Some shrimp have long and thick black stuff on their back. If you don't clean it, you may feel uncomfortable when you chew some gritty stuff. : ) I clean shrimp one by one before cooking.

You don't need to, the intestine and "stuff" inside are harmless, but can give an off taste if it's large and can feel like eating sand.

A moment ago, I did this recipe by myself from peeling the shrimp to turning off the heat.The taste is really amazing but my shrimps were smaller than yours so that the image is not as good-looking as yours.My mother stared at me strangely cuz I don’t usually cook and said the taste is really delicious!! 진짜 고맙습니다 앞으로도 요리 할게요 맛있는 요리법을 주셔서 다시한번 감사합니다.💕

I always watch your videos cause I always get to learn something new like for example the shrimp heads. I used to just throw them away thinking they aren't any use for cooking anymore and I kinda thought back then that it was pretty wasteful of me. I wish I have discovered your channel sooner and all those shrimp heads I have thrown away in the past wouldn't have been wasted. Thank you for the valuable lesson Maangchi!

I'm Mexican and my parents are from Acapulco and I grew up eating seafood like a mad man. I know my way around a shrimp just like you :) 🍤 not a lot of people know how to take off the shrimps shell without making a huge mess. But it's easier than expected.
