Why humility matters in leadership | Marvin Epstein | TEDxFlowerMound

Can humility help you build wealth? The worlds greatest leaders have influence, strength, and power. Marvin shows us how these character traits are rooted in one thing: humility. Marvin is a successful California Entrepreneur who teaches us what really matters. His talk will help you see the link between humility and success. TEDx is about ideas worth spreading. TEDx is a program of local events designed to bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Just like a TED event, the TEDx event is focused on bringing in live speakers to spark deep conversations and connections in a smaller group. CEO This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

My TEDX talk was more than a labor of love it was with the inspiration and support of loved ones.. Having mom in the front row you can see it in my eyes along with my words how important she is in my life. This was a true family endeavor and grateful appreciation to my niece, Meira Kaufman (Now Meira Rodbell :)) who has enumerable talents and is an amazing human being who worked tireless on my PowerPoint presentation.. And a special thank you to my niece Danielle Kaufman who's artistic creativity put the polish on what I now welcome all of you enjoy. Please comment so I can learn from everyone.

7:37 . A humble leader will always listen, and that provides the right atmosphere for problem solving. Leadership without humility is based on a faulty foundation and is bound to fail.

I have watched this video at least 10 times and it deepens my understanding of 1 core value I found value in and it is WHO YOU ARE and not what you do! Very empowering and humbling at the same time. The story about your mum got me thinking about my own folks and how much I owe them. Watched this with my coffee this morning and it triggered a very productive but also strangely relaxed day!

Well said Marvin Epstein, humility is the hardest trait to acquire and so easy to loose. Most misunderstand what humility is and how to obtain and retain it, And the irony of it is, it is the most powerful trait and possessing it opens you to acquire all the other desirable traits.

Marvin, you nailed this talk! Thank you for not only allowing yourself to get vulnerable with the world...but for also sharing some true and valuable words of wisdom! Humility is so rare these days...such a deep and powerful form to relate and connect with one another. Extremely proud of you! Looking forward to seeing more of you in person and on KZread! P.s. I guess I will share my own late bloomer humility and admit that I just popped my very FIRST and only "KZread comment" virginity to your video! 😅🤓😜👏🏼

Hello, Marvin. This is Alex from last night. Great talk; a lot resonated with me, and it is reassurance to all that everything takes care of itself if you are a good Human Being. I listened carefully , watched through twice and took some notes on the second go round. I’ll also add, something I have written on my wall is ‘WHSH’ Whole Hearted Solid Honest - Words that explain me, and I guess principles to fall back on creatively. I’d be grateful to learn anything you’d be willing to teach me.

Great theme... Baha'u'llah of the Baha'i Faith says that the soil (i.e. humus) should never be exalted above man and say to man that even though it has "...a wealth that supplieth the needs of all creation - behold the measure of my humility, witness with what absolute submissiveness I allow myself to be trodden beneath the feet of men.."

100% agree on the value of humility in leaders. But I wouldn’t characterize Mark Zuckerberg as humble. In fact, I’d characterize him as just the opposite based on what we know about humility in the social sciences.
