Southgate should have been fired after losing the final against Italy. We will never have a better chance of winning silverware than that. Literally everything fell into place for us - we were playing at Wembley, against a below average Italy team, and we even managed to steal an early goal. And despite all of this, Southgate still bottled it with his terrible in game management. He proved then and there that he will never be good enough to lead England to victory.

Southgate was more concerned at his defensive flaws than his CREATIVE ABILITIES. They could NOT win the Euros against an AVAERAGE Italian side at Wembley- There's NO WAY they'll win at GERMANY under Southgate.

All England talk is based on how talented the players are and how good they play for their clubs. But those conditions aren't the same as for the national team. At their clubs they are nearly all coached by top coaches who understand the game so well and have a system and positions which suit them perfectly. What not enough people seem to get is, when you just look only at performances for the national team it's an entirely different story. The performance we saw vs Brazil isn't doing anything against any of the top contenders. It's also a fallacy England have the best players. They have some top players, they have alot of attacking depth, but the back line and midfield is poor. Also, France and Portugal definitely rival England for pure talent, and for France, I'd say surpass.

Agree. Southgate pedestrian and dull as ditchwater to watch. every big tournament weve been in weve managed to screw up a golden opportunity mainly due to Southgate. Croatia 1-0 up in 2018 they adjusted and we didnt react lost 2-1. Italy in the Euros scored after 2 minutes go for the game against that aging Italian side and we sat back and just gave the game away. France in the last world cup soon as we scored should have gone for the throat but again we sat back and lost momentum and Giroud scored the winner.

I thought our best midfield partnership was Rice and Bellingham with Madison as the 10. Appreciate Bellingham plays as 10 for Madrid but he was so good at 8 next to Rice as 6.

I honestly believe I could get this current crop of players to the semi’s in any international tournament. They’re all mates now through social media, online gaming, etc so there’s no club rivalries to contend with like there was. They’re either very young or haven’t won much so it’s a very ambitious motivated squad. They’re the most talented bunch in generations. There’s ample attackers. Most have played under the best coaches so already have the winning mentality. The current quality of international teams is no where near as competitive as it used to be. Literally everything is in Englands favour aside from a little bit of bravery and tactical astuteness which we’ll never get from Southgate.

I’ve seen enough tournaments come and go and a frequently recurring theme each and every time is “England has a great team great squad the best midfielder/defence/striker*delete as appropriate and should win this competition” and come the elimination there’s always a palpable shock as to how it’s happened. As far back as I can remember England has always been the collection of players who do well at club level and try to smash it together to fluke a win- look at Gerrard and Lampard for years for example. Greece won a euros based in a team performance at the expense of the individual. I have nothing against Mainoo but my heart has sunk regarding the euros surrounding all the talk of him starting. We are three months or so out and now we are looking at injection a new component when it should be very much at the finest of fine tuning stage and not at the inception phase. Mainoo tears up the premier league between now and the end of the season then there’s an argument for him to maybe make the edge of the squad. How are we even discussing him starting?

Lack of bravery, tactical knowledge, managerial ability - take your pick. The facts are that he’s failed almost everytime he’s gone up against the top teams and has made a career beating lower ranked teams. His tournament record masks the fact that he’s had easy runs and been beaten the first time they’ve come up against a challenge.
