This seal is for the end of a solid axle tube, to keep gear oil in, and the elements out. A leaking seal could lead to considerable damage to your differential. Or, if you needed to remove an axle, or a bearing, or do maintenance on a differential, you should install a new seal when you put things back together. This video shows you how to install a new seal on your 1999-2007 Chevy Silverado.

Wow finally instruction that involve dirt and rust and what to do!
Finally, someone who doesn't waste time removing the caliper from the bracket and then the bracket!
No nonsense, no repeating, straight to the point...I love it! Subscribed!

Thanks so much for this video. You made my life so easy tonight 😊
The one thing that wasn't mentioned is basically the reason why the axle seal is leaking.. Check your axle vent if it's plugged your going to be doing that job again.. other then that this vid is very educational
Great video. Thanks for keeping it real.
Nice video !
Shoulda checked pad thickness prior to filling up the reservoir. Otherwise, thanks for the good demonstration.

Thanks it helped
Great video
great video.
How would you do your rear axle bearings at the same time? Do they just slide right out after you take the seal off?
Perfection amigo gracias Campeon you are good no good you are very, very,,very good 3 very's.......
I was having trouble getting u clip out. I think to slide it in more you need to kinda pry it. Pushing hub on pushes it in so far. Once you pry the area inward the clip becomes exposed. Easier said then done tho
If you have to replace both seals on a 1993 silverado ck 3500 do you only have one C clip? Thank you for the video.
How long to let the RTV dry before you fill it back up?
it is the same seal for the Chevrolet Cheyenne year 1995 engine 5.0 liters tbi 305
The old vehicles never got that rusty.

@@squidlox5459 its because GM used wax dipping to seal the frame instead of paint or enamel
