I totally agree. I am a Ghanaian 🇬🇭 but who has never been to Korea but I have been eating Korean dishes every now and then since I started watching Maangchi☺️☺️

I was so surprised when it exploded! It was my first time ever opening champagne. : )

I watch with my 17 year old daughter. She started watching and cooking for me first. Now we shop at the korean grocery store. I cook while watching your videos, too. We are now eating healthier, too.

What a touching tribute!

I can personally attest to how much joy your recipes have brought to my life over the years. I started watching 6 years ago when I was still in high school. Now I'm about to graduate college and still get so excited when I see a new recipe posted! When I left home and started cooking for my own, I watched lots of these videos- I even learned really basic things like how to cut an onion by watching these videos. Learning to cook good things for friends and family is really fulfilling! I hope to see more videos from you over the years, and thank you for sharing your delicious knowledge with us :]

The last time I cleaned squid, the ink sack broke....a few days later, my daughter was over and asked what were the black spots on the ceiling from. I had no idea that it had squirted so high! I left it there, so whenever someone comes over and notices, I have a story to tell.

This reminds me of the time my Korean son insisted on going out to eat. We went across the river to the South side of Seoul and eventually came to a place that serves spicy octopus. He insisted. I refused. He was stubborn and so we went in and I watched him eat the whole platter. (This was in August.) By the time he finished he was scarlet red faced and totally soaked in sweat. I reminded him ever since. Dad knows best!

i love your recipes. i love your videos. i live in a place that has no korean food. i have to have my sister send me korean food from LA. I first started watching your videos in 2011 and 13 years later, I’m still watching. Your cheerful personality never fails to brighten my day. Thanks Maangchi, for guiding me in my culinary journey.

Maangchi before I started watching your videos, I couldn't eat anything spicier than black pepper. But I was watching you eat gimchi and use gochugaru and gochujang and the food looked so good! I started training myself to eat spicy food because if I couldn't eat spicy food, I'd miss out on a lot of things, including Korean, Thai, Indian, all sorts of things. I've watched your videos so much, I've actually learned a lot of concepts in Korean cooking. Rice is the main dish, and then you have loads of side dishes to go with it. The main korean flavourings are garlic, chilli flakes, sesame oil and sesame seeds. Gimchi should be served with basically every meal. There's so much more I can't even think of right now, but thanks so much for teaching me a lot about Korean food and culture!

Tried a few recipes from your video but I can’t resist to post a comment here. I tried this recipe and it turned out well and even my family love it! It was so challenging because I’m using the small squid and take me some time to prepare it but all of the hard work are paid off.
