❤ best lens reviewer on KZread. #facts
This lens is incredible. Throughout its zoom range, it is sharper than the 16-35 GM and 15-35 RF lenses that cost twice as much! Insane.

This isn't abt the lens..this abt your pure talent in photography. I love all your landscape photos in this video
Welcome back, Chris! Great to see you doing reviews after a few weeks off. I just bought the Tamron 17-28, but I might have to send it back! Wow! That's bananas!
The edge to edge sharpness and contrast wide open and the wide end of this lens look incredible. Thanks for the review, this lens is now my No.1 for wide angle zoom for astro. Can't wait for you to do a review of the Tamron 17-28mm f2.8.
great timing on this review, with all the sales today. cheers
I love your reviews Christopher. I have relied on them for many years. Thank you.
Thank you for the time you put into these reviews Chris!!
Hi Christopher! Thank you so much for this review ! This lens makes really fun. Ultra sharp! Hope the upcoming 24-70mm f 2.4 is also great
purchased last week and i love it. Thanks chris for review & confiming how good this lens is thanks.
Chris, didn't see this review coming. I was surprised when I saw this. Thank you for another great review!
Oh Chris... Just a week ago your review of the RF 24-105 F4 L made me buy this lens. Now this video of yours made me buy this lens. Can't wait to go shooting with it. Thank you so much!!!
Comprehensive and to the point. Excellent video. Feeling informed right now and frankly a little warm and fuzzy too. Subscribed
...very pleased to see your gear reviews again!!
Fantasitic review as usual. Extremely helpful!
Wow... now I want this over the tamron 17-28mm

The Tamron is way more travel friendly as it's almost half the weight, you can use front filters but is softer in the corners. The Sigma's IQ is perfection though

It's way heavier, but the image quality is off the charts! You can scan artworks with this!
wow, thats an amazing performance from such a wide lens with such a bright aperture. I'll have to add it to my list.
Wow! Sigma knocking it out of the park again!
Such a fan..thanks for this review Chris and all the others
Thank you for the review chris, great content by the Way
Great review, thanks! I just ordered it, really needed a wide angle zoom for my sony.
Really enjoyed this review - and have bought the lens for use on my new a7r III; thanks!
Wow, this lens is incredible. I've almost never seen a lens that sharp. Though, I do have to admit being surprised at pincushion distortion at 24mm.
simply the most relaxing, but at the same time most content-rich lens reviews on youtube. Thank you. The only downside is that good reviews make it hard not to want this lens.
watching your review just so relaxing...
Great review and superb images!
Thanks for the great review! Would love to see your review on the tamron 17-28mm, too.
Geez. I just got this lens today and it is probably the sharpest lens I have now. It’s insanely clear and razor sharp
Intrigued to know how it compares to the new Sony FE PZ 16-35mm F4 G Thanks CF, stellar work, as usual!
This would be an interesting match up on the new Sigma FP. Thanks for your review.
wow I have never heard give such a raving review...thanks
Thanks for the video. I just pulled the trigger on this one!
Great video. I have wanted to give this lens a try myself for a while.
So between this and Sigma's 40mm 1.4 ART, this lens manufacturer is releasing some insanely high performance lenses. Great review thank you.
This is my dream lens for vlogging and landscape for my r7. Enough focal length and high quality, most importantly, weather sealed.
Great Video! I really enjoy the way you compare every lense the same way. 👍🏻 If I may ask: Is there a review of the sony 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 OSS coming soon?
excellent review!
Seeing this lens perform amazingly makes me hyped up for the sigma's upcoming 24-70 👀

I bought the 24-70 for my Panasonic S1R. Its an awesome lens. Now I am strongly considering this 14-24 and will patiently wait for the Sigma 70-200 DG DN for L mount :)
Your voice has a great character for this type of audio
Excellent presentation!
As a Sigma 14-24/2.8 Art owner I want to confirm Christopher's findings! This lens is a beast. I fell in love with the build quality, but the image quality is better than anything I've ever owned! (Nikon 14-24/2.8 F, Nikon 14-30/4 Z, Sony 12-24/4 G, Sony 16-35/4.) It reminded of shooting with 70-200/4 L IS for the first time and realizing how sharp it was edge to edge wide open! That's the only lens that had a similar uniform sharpness wide open! It's insane!

