIAR OR THIEF ALWAYS ONE. BENDING THE TRUTH IS FOR ME NOT QUITE A LIE EXP, WHEN A GOOD FRIEND SHOWED ME HIS 90''90S ELVIS CHROME SUNGLASSES, I SAID NO AND SHOOK MY HEAD. THAT WAS RUDE, AND HURTFUL. WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE WAS TO SAY, WOW, THEY LOOK GREAT!! "I NEVER MET EG CARROLL IN MY LIFE AND DIDN'T KNOW WHO SHE IS....NOW THIS IS A TRUE LIE!!!
