Yes to make sure it doesn’t back out. Once you torque down the pinion nut, Tap it in just enough to keep nut from turning.

@@hawaiianbrokechanic does the yoke go back all the way flush or is it supposed to have a small gap ?

@@lloydbauch8908 the yoke should go all the way in until it hits the bearing. Be sure you’ve lined up the splines so it can slide in properly. Be sure to torque the pinion nut to your factory specs… Then you can tap in the pinion nut tabs to lock it in.