@@kEvinCiTC It is an autofocus lens, but although it works perfectly fine on an a6400 APS-C camera I would probably buy a dedicated APS-C ultra wide angle lens to have a wider field of view for much less weight and cost, like the new Sony 10-20mm f/4 PZ G
Damn. This lens sounds like it's next level. Wish I could afford one!
its sharpness is out of this world!!

Bloody hell that sharpness blew me away! Totally unexpected.
Went to B&H and tried this, the Tamron and the Sigma 14mm f/1.8. This walks all over the Tamron, but you go and compare like for like with the 14mm prime and you can see the difference as much again. This seems a great value, great performing ultra wide, it's on my shopping list.
For the filter issue STC optics clip-in filters would do the job it would be nice to see a review on them.
Hi Chris, will you ever do a review the canon/Nikon Hsm version of this (the Sigma Lens 14-24 F2.8 Dg Hsm Canon Art) ? Would be great to see how much of an improvement the mirrorless made. Keep up the great work
Great lens, and another great review. Still waiting for the Tamron 17-28 review 😉 Just can't decide if 14mm and IQ is worth the extra money over the Tamron. In terms of sharpness maybe the Tamron is still plenty enough for a large print on the wall? I'm not a fan of the annoying filter solutions (front or back) and extra weight of this lens. But it just seems so fantastic in every other aspect.
Hey Chris, how does the DG DN version compare to the DG HSM version in terms of image quality, contrast, micro contrast, distortion? By the way, distortion and chromatic aberration are what I consider important for high end video camera, and I'd prefer lower micro contrast and intentionally avoid zeiss still lenses.
🙏 thanks. I like your reviews a lot 🙏

Looks like a great lens. Perhaps I'll pick one up if I ever move away from DSLRs... Though just like you, I'm surprised they didn't add filter threads to it. It's the main thing people detest about the Nikkor 14-24 f/2.8.
Hi Christoper, I appreciate your lens reviews very much, they are very helpful for me. Thanks a lot for your work. I am using an A7iii. In order to understand the test setup I would like to know: How are the dimensions of the test picture / test pattern, and what is the diameter of the circles on your test pattern? Could you please answer this questions to me?
@3:57 sold me, i own the 16-35 and i was wondering how much sharper it would be. Awesome.
compared to sonys 16-35 f.28?
Nice review, Is there sharpness difference from DSLR Mount(DG HSM)?
Wishing sigma would make fast zooms like 10-18, 16-55 f2.8 for the sony apsc. And priced half the FF counterparts
There is the EF mount which if used on my metabones, I wonder if any improvements can occur.
The Haida Filter for this lens works great (but is HUGE).

They've announced a set of rear ND glass filters for it
i did just buy a Rokinon 12mm 2.0 MF for my sony a6400. that is obviously a very affordable option for someone needing a wide on crop APS-c, achieving an 18mm equivalent on crop. best options I've found for low $$.
Thanks for your videos. I always watch your lens reviews. I hope you get a sony 16-35 gm lens and a 85 gm and a 135 gm for review. Greetings from Hungary
Would you use this lens for all landscape photos, or would you prefer a Prime lens for Milky Way photos? I've always been a "prime" guy but considering buying this lens for focal length options. Thanks!!
Hi Chris. I recently bought this lens and saw some "dust" inside the front glass. Did you see the dust in your lens? Thanks!
Great review - seems like super quality lens. Bit of a shame about the lack of filter facility though - would put off a big proportion of the target market (landscape photographers) I'd have thought?

