How does Aerodynamics work? We explain side skirts, vortex generators, diffusers and canards!
We learned the basics of aero in part one, but there’s still so much more to cover! Bart delves deeper into the magical world of aerodynamics, and teaches you all the science that makes it work! You asked for it... it’s Aerodynamics Part Two, baby!
Bart teaches us how cars work by blowing stuff up and cutting things in half. It’s a science show for the car lover who’s easily bored. Join Bart as he explains the science behind everything automotive. This is cars down to the atom. This is Science Garage.
Some of our best videos ever are coming out soon, stay tuned so you won't miss a thing!

except that would mean it is for cosmetic only and not performance.. You just learned on this video how those aero parts you think are "rice" and do nothing that plenty of people and every racer spends thousands on practically do help performance. Yes it has to be balanced etc, but to say that aero is "rice" only and not performance your just being ignorant. If you think that some people that mod their don't take their cars they drive on the road to the track , you are also very wrong... The whole point of this is for performance, not to mention when you want more performance without ruining reliability etc, or are staying NA. these are crucial for bettering your lap times. Have you seen time attack cars that have insane aero and change it up and make it more insane every year and are getting better and better times every year? lol....

So can we agree that one of the best feelings is when you’re watching a car video and they suggest the car you own.
These are surprisingly well researched and accurate. Really good job, guys. The only point I'll contend is while you'll have areas of high pressure over the top of the car, a reasonably aerodynamic car will have low pressure over the top surfaces as the shape of the roof line is essentially the top of a wing. The car may be creating downforce overall, but that lift is negating some of the downforce by counteracting it. This is why LMP "prototypes" have relatively flat decks, with a narrow canopy in the center. It's probably not as low drag as a fully cambered roofline, but you trade off drag for reduced frontal area and end up with a similar CdA with more overall downforce.
Great video Bart. Love these so much. Keep em coming man!!!!! Oh and I got a new set of Jumper Cables.

@Dingbobber
6 жыл бұрын
DeVan Helmoski oh, well I was replying to the guy in the comments saying “it doesn’t”. But anyway, toe and camber effect the angle in which the tires are pointed. Toe in let’s the wheels be pointed inwards which puts force on the center of the car, allowing for better cornering as the tires don’t have to turn as much going around a corner. Outward does the opposite TDLR; Negative Toe points inward and is better for conering. Positive toe points outward and is better for straight line stability. From what I understand camber and toe are very alike but feel free to correct me (corrections, camber changes the angle of the wheels tilt, while toe changes if they point in or out, they both have like effects)
