23 minutes once a year with Dorian. It’s not enough. Liked this to have been longer. Sometimes unedited and the actual length of the workout 45-60 minutes is better.
It's like watching Mike Mentzer if he had managed to live longer. Thanks for this, Thurston.

Sorry to tell you Zanar, but it’s not because some dude has been lifting for years that he’s beyond reproach. Especially since these greats have been pumping themselves full of roids for years, often doing absurd training that would result in injuries for most naturals. I know Yates is some kind of god to you British, but that clouds your judgment. Same with Arnold, I pretty much watched all his training videos and read his massive bodybuilding book, lots of the advice is basically wrong if scrutinised today, but Arnold got away with it by pumping full of roids and avoiding injury that way.
@yqafree
11 ай бұрын
@Nickboy395 I'm not discounting what you're saying in ways. But I think I would defend what I think he intended to mean by his comment, if my exegesis is correct. It seems that Zanar has criticized the kind of people that so often criticize others who have achieved greatness, regardless of roids or no roids, to talk about all kinds of distracting fitness philosophies or they make these "scientific" pontifications that take time away from productive training and the impressive results that a human can achieve. For examples to what I think we're critical of Peter Katcherian (might have spelled his last name incorrectly) often speaks to this and Geoffrey Verity Schofield also did in a video called "Typical Hardgainer Bullsh*t" And if you think about what was said in this video and those I referred you to, I think you can respect the dialectic that we're persuaded of, even as imperfect as it is. - Your Quality [fitness] Apologist
These training videos with dorian are pure gold pls continue them as often as you possibly can
These videos with Dorian and you Mike are some of the best training videos out there both in terms of information and entertainment. Love it!
LOVE these sessions with DY. He's so knowledgeable and can really point to the small things that change a good workout into an exceptional one! Thanks for sharing this
Its so wholesome knowing Mike trained Dorian in his days and now Dorian is training another Mike in his days
Mike’s face when Dorian asked “you wanna do one more?” 😭 so relateable 20:33
Dorian is a hub of information ! Doing this shoulders/tris workout today 💪
Yates is a legend. Props to him for breaking the mold of "conventional" splits for bodybuilding, sort of following the Mike Mentzer HIT protocol.
This is the first time I've ever actually watched Dorian in action in the weight room. I'd train with him in a second.
Dorian is a different breed. You have to come ready for this guy. Absolute fountain of knowledge when it comes to training. A gym sage.💪🏾
I think this is one of the best video you have ever published.. this man is absolutely a genius, you deserved him and the training went gorgeous! Support from Italy 🇮🇹 Mike
Words cannot express how amazing it would be to have Dorian Yates coach / spot you through your workout. I'm getting chills just watching. Can't imagine how nervous/pumped you must have been.
I love this sort of "series" with Dorian Yates, just so professional and informative. Definitely looking forward to you doing a back session with Yates to complete the series. And maybe Abs thrown in there.

Crazy timing, been watching loads of Mike mentzer and Dorian yates lately and I’m so time restricted lately with gym so thinking off giving there style of training a go
Yesterday I watched both of your previous workout videos with Dorian & today unexpectedly you post this one. The timing is hilarious lol….Keep them coming 🔥💪
Dorian was HUGE. Lessons from the man. Great vid!
Dorian is a true legend, and a nice guy always happy to share his knowledge.
Great stuff DY. I’m glad he was the man when I started training. 25 years later and I’m still learning from him!
As someone who is not completely new to training but has been on years of hiatus and lack knowledge, these vids are of great help getting back on the right track. Very informative and straightforward, no bs no marketing no sponsors or product placement just pure training and helpful tips! Keep up the work dude, you are in great shape!
Literally doing my Thursday push day at the gym and then this video came up with my two favourite fitness guys Dorian and Mike 😁
8:51 so crazy how mikes back works as an anatomy chart proving dorians point perfectly
Absolutely glued to this footage! Felt like I was reading a book!! 👏🏼 A wealth of knowledge.
Never seen your channel before decided to watch this. Excellent job! I have mad respect for Dorian since he's retired. His honesty and openness is refreshing. I'm 55 now and looking back on my body building career I totally overtrained in my 20s . I make better gains now by doing less and apply Dorian's principles. I was at the Olympia to witness Lee Haney ( The Goat) break Arnold's record. I passed Dorian after but didn't dare say a word to him cuz he was so dejected and pissed off I thought he would rip my head off. Haha. Your looking good! Keep up the great videos!
Anytime Dorian is in a gym on a video I’m watching 😅
Amazing video, Mr Dorian Yates keeps things very simple and it brings so much clarity to executing movements safely. Thanks Mike for suffering on our behalf. As always the content is superb.

The biggest 'skill' was nailed imo there...listening, by far the most important. It can be so easy for all of us to get complacent, even people who are as successful as you Mike, awesome vid

Awesome video! Thanks for sharing your session with Dorian🙏 So great to gain some of his wisdom💯
I dont really watch a lot of your content Mike but this was an amazing video with so much knowledge. Well done man 👍
Dorian was spot on when he speaks about volume. If « Volume » was the main driver of hypertrophy, everyone would simply add sets and get bigger.. but that’s not how this work. Amazing video! 👍💪
This is amazing! Great to see Mentzer’s concepts live on through Dorian, legends passing the torch. I broke through 5 years of plateau using a similar low volume, high intensity HIT routine.

Mike your an impressive student under the expert tutelage of Dorian "The Shadow" Yates. The legend and the Greatest Bodybuilding Champion is now the best in Coach in the world. I'm glad to see Dorian looking so well compared to some of his counterparts from his era. Smashing out all those monster weights and injuries over the years has taken toll on many professional bodybuilders. Excellent video guys enjoyed it thoroughly. A huge thanks to Dorian, Mike and the team.
Ive always found myself going heavy on side laterals (and shoulders in general) has been the key to big delts. Most people ive known who advocate for slow controlled movement or higher reps on delts had smaller shoulders than me and whenever I worked lighter/slower my delts soon started lagging
great training video , enjoyed this one more than the usual

I think there's one reason why people criticize Dorian's method. It's because they never really train past failure each and every workout. Instead, they do high-volume workouts to fatigue the muscle but not really creating that muscle hypertrophy.
@julianr8086
11 ай бұрын
@@oldskoolbodybuildingroutin7178 I was saying why he is being criticised. As long as you train smart and leave everything in the gym, following with a proper diet and recovery regiment you should in theory grow regardless of HIT or high volume (probably a combination of the two would yield the best results). Muscle building is an awful lot more than just workouts method , starting from genetics, lifestyle, supplements, anabolics etc… To assume that most of the hit people are small and volume people are big, is a poor comment nonetheless.
