On the JCB trucks. One of them had the injection pump changed probably 3 years ago, I wanna say 237-37 237-37 also needs brake pads The old fiberglass roofs blew off during transport. Personally, I’d redesign the battery hold downs. I replaced the batteries in both multiple times from the holder arcing the positive post out and melting it. They usually always ran good.

if I were Matt I'd keep the one with the 12k something hours on it and swap a working scale screen (11k hr one?) because the 12k hr one fired right over with no issues.from the start... But what do I know!
Being in the same industry and now retired this is a great way of staying in touch as well as passing a couple of enjoyable hours.
Matt, You established the part about your not going to be building, nor going to run a conventional repair shop or operate during "A" typical hours. I can't even picture you working in a 9-5 setting for any length of time. Your calling is doing just what your doing now, buying, fixing, using and reselling equipment. For most, that's the dream. For you, that's the plan and it's working out very well. The video's are informative, but more than that-there an inspiration. You don't waste time on things like paint, buffing or polishing. Your theory is specific-It starts, it runs, it's here. Come try it, buy it, take it home, paint it and fly it! Your videos show how you got it, what you did to it, and all sales are fair, legit, and final. It doesn't get any better than that.
This was an awesome auction video! Of course we want to see the fixing and flipping. Best part seeing all the content that just came to the farm. Well said.
Matt, we ran a LOT of those Toyota forklifts at my old job. You have nothing to worry about with those hours. Every one of ours did 40K+ hours before they got sold, and they all ran fine when they went. Never any major issues, just ancillary stuff like a gas converter, bad sensor, or dodgy starter. Major components, never a problem. The brakes on all yours will be good, just like they were on ours -- they never get used! That said, in over 2 MILLION hours I saw those forks, we never had a transmission problem -- NEVER! Pretty good for machines that would be going flat out one way grossing 5.5 tonnes and be slammed into the opposite direction at full throttle. ETA: That valve tick is the worst I've heard on one of those. They normally go away with oil pressure like all the others did. Probably fixable though. And the one that won't start will be some finickity little thing rather than the engine itself.
@arcanewyrm6295
2 ай бұрын
With a few thousand hours in the saddle of those myself, I also think it's something simple, like a fuel regulator or maybe dirty distributor cap and rotor contacts. These are otherwise very reliable little engines. Those little Toyota motors are definitely built to last.

Good history of an English company world wide. I went to a depot of theirs in Kent, (the first one) for a job as a workshops fitter. I turned it down as I was already earning much more so I stayed where I was. No regrets about not accepting their offer as I ended up working for a commercial vehicle dealership. T My pay just went up and up. Retired early through ill health and now I just work on a few friends cars to keep me a bit active and my brain alive. JCB is a very good company to work for and I would now recommend to anyone to take a job with them. KW Now 75 and still doing well.
Love both your auction videos and the troubleshoot and repair. Its nostalgic to see someone do "Mechanic" work, not "Tech" work. Anyone can replace parts til it runs, but it takes talent to troubleshoot and repair.

Years ago, the Car Talk guys would do 'reviews' of a number of mechanics to check and see if they were honest - near the end what they were finding was that the honesty factor was going up while the problem solving was going down - iirc, their conclusion was that the current crop of mechanics weren't knowledgeable enough to cheat well.
Good morning Matt and thanks to Sam helping you haul all that home. I hope you will keep one JCB for yourself! Make a good profit on the rest.

Hulcher Derailment Services were originally oil pipe line layers until a derailment on either the Southern Pacific or the Santa Fe RR's down in Texas. The railroad could not get their derricks (rail derricks) to the middle of a derailment to get cars moved. The site foreman from the railroad went to the supervisor of Hulcher & asked if their guys could give an assist & as they say "the rest is history".
It’s a vicarious thrill to watch someone like you or AndrewC acquire, repair/maintain and use the big machines I grew up around - my dad and his brothers owned a large CNY general contracting firm, had an equipment yard full of CAT dozers, payloaders, pan scrapers, truck cranes, gradalls, paving equipment, a fleet of 10 wheel Mack dump trucks, large ford stake/rack trucks, sandblasting rigs, multiple HD equipment moving rigs, etc… on weekends I’d accompany my dad to his office wherein I’d wash his work ford 2504x4 out in the shop yard, screw around in their Motorola private radio system that was in most vehicles, etc… suffice it to say I had a great set of summer jobs doin all types of labor that my dad initially insisted would help me develop character, but which he later admitted was his way to impress upon me how much I never wanted to do those back-breaking laborious jobs and instead wanted to be come an accountant and tax lawyer…. You should consider putting a Container Rollout Platform (CROP) inside the container for the engine. It basically turns the container into a drawer.
Matt I really am loving the new part of the channel BUYING N FLIPPING.
As someone who worked at a freight dock using forklifts exactly like that. I know the "Mr. Manhole" sticker came from a peice of freight, and that the dock workers laughed at it all day that day.
Keep making the repairs and showing us the process!
You and your buddies get to play with the big toys I only dream of. Congratulations and thanks for always including us in your acquisitions, adventures and repairs. Yur a good feller Matt.
Personally I think the dry van trailer was a great buy at the price. You can use it for storage, or license it and use it to pick up items that you don't want to haul through nasty weather. You'd be surprised at what will fit in those things. We used to pick up John Deere tractors and haul them from Atlanta to Iowa in a dry van.
Having seen telehandlers used at work, its a no brainer, the Genie is the score. The older one is great, but the JCBs are #2 in my mind. They're compact and versatile, as far as haul trucks are concerned. Easy to move, and easy to take down public roads when needed.
Your show is more interesting than anything on TV keep the shows comming
Nice haul! You should keep 2 forklifts, lowest hours except if they have noises or running issues, fix and flip the rest. Keep and love the Gradall, fix and flip the Genie, fix brakes on JCB, keep best 1 flip the other. Build some drying racks for lumber for the trailer. A dealers license is also a great idea if you can swing it.
I really like seeing you fix up these pieces of equipment. It really takes the mystery out of how these things run and work. I think the forkless Genie was the best deal, as long as your hunch is correct and there are no demons tucked in there.
Happy to see anything you want to show us, so glad things are working out, thanks for taking us along for the journey!
