I have both lenses and I love them both equally. I shoot a ton of senior portraits and these are the only 2 lenses I will use. When I go full body shots and 3/4 body shots I use the 105. When I want that flipping sharp half body shot, I lean more to the 135mm gm. The 135mm just blows me away on how smoothly the fall off is of the bokeh and it’s so sharp. It depends on how much room I have outdoors, if I have plenty of room I will use the 135 mm the whole session. But if it gets a little tight I slap on the 105. The 85mm f1.4 and my 70-200 f2.8 are collecting dust since I only use these 2 lenses. Great video by the way. What camera and lens setup Are you using to film these videos? Great review of the Sigma 105mm and 135mm ! I agree with you 100 percent on the 135 being a lens for certain photographic applications . The 85mm is a all around go to lens , in my opinion . Amazing shots! On your advice I picked up the Sigma 105mm instead of the 135mm and I love it! It's beefy and the bokeh is silky smooth.

Great video bro and informative! I’m def glad I went with the 105 when I made the switch from canon back in 2019. Never regretted it I picked up the new sigma 85 1.4 dg dn and I haven’t used my 105 since July lol she’s been in her feelings since then lol. Gotta pull her out some this week 😂💯

I got the Sigma 105mm Macro and the Sigma 105 F1.4. I love that thing.. When I pull it out people really think you're a professional. Lol. I love using it. I try to use it whenever I can.

I ended up going with the sony 135 1.8. I don’t do as much portraits then indoor church photos and its great for lowlight and distance I need to get the shots. Plus the sigma 85 and the sony 35 1.4

This is my first time watching any of your videos. Just curious if you like the 85? Im a Canon shooter and shoot on the 85 1.5 a lot. I was looking into getting a 105 or 135 (mainly for weddings) but idk if it will allow me to get good interaction with my subject.

I love the 85. I will tell you when I shoot a wedding I use the 24-70 on one camera and my 105 on my other. That way I can stay Engaged. If I want longer I will put the 105 into crop mode and that gives me 135 because of the 1.5 crop factor of Sony by the touch of a button

I thought before watching it that 105mm would be the king. My own preference is 105mm then 85mm then 135mm. I have all three, 105mm Sigma Art 1.4, 85mm Sigma DG DN, and 135mm Sony GM.

Really hope Sony drops that 100 1.4 this year because My 105 is just so freaking heavy but I love her.

Overall pics didn’t work for me. Something was off. Then I figured it out too much compression. Maybe 🤔 natural light and a 50mm. Nice looking model though and good tutorial.

Yes Now I understand why the sigma 105mm F1.4 is favorable. Aside from the distance from subject compared to the 135mm F1.8 And from also looking at the specs, I speculate that the reason might be clear just from from physics alone. When you look at the lens from a technical and physical aspect, it's clear who the winner is; it is the Sigma 105mm!!!! The sigma just simply has the largest front lens elements out of both the 85mm and the 135mm. And is surprisingly heavier than Sony’s 70-200mm F2.8. By having a larger front lens element, more light has to be squeezed down to the sensor. This causes it to diffract more light in the out of focus regions. Which is why flare performance becomes a little tricky, but bokeh performance is king..But it does this at the cost of having many corrective lens groups and elements, which in -turn adds weight and size; however, in my opinion, it may (It does) render more beautiful bokeh that the 135mm as a result. I respect Sigma for doing this because often photographers in general tend to want what works for their style. So if the lens is a little heavy, we can generally live with that if we are happy with the results until the weight and size outweighs practicality. It is also interesting that the 85mm offered fairly good performance. I also enjoy the rendering of the 85mm; however, only at closer focusing distances outdoors and for general use in studio…For instance, I would prefer to use the 85mm only for headshots or tight 3/4 poses outdoors because the background blur effect drops off rapidly as you move farther away from the subject while subject engagement is just as good as the 105mm. Which means I'd switch back to the 105mmF1.4 anyway, for outdoor full body and close-up portraits while still preserving buttery smooth bokeh effect. So it makes perfect since to just stick with the Sigma 105mm for almost everything in portraits outdoors, close-ups and full body and still getting amazing bokeh at longer focusing distances. Although I have not tried the Sigma 105mmF1.4 myself, many thanks for helping me realize that the Sigma 105mm is a great, unique, and versatile lens. I am now going to buy this lens… Now, I also want to wait for the rumored Sony 100mm F1.4GM to release this year to see if they will make something as daring as the Sigma 105mm F1.4. Hopefully Sony makes the filter thread size of the new 100mm F1.4 larger than the one found on the Sigma 105mmF1.4 .... lol.... Great videos...Thanks again... Cheers!!!!!