It can take rear filters, though ;)
How to clean the glasses of this lens? Is microfiber good for cleaning? can the liquid for cleaning the mirrorless sensors be used to clean this lens? I've been using this lens for 1 month, I must say that the colors are the most beautiful I've ever developed. Too bad for the filters that cost too much ($500) but I'm keeping this lens. i love it.
Many thanks for your detail testing! Would you consider to make a comparison with Sony FE 12-24mm F4 G lens in future? Many thanks!

Focus breathing compensation on Sony. That 12-24 is very very sharp. I bought it on a whim but barely use it. When I do though with no flash at car show, I’m impress at how it renders
THANK YOU!! Would you say it's still today, in 2024, a wise and perfect choice as it was 4 years ago? THANKS! I'll need it for Canon and I hope the Canon, larger version is just as fine a lens!
Hi Christopher, really nice review. Can you use a Nisi v5 or v6 filter holder system or do you have to use the special one for super wide angle lenses? I would love this lens but having to invest in more filters is really a drawback at this moment. Regards!

I don't know anything about that filter system I'm afraid. Take a look on NiSi's website, maybe they have some information
I own this lens. It shoots warm though. I think it's the coating Sigma puts on the glass. I usually compensate for it with a set preset in the camera

It's very sharp 😯
I plan to get A7RV with Tamron 50-400mm F4.5-6.3 (crop 2X to 800mm) and pair a 14mm F1.8 as ultrawide and everyday lens which can crop to 28mm F1.8 low light F3.6 DOF for that, is it good choice? Or better go with Loawa 10-18 manual, Sony 12-24 F4, Sigma 14-24 F2.8, 16-35 F4 PZ or Tamron 17-50? Is the Power Zoom essential or any of these even the fix lens can do dolly zoom just fine? And can I set profile for each lens so the results by the golden look Tamron lenses and cooler look Sony lenses will look consistent? If want stabilisation in addition to the IBIS, there will be crop too, the 14mm better?
Got some of my best star photos with this lens. Ended up selling it tho and getting the Sony 20mm because it was much lighter and cheaper (and just as sharp if not slightly sharper). Still miss the sig tho, that 14mm was nice to have sometimes 😆
Please test the Tamron 15-30mm G2 - so that we can all compare the two, I’m very unsure of which lens to get, the Tamron or Sigma?? Thanks Chris love the videos by the way, they absolutely awesome👍🏻

Christopher, awesome video. Since Canon doesn't support third party on their RF cameras, could you do a video on the Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 DG HSM Canon EF mount? I'm thinking about buying it for both my R7 and R6 MkII. Thank you so much!
Another formidable presentation. So I bought it and film with this lens on the s ... A1 a s a p
New to photography, does it make for a good real estate lens? Thanks
Please would you do a comparison between the 16mmf1.4 on APSC vs that lense at 24mmf2.8... as the 16mmf1.4 is a (ff) 24mmf2.8 equivalent?? 🙏🏻
I agree with everything that has been said in this video. Except of one thing. This Sigma is super front heavy. Even more than the 16-35 f/2.8 GM... At least by my opinion and at least on my A7 iii. Or maybe it is just the feel of it, but it also feels way more solid than the GM....Now Chris - the ultimate and the obvious comparison would be to make a video on Tamron 17-28 f/2.8 :)

Christopher, I'm a hobbyist who on occasion sells an image here and there. One area I struggle with are panoramic landscapes with my Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L (you even reviewed this lens)., I'm looking at the Sigma 14-24mm f2.8, the Sigma 14mm prime and Canon EF EF 16-35mm f/2.8L. Any thoughts on which lens (on a budget) would be good for the sole purpose of landscapes? If I look at the zoom lens to 35mm I possibly would use it for landscape portraits. The camera body is Canon EOS 5D.M4, thoughts for this application?

@SwitchRich The thing is all companies are struggling! Even Sony's camera division... Propably Nikon and Canon are just doing fine with mirrorless but the entry level market is dying. Unfortunatly Tamron and Sigma have to do reverse engineering for both mounts and it will take some time to archive decent results.
